The Story of Noland is one of my favorite sad back stories. Because doing what's right is never completely clear and people will always be torn apart for what they believe is right, forgetting that disagreements don't have to mean malice. And then sometimes fate will take everything away from you. But that really doesn't mean the story ends, not as long as tales and Inherited will exist.

Cowboy

What a beautiful set of episodes to come back to.

leviathan_13

Best bromance in One Piece :D.

TheGodofCruelty

You're gonna get almost all of the backstory content you talked about eventually, just be patient :D

mustofolys

so his last thoughts were about that one shirtless man he spent one summer with, not his wife and kids? truly a "friendship" for the history books.

Cyrill Attakpah

"the partying in the woods - i really liked that" HOLY MOLY THATS FKN IMPORTANT

i love the city of gold (and not just because El Dorado) but it also makes sense, the people of Shandora lives on a remote island, they don't trade with any ships landing on the island as they are all either killed or ran away, so people on the island don't really have need for gold as a form of currency for trade, so what else is gold good for? eh makes cool looking buildings i guess? big fuck off bell? sure!... and in some hundred years make a flying machine i guess

Talking about the backstories you still missing... There are hundreds of episodes left. You have time to cry later. :)

SHOCK JOHNNY

These two episodes bring it back for me. What a good flashback. Despite the pacing for this arc in the anime, the flashback for Noland and Calgara was done tastefully for me. One for the history books for sure.

Perfect Yarn

IMO this backstory is was actually brings skypia together as an arc. It retroactively makes a lot of the stuff that came before it better.

I was so happy you cried again with one piece I started crying too damn

Mgdoe

When you started crying I started crying, man as someone who's caught up with one piece sometimes I forget how good some of these backstories are 😭

Serith

YES! More One Piece! I've missed this so much.

Hynkka

A friend of mine almost skipped the whole history section because he thought it was filler. I really don't blame him though, if you know nothing of One Piece, the filler is sometimes baked in very well.

Siggy

You will learn about Luffy, Robin, and the rest of Sanji’s backstory later on… and you will cry an entire ocean, they will break you 😭

TheRoguelock

I definitely get the frustration of the pacing. I wish I could say it got better 😂 But these two episodes, as well as the ones that come after, are a perfect example of what One Piece is to me. Luffy and the crew showing up at a random time in this place's history, just trying to have fun or have an adventure. And during that time, they meet someone (or multiple people) that are suffering as a result of what that place is like. And you follow the story for a bit, and you start to see the place opening up, and there's finally a moment like these episodes, where it all clicks, and you have all the context. That anger for someone like Eneru, or Crocodile, or all the other villains you're gonna see, that feels real. And you're pulling for Luffy to once again smack them in the face and free the country. There's times where this series seems like it settles into a routine, and there's quite a few times where it will surprise you, but either way, I just love it. This series has over 1100 episodes, and an equivalent number of manga chapters, and that is a testament to its strength as a series. It is still captivating people to this day. All this is to say that I'm so glad that you are reacting to this series. Love your takes and your energy, and I hope you'll stick it out to the end. It's crazy to me that people will skip this whole arc. Hoping you have a good year, stay healthy, and here's to you and the fiancé getting married this year. Can't wait for you to be part of the "1000+ episodes is not enough" crew. 🤣

Beelz

Noland's story is such a cute and tragic story it would be able to stand on its own. To this day it's still one of my favorite parts of One Piece

Seraphem

I love how much weight and history the give to the bell... yeah this is one of the best flashbacks.

Cvillain626

I think we can all agree Calgara is a million times better than Wyper

FreeCam

I love the One Piece flashbacks
