Shoutout to Loulie Jean Norman for blowing that theme out of the park :) I thought for a long time it was Nichelle Nicols, wouldn't that have been great? I'm pleased she lived to be 92 (died in 2005) so lived to see how huge Star Trek became and how enjoyed that theme is :)

Remember from Season One when Kirk had been split into two personalities. Spock said that intelligence wins over because he understood what would happen when Kirk's two parts would be put back together suddenly. Spock has his own personal battle between Human and Vulcan and he stated that his intelligence is what makes it possible to manage.

Ms. Norman recorded the vocal for the original theme in 1967. Elin Carlson recorded the theme for the remastered version (info at elincarlson.com)
