In the US, “valet” for cars is pronounced “va-LAY” with the cat A sound :) or maybe it’s “VA-lay?” 🤔 I can’t quite remember 😅

This brought back so many memories regarding college. I was listening in while cleaning my counter and windows over the kitchen sink. I'm 63 and retired. My older brother went to college a couple of years before me and he got homesick and ended coming home. My sister then went to the same college the next year and loved it. She ended up graduating from there. Then a year after my sister started college I went to the same place for a secretarial degree. I was enjoying college life and wanted to date, but my boyfriend then told me if I date, he would date too. Well I ended up only going one year and we have now been married for 43 years. I remember my folks saying how kids change once they go to college. My daughter who is 38 is still paying for her degree since she changed mid degree. She ended up with an English degree and now writes documents for a company and makes six figures. She just told me she has 4 years left to pay. I worked mostly part time for an I surance company for 43 years and they were specifically looking for people with some college. So happy for your daughter and that she knows what she wants! Dan and Kay, enjoy being empty nestors.

Reminds me so much of going off to university ❤️😊 I went to Edinburgh Uni all the way from the US (whole degree, not study abroad) and absolutely managed. I’m sure Bryony will do great—though she might not be making her bed as often as you’re hoping 😂❤️

In Australia we say “vallay” like ballet even though we’re not French. I reckon you can say it however it works in your community/country. It has the same meaning whether cars or clothes because it is referring to the person responsible for taking care of the clothes or the cars.

Dan, those machines are rubbish if you talking about thode hand held oned with batteries. A friend of mine has one and we used it one evening when we sat outside with our knitting and it was doing nothing. We were bitten a lot.

Very good show, thank you both.

Here in Ohio we have a very agressive flea population this year due to a very mild winter. I’ve also had lots of bites on my wrists and ankles.
