Good morning everyone and welcome back to 'The Bakery Bears Advent Calendar 2024'

Can you believe we are approaching the end of our first 'Christmas Cast On!' Yes, we have a second design to look forward to, but before we get there we need to finish off our 'Country Christmas Mitts'!

Join Kay this morning as she:

  • Opens ‘Day Eleven’ of our ‘Advent Calendar’

  • Welcomes you to the next section of this years knit along

  • Shows you her progress so far & lets you know what we’ll be doing today

  • Shows you how to pick up your thumb stitches

  • Talks you through her thumb decreases and demonstrates how to knit them

  • Reads to you the next section of this years ‘Christmas Story’

  • The next section of the pattern is attached to the bottom of this post. If you are uncertain how to download the pattern, this video shows you howhttps://www.patreon.com/posts/how-to-find-and-47907523

Thank you so much for watching and we'll see you tomorrow for a rather special adventure. Dan will be venturing out in search of 'The Legend of Terrington Bank'.

Merry Christmas everyone!

Just got to finish the thumbs, but that will have to wait until after my own festive adventure! We, Grandad and I, are off to watch the 5 year old in her first school play this morning! Thank you Kay, these mitts look fabulous!

Oh lovely!! 🎄🧶☕️ Another beautiful episode... ☺️ Just peaceful and lovely... ✨ I'm a little behind on my mitt knitting - I'm still working up to the cuffs... and am looking forward to working the detail on the thumb gap when I get to it... ✨ And really looking forward to hearing about what the final detail is... So intriguing! 🤔

Nicki

Finally about to cast on as needed to finish a hat and get some socks off and running on needles.

I'm to the thumb on one and just the top of the mitt on the other. I feel much like a beginner, one mitt's tension is tighter and probably the way it should be while the other isn't bad but it made the one slightly bigger than the other. I'm going to add some additional stitches to the second one to make it less noticeable. It will just be so nice to have completed a project this year. I suffered a stroke a couple of months ago, mild, and left me looking fit as a fiddle but this is the first project I will have completed-depending on what yet remains, smile. Thanks so much Kay and Dan. The sites are great to see with you together and the project just easy enough for my abilities this year. I feel part this year. I am so grateful.

Finished my left mitt just now. Only the thumb to go on my right mitt which I will do later today because I’m heading out now to have lunch with a friend. Thank you Kay for a lovely pattern to knit this Advent season ❤️

Caroline

I hope this has whetted your appetite for mire complex projects! So glad your recovery was good! Merry Christmas!

Love this pattern! I did modify it slightly for my large hands by adding 5 rows to the hand and for the thumb, I didn’t do the decreases and added another 2 rows. Thank you Kay! Looking forward to the next project 🎄!
