PSA: Don't ever do this. Sunny would've been schlorped up and buried in mud IRL. But this is a fantasy. I remember when I was a kid out doing kid-things after some big storms and stepped on what looked like a normal mud puddle and ended up almost waist deep and stuck in it. Got lucky that time.

Yeahhhh... I usually had one or more with me when I went out exploring as a kid, and during the time when I did that a lot, we had some really responsible hound dogs who looked out for me, so they'd usually keep me from going places that weren't safe (slippery places, muddy places, holes... snakes... probably the occasional boar... possibly bears, for all I know... anyway, unlike poor Lassie's idiot human children, if the dogs seemed to be telling me not to go somewhere, I'd obey :p)... Or if I was on a proper hike, other people would be in front of me... So I don't think I personally ever walked into a mud pit like that by accident (I did so knowingly a few times to help move a boat or some such, but that's different), but I've definitely seen other people do it (specifically my dad, more than once, since he was generally the volunteer test subject for questionable areas when we hiked together... and also this one friend who just had(/s) a rather unhealthy lack of caution...). If you're with others, it's a pain and a mess but manageable (though you might get injured)... but indeed, if you're by yourself, especially if you're short and/or potentially in the territory of a deepish body of water (like, say, a lake edge after a storm...), it can be very dangerous. @.@ I'm glad little Sunny has her story magic safety net!
