As mentioned in my last update post, I recorded a Bollywood ramble a while back that I've mostly scrapped, but the opening where I review a bunch of Bollywood movies was salvageable. So enjoy!

I've uploaded it straight to Patreon so you can watch/listen with the app closed, but here it is on YouTube if you'd like subtitles, chapters, or playback speed controls: https://youtu.be/Yr8hzYt5tFY

Really looking forward to the War 2 review!! In terms of suggestions, if it isn't too much psychic damage to revisit, I would love to hear you get into your issues with Bohemian Rhapsody

This video brings me back to my teen years. Watched it last night on an edible and it brought up so many emotions. I was actively obsessed with bollywood from 12 to 18. To this day no special interest obsession ever got that big or lasted that long. And I've never come across anyone being into bollywood in a way that comes close to that. I still care about bollywood movies and watch them sometimes but there's a lot of bollywood films I haven't seen in over a decade at this point. But it really defined my teen years. All the music I listened to as a teenager was bollywood music. I ended up isolated from other teens in part because I was obsessed with something everyone around me deemed stupid. So much of what you said in your intro to bollywood video was exactly what I'd say every time I had another conversation with someone who told me that they thought all bollywood movies were bad and the same without having seen any. Once I got a teacher to give me an entire lesson at the end of the year to give a power point presentation about it. Somehow no one diagnosed me as autistic back then. I volunteered for a local Indian film festival for a few years and saw/briefly met a bunch of actors/directors from bollywood through that. Saw srk twice at the berlinale. Shook hands with pc. Once saw A.R Rahman in person. Went to an Asha Bhosle concert. Could nearly fully understand hindi at one point although I always spoke it badly. Ended up going to India three times. First in a couchsurfing trip that me and my mother went on together when I was 14 (that I paid for). Then I lived in Mumbai for 6 months at 18. Met a lot of people working in the industry and again just was around known actors and directors sometimes. And outside of India basically no one knows who these people are so my celebrity stories just go untold. The story of my first kiss starts with me being at a drag king show in Mumbai with kalki koechlin also in the audience. That night I also danced with someone I had seen on a reality TV show when I was still in high school. (And it ends with me meeting the girlfriend of the woman I had made out with. I never found out if they were open or not). It was all so exciting living there at 18 with the industry just around my life. Also looked through your favorite actors/directors etc doc and again it just brings me back to being a teenager and having all these lists of all my faves and knowing everything about who's who and who's connected and all the gossip. I actually do still check the bollywood gossip subreddit sometimes. I always say no other movie had a bigger impact on my life as om shanti om. So many things in the next 6 years happened just because I got that DVD at the library. I found you through your wrong video but was apprehensive about watching the bollywood video at first because I've gotten a bit protective of bollywood over the years (even though rewatching movies now I'm also more critical of some things that I wasn't critical of as a teenager like some of the intense nationalism for example) but I'm actually really loving the bollywood content you've made so far and I hope you make more.

This is such a sweet comment! It sounds like your obsession was even more intense than mine! I totally get not wanting to engage with someone talking about a topic you've been really invested in, I tend to avoid video essays about media I'm too obsessed with/knowledgeable about for the same reason. I'm not nearly as up on Bollywood as I used to be, but it definitely is one of my all time special interests.
