Hi Patrons!

Thanks for all the love on the Stranger Things video! It's done better than I expected, and it's truly been sooooooo awe-inspiring to see the fundraiser do well. I get the occasional "Lol triggered liberal" type comment, and they're all bouncing off of me because I know that the video actually made some material difference. Thank you!!!

I have a couple of ideas for what might be next. In terms of large-scale deep dive territory, bear with me, but I've become a little obsessed with the Jerry Herman musical Hello, Dolly!, and after watching most of the Gene Kelly-directed film adaptation for the first time, I'm itching to make an extremely in-depth video tearing it apart as a bad movie musical. One of my special interests of the last few years is classic Hollywood musicals. I've seen a lot of them and read a fair bit about the history (partly for the Fred and Ginger video that never was), so I feel like I have a good well of knowledge + body of literature for research to contextualize exactly what fails about the 1969 film. If you don't know anything about Hello, Dolly!, don't worry. You will.

That said, that might be another one that ends up taking me several months, so I'm thinking about what I could make in the meantime. I do want to revisit the Wrong franchise sometime soon, but even that could take longer since there are multiple new films to watch and review. I might go spelunking on the Lifetime Movie Club to see if there are any individual films wacky enough to be worth talking about. I've also thought about finally doing a deep dive on one of my favorite little-known bad movies, Speedway Junky (2000). I would want to do some research on the production and whatnot, but it is ultimately just one movie, so hopefully it wouldn't take too long.

There are also a couple of non-Youtube things I'm making time for right now. I'm tentatively working on my first feature-length screenplay, which has been fun and rewarding. Honestly, screenwriting is my ultimate career dream, but I consider it far-fetched because it seems like such a difficult path to make work. But I figure there's little use fretting about the logistics if I don't have some things written and ready to show off! On that note, I saw a comment a while back about my Lifetime screenplay I wanted to write for the Patreon. Where does the time go 😭 Over a year ago, I did outline it on camera and then start writing it, but I guess other things thoroughly got in the way. I'm hoping that working on my personal screenplay might help me restart that project. I'm so sorry it's fallen by the wayside, but I do want to revisit it at SOME point.

I'm also planning to move in the next month or two, so I'm anticipating getting a little busy with that. I'll try to get what I can done now.

I could go a number of ways! Let me know if there's an idea you'd really like to see on the channel.

Thanks so much for your support this month!

as a musical movie enthusiast, i NEED to see your full breakdown on hello dolly.

heyitzmae

might i humbly suggest another “putting a funny keyword into the lifetime movie club and seeing what comes up” video? idk if the funny queries there have dried up but the husband videos is one of my all time favorites of yours

I think I still have a list of recommended terms from people! "nannies," "teachers," and such

Katyatko

I really like Hello, Dolly! honestly, but I would be interested to hear your critique!

I neeeeeed to see your breakdown of Hello Dolly. It was in my childhood DVD collection and I rewatched and rewatched a ton of movies, but I watched Hello Dolly once and was like 'never again.'

Jane Mulcahy

I think it's a really good musical, so even a not perfect adaptation is still pretty enjoyable, especially if you haven't seen any other versions. I just think the film specifically makes some big missteps in translating the show!

Jane Mulcahy

Even if you enjoy it it's just so LONG. And SLOW

as i may have alluded to in previous comments, i am a theatre kiddo. i never liked hello, dolly, though i appreciate its place in the canon. i AM very excited to watch this future video. omg i didn't realize pressing enter on desktop posted the comment. i am so excited for you and your other creative pursuits!

Am definitely interested to hear about Hello, Dolly! given its reputation for killing Hollywood movies for a hot whiles! Also would love to see that Lifetime screenplay video should it manage to happen; the notion of it's part of why I joined the Patreon, haha!
