It's season 2. While episodes like this are a clear improvement on season 1, the sense that the show is sort of groping about to find its footing is obvious. C, despite some encouraging signs.

Fire and Bloodwine

Vaguely remember this one but upon rewatch I like seeing the beginnings of building who Jadzia is and what her day to day life is.

TinMan_7B9

Great to get a Dax episode again. Too bad the scifi B-plot is extremely boring. I like Trill Lore, but when I see the title "Playing God" I always struggle to remember what it was about. And when I do finally remember, I'm like... "Oh yeah, THAT episode...." and immediately forget again. It's just that kind of episode. C.

JordanK1991

Somewhere along the lines of B- to C+ for me. Not bad, but nothing to write home about.

Ken R

I downgraded this to a D. It's just very formulaic tv junk that could and probably had been plugged into 400 different shows. Change the guy into a basketball player in school and you have an episode of The White Shadow. Is he a brand new journalist? OK, Lou Grant will judge him til he gets a scoop and then recommend him for a job. Is he a nervous doctor on his first assignment? Oh there he is on Mash being mentored by Hawkeye.

Doctor Pulaski

This is a solid B... Klingon Chef might elevate to A for me if I'm in a good mood.

ScarlettMi

I love the slice of life element to this episode. I thought this episode was a ton of fun and a great way to start getting to know the character more.

Spencer Loften

I hate the guest actor so much. He is just insufferable and it ruins the entire episode for me.

George Bratcher

Gentlemen, there are bread crumbs being spread in this episode, and even some from previous episodes of season 2, that are going to PAY OFF in ways you cannot yet imagine in the future, but NO SPOILERS, but later, when you see it, I'm going to point back to season 2 and say, remember when I told you about the bread crumbs? DS9 does it better than any previous ST series. When you have your MIND BLOWN experience, I'm going to love how you can see that you LOVE IT MORE, but thought at this present time, it was not possible! The only hint of a spoiler I can say is, get ready for MORE bread crumbs in season 2, and then your mind being BLOWN is going to be like watching POP CORN inside a tin foil of Jiffy Pop keeping on POPPING and inflating through the remainder of seasons!

Mikaby

I feel similarly. I ultimately gave it a C, but it is kind of riding that line between B and C. I don't really care that much about this episode, but it's okay... inoffensive.

Summer

This may be underrated, we get so much Dax. All plots are contrived

Ian Westcott

I was kindof okay with him, because he was a pathetic individual, and he was played as a pathetic guy, so... I guess it's just okay.

Ian Westcott

I gave it a B, but... eh, it's a low B. Hearing about what a bastard Curzon was is always fun.

M J D

SPOILER FREE: I'm old enough to remember when "binge" was a cringe word.

Alexander McKechnie

So, I didn't much remember this one. The guys liked it enough that decided to give it another shot. Boy. Took two settings to get through. This is rough. The guest actor ain't great, and, hate to say it, but Terry Ferrell isn't a good enough actress to carry the whole show. And I agree that the scifi plot about the baby universe feels a bit tacked on. I can't give this better than a D. I'm reminded why I gave up on DS9 in the mid 90s. (Now it's my favorite, but only after binging it on Netflix 15 years later!)

Scott Bennett

Dax development is rare and it's good to see here but I didn't like the guest performance or the trek by numbers crisis and nonsense solution.
