Call ‘Em Greg

A B for the colony story, and D for ruining the Wesley character even more.

Kaleigh

Upon first watch, this episode is pretty boring and very on-the-nose preachy. Some of the ideas in this episode will be better to talk about after watching other Trek shows.

Numinous2019

Have to agree. The episode doesn't fully hold together and Will Wheaton just couldn't seem to catch a break from the writers.

Doctor Pulaski

It's the origin of the Maquis and a send-off for Wesley. Now that he is of age, his grooming by the Traveler is complete, and they can go "explore" together... How is this not at least a B?

JimmerVision

Very Meh episode for me. Never liked Wesley, very boring character generally, although, he's far from the worst character in "Trek" these days, that mantle has been taken several times in recent years. Feels like the traveller was an excuse to make him more interesting, but it didn't. I wouldn't have cared if he never showed up again after his last appearance.

Nico

cuz none of those things were done very well sadly

TalynOne

What terrible send off for Wesley, and Picard is way out of character

TinMan_7B9

Creepy Camouflaged Child-Charmer (Coming from Tau-Alpha C) Convinces Crusher Changing Careers Can Cure Conflicted Close-minded Condition. C. Certainly Cannot Condone Crusher's Cowardly Choice. Clumsy Conclusion.

I think they should have connected the dots more that Wesley is likely as hated as Ensign Sito was and that would have explained why nothing is working in his life. Good story outline, bad execution. I do like that DS9 redeems this a bit by showing after the Enterprise warped out the solution didn't work and the problem got worse.

George Bratcher

Boys, keep traveling on! Minor spoiler, but you won't know when or where until you get there, and then you might remember this comment! Oh, yeah, besides TRAVELING, a lot of stage dressing going on here, and it will all make sense eventually, and the stage dressing goes PAST TNG, but you'll know when you get there, and then "POOF" MIND BLOWN when you look back, but you'll remember it all started with Ensign Ro & Chief Obrien! I'm ready for Alex and Josh's JOURNEY, not about to END any time too soon, so it's going to be a JOY to watch you both JOURNEY!

Herby Ragan

Bad episode imo. And the cringe level is high.

Paul Hess

I like cranky rebellious annoying Wesley much more than whiney genuis annoying Weasley!

Rick McCombs

I have always thought that after Wesley repeating his first year and everything he went through that having him quit was a not a good direction for his character.

Ian Westcott

This was damned 'meh.' In the episode, the resolution sounds iffy, and now that we know how it panned out (leading to the Maquis), the resolution is kindof terrible, all because Picard got guilt tripped by the Native Americans. Great.

tyranusfan

The setup for the Maquis was fine, and obviously they mined that plotline well, but the Picard guilt trip and Wesley's bad end are a turn off for me. B

Mikaby

The Native American thing was too heavy-handed and on-the-nose. Petulant Wesley getting super powers was ridiculous and cringey. Despite the basic idea of the conflict being an interesting one, I can't see giving this episode anything other than an F (or an E in this tier system), because I hate the particulars, and the whole Wesley plot sucks all the way to the core. Kill it with fire, please.

GrimDark Narrator

A low B or high C tier for me. It was good to see a more grown-up Wesley after all those years in the show, but I think having him just get superpowers and go with the Traveler undermines his whole journey from Acting Ensign to going to the Academy and beyond. The Native American displacement story was also a bit heavy handed.

JoeCensored

The episode is fine, but his attitude just bugs me. Never really liked this one. I do enjoy the Picard story though. C
