Michael Mannisto

This is a fun one. Can't wait to watch your guys reaction later.

Sherman Lin

I was hired by Post office and worked the night shift in the 90s so I didn't watch television but I listened to the local right wing political talk radio channel and the host only wanted to talk about X-Files instead of politics...thats how I learned about X-Files and I only watched it years later on DVD....keep pushing these are good decent episodes but in later seasons omg...the variety the bold choices made...I can't say anything but you'll see if you keep pushing...I luv the X-Files

Prof Moff

Jeez, they didn't even say that Dr. Kendrick made an ADAM too and the most famous Adam that Dr. Kendrick made was.............. KHAAAAAAANNNNN!! okay not really but that would have been fun

Ryan

"Mulder and Scully, here to see Eve 6." "First, you must swallow your pride and choke on the rinds." Eh, that was funny to me. Seriously though, my standard X-Files comment: I'm here for Star Trek reactions, but X-Files reactions have been a wonderful bonus. As long as you still feel like doing these reactions, I'll keep watching 'em.

Alan Thompson

What a difference a role makes, now you are delighted every time Jerry Hardin steps out of the shadows to put a word in Muldars ear and vanish again..

MrDeadstu

Creepy little kids aside, a decent episode. This has become such a treat doing the full watch along to the X-Files, I have watched only certain ST full episodes but I have and will watch all the X-Files. Soon will come a time when you will have to edit the reaction because your post-watch discussions will be so long. I look forward to that time. You guys added some joy to Mondays, bless you two.

Brandon Blume

Love the twists in this. Is it vampires? No. Is it aliens? No. Is it Sally Kendrick and Eve 8? No. It was Tina and Cindy the whole time. They're such great little actresses too. Subtle and creepy.

PianoDean

The mind-blowing episodes are on the way....you'll def KNOW when you see one that it's something special.

Thicketdweller

I don’t know if you guys have seen this video. But I saw it when I watched Eve for the first time and I realized I liked hearing Chris Carter talk about the way the show was made These are gems of backstory lore and insights into a creative mind https://youtu.be/V4hYqqApFQY?si=UDUVRPTpzRpDV1vN

Zenlike Creature

Come on, Chaps, persist with the X-Files. It is one of the major factors for me signing up here (and DS9 as well). Honestly, you will not regret it. If you've enjoyed it so far, it only gets better! Really great episode that misleads you well in the opening 15 minutes before placing you ahead of Mulder and Scully for the final 15 minutes. Bit of trivia: Harriet Sansom Harris (Sally Kendrick) played Frasier's agent, Bebe Glazer. She was one of my favourite recurring characters in that series.

Ca$hWednesday

I'm here for Trek and X-Files. Throw Twin Peaks in there and I might even consider upping my tier again ;)

penoyer79

i almost enjoy the x-files' monster of the week episodes more than the ufo stuff. especially when they lean into the campiness of it. so good. Expanse lost me after season 3 as well.

HS

There two mind blowing episodes for me in this first season. Def more in the next ones.

THE LORE!!!

Ever hear of the band Eve 6? They based their name on this episode! I like that the show was able to misdirect everyone to thinking maybe Vampire, to maybe UFO. Nope, clones.

John A

I also loved that this episodes makes you think it might be vampires, then Mulder thinks it is Aliens and it turns out to be Human testing, If I was Scully this would solidify in my mind that there is a scientific explanation to everything that Fox thinks are aliens, even if she can not explain it.

BN13

When it comes to Space being the worst of the series, for the most part I agree, however I'm not including some of the later seasons in that because some fans consider them controversial. For instance, I'm in the camp where I would probably prefer Space over almost every episode in season 9. But then I'm a fan who really hates season 9. Some people love that season. Even then, I can see why Space would probably be more boring than anything in season 9. That said, I'm having a really hard time trying to think of any laughably bad episodes this entire show. There's some that are fun and goofy, but arguably those are some of the best ones. Usually if we get one that's "bad" it's because it's meh, forgettable, or boring. Or it's controversial where some fans love it, and some fans hate it. I don't think any get to Star Trek levels of "so bad it's good." I could be forgetting something though.

BN13

Honestly, I think you guys might end up liking X-Files more than Star Trek. It should be right up your alley, especially later on once it really gets going. Plus X-Files doesn't get abstract like Star Trek can be sometimes.

Skye Maidstone

I'll definitely stay if you 2 dumb asses stick with this and ds9. enjoying another X-Files rewatch with fresh eyes on it

Skye Maidstone

I agree. I think X-Files definitely peaked and i didn't really enjoy the final few seasons. I can't really say anything much without being spoilery

Skye Maidstone

You might also enjoy Fringe. Which is very similar to X-Files in a lot of way.

Jeremy B

I didn't mind the last season I think, not really much mythos stuff but the episodes were fun

BN13

See that's how I feel about season 7. That's possibly my favorite season, and I feel like the show might have been better off if it had just ended there. Then again, some fans hate season 7. To me, 9 feels like the whole season is written very poorly, and had very slow/weird pacing. Every episode felt very padded, like it was a 10 minute episode stretched out, and it felt like everyone was really checked out by then. Plus most of the plots felt like they were just worse versions of stuff they had already done, or were just really stupid or cringe. Kind of like TNG season 7 with episodes like Liasons or Masks, but way worse. It still has it's moments though, but they are few and far between, and I just find that whole season really bad/boring. If TNG Season 7 was "we ran out of ideas," then X-Files season 9 is "we're just riding it out." A shame, because I feel like it could have been really good if they had just gotten creative and put some passion into it. I think most fans feel that the show peaks at one point, and then isn't as good. But what's interesting is everyone differs on WHEN exactly they think the show peaks. Some say 9, some say 7, some say 4 or 5, some say 3, and some even say 1. The show is just so diverse that not everything it tried gelled with everyone.

Troubled Tribble

You know the show was low budget when they keep driving the same 91 Chevy Crosica. My first car and it was horrible.

Sherman Lin

The last season should not be watched...all the prior seasons were good though

Skye Maidstone

It had some good episodes but yeah the leads were no Mulder and Scully

Skye Maidstone

Incredible that it got so big they had budgets of $3m per episodes by season 6.

Paul

Fear not, the show has a very strong baseline, but there absolutely are S-tier giga bangers coming too.

Paul

They may like it more than some Star Trek shows, but more than DS9, TNG? Tough to say. But the fact it's even in question goes to show how good x-files is.

Paul

I think the best way to say it, there are very few boring x-file episodes. Or outright poorly produced episodes.

BN13

Hard to say. X-Files and Star Trek excel very well in very different things. X-Files will never get close to the stuff that TNG and DS9 do best. But X-Files is very good at keeping you hooked and entertained, it excels with mystery and horror, and in general I think TA will like a lot of the X-Files plots far more than the TNG Sci-Fi plots. But X-Files isn't the show you watch for episodes like The Drumhead, Duet, or Necessary Evil. You might get a lot of Genesis though. If anyone remembers my whole S/N thing, Star Trek is very N, but X-Files is very S. And TA are S. So I think they'll like it from that perspective.

DG

I take Alex's general point about certain shows in the medical and law genres, but note even something like ER had an episode directed by a heralded film auteur (Tarantino) in the mid 90s.

Adin

I always thought Season 9 was mostly fine (Not the best but also not the worst). I think the revival seasons are way worse. I truly despise them

Bantha Fodder

Sorry I’ve not watched the last couple xfiles. Life has been crazy. But I will get there! Don’t stop!

Scarpad’s Domain

In the break for Trek I'm starting the xfiles rewatch

WB

Love the x files reactions, please keep going!

Joe J

11 episodes down...only 207 more to go, lol.

penoyer79

i'm just hoping they get through at least the first 2 seasons. anything after is all gravy. the fact that they dug the space one is a good sign going forward.

penoyer79

they started up x-files just as i was finishing up rewatching season 2. doh! but i have loved every minute of these rewatches.

penoyer79

ER is one of the greatest shows ever made. full stop. undeniable. granted it went on too long, but those early seasons especially with George Clooney are groundbreaking and just awesome. Noah Wyle's new medical show The Pitt is also great. That would have you guys swimming in tears.

penoyer79

ER is the golden standard of medical shows. nothing has even comes close to it, other than The Pitt.

DG

I rate ER highly in many respects, but would put M*A*S*H (admittedly a hybrid) higher, as well as St. Elsewhere

HeatheЯ

Oooh, I would never call Homicide: Life on the Street a factory show.

penoyer79

This Star Trek void makes me wants MORE X-FILES.

penoyer79

CSI is a factory show.

Holly Davis

The addition of X-Files makes my subscription even better! I would love to see the whole series on the channel 😍

Scarpad’s Domain

i would say they peaked around season 6, but the later episodes werent terrible just unfocused

Scarpad’s Domain

of course if they do the series they need to do the spin off series as well

Scarpad’s Domain

as much as i like Jerry Hardin he's thge poster child for exposition dump

#MaxwellDidNothingWrong

Consistently good, never brain meltingly great The other end of the Spectrum is Babylon 5, where it is consistently -terrible-, punctuated by a few moments of absolutely peak sci-fi. Be glad for consistently good, you really don't want the reverse.

Loot Narsbaar

Season 9 is bad, but season 11 is good.

Brian

This was one of the first episodes I saw and got me into the show
