Narnman

ah so 'never' does not mean never! thanks lads

Vina

Really looking forward to your thoughts on this! This series was good, though some of the actors I thought were stiff (mostly the Spock actor). I seem to remember the show quality getting better and better for each episode, with episode 1 being good but the weakest and the last episode being the best - it's been a while though, I could be generalizing from misremembering. Edit: I was wrong about the Spock actor, he was a lot better than I recalled

THE Fans

You guys just made my day!

Thicketdweller

I think you guys talked about the episode longer than it actually ran either way. I don’t remember where I fell asleep. Was it in the episode or was it while you guys were talking?

David Wayne Fox

Thank you, guys. I really enjoy this series, and if you do decide to react to additional ones I believe you'll find the same loving attention to detail, lighting, sound, and writing throughout the entire run. These were made by a group of people that, like yourselves, genuinely love Star Trek.

Keith S

I liked it, but trying to follow on YouTube was more difficult than Paramount plus. I hate random adds.

Michel Provost

That was fun. I hope that you’ll give us other episodes from time to time.

Steven Johnson

Your appreciation of this episode, like any sequel episode, is going to depend on your love/appreciation of the original. I've always been a big fan of "Who Mourns For Adonais." So this was a novel call back. However. It's safe to say, "Mirror, Mirror" is a stronger episode, and so of course "Fairest of them All" had a stronger foundation to work from, and as a result it worked better. Incidentally one of the trade offs of watching that episode first is you did meet Mckenna before she was properly introduced. She appears briefly in that episode in bed with Mirror Sulu. Yeah, I'd love to see you guys bust out some more of these. The series has some great episodes, and you're absolutely right, they do begin to get a better feel for their characters. Also, the actor playing McCoy changes from episode to episode. In the Mirror, Mirror episode they had a different guy who I think gives a more authentic Bones performance.

Doctor Pulaski

Nice. I've only seen a couple of these, but I'd love to watch them for the first time with Josh and Alex, hope they do the rest eventually.

Target Audience

I’d cancel every streaming service before I ever cancel YouTube premium 😭

Harry Broos

I took a tour of the sets when it was still in Georgia, and to my shock and surprise Vic Mignogna and Chris Doohan gave the tour, AND Vic was in full uniform. Would love to see them again in Ohio

Collin Freeman

The actor who played Dr. McCoy was not as good as the guy they got later to replace him. I think Vic said this guy was basically a fill-in for the guy they wanted who later got to play the part.

Collin Freeman

I might be in the minority here, but I was never impressed with most of the stories for Star Trek Continues, but like you, I loved the devotion to detail to TOS.

James H

Larry Nemecek was kind of a last-minute replacement Bones. The actor they originally cast, Chuck Huber, had to cancel due to a personal situation. Huber returned from Episode 3 on, so you’ve already seen him.

Evan Guthrie

I recognized BSG Apollo immediately. Also Marina Sirtis's voice. Surprised you guys didn't.

Silk

Technically not in broadcast order. 😉 But while quality varies a bit in my opinion they are worth watching.

James H

Yes, Chuck Huber had in fact played McCoy in the Star Trek Continues “vignettes” they made before Episode 1, but he wasn’t available for Episodes 1 or 2. He’s a cool guy. Larry Nemecek (“Dr. Trek”) is the author of “The ST:TNG Companion” and the host of The Trek Files podcast. He’s a cool guy also and a huge Dr. McCoy fan.

Darin Wagner

What happened to all that "release order" talk? lol

Eric Wilson

This isnt real, it is fan fiction and it doesnt give away anything does it?

Darin Wagner

No sense of humor today, I see.

StealthMomo

An interesting tidbit about some of the cast and guest Michael Forest. Vic Mignogna, Todd Habercorn and Forest have all done extensive voice acting work dubbing anime. In Michael Forest’s case, his career is fascinating. In the 60s he was all over television, mostly in Westerns. His anime filmography is extensive, going all the way back to Armitage III, Blade of the Immortal, Ghost in the Shell, Mobile Suit Gundam, Appleseed, Cowboy Bebop… the list is mindblowing

Jeff Cornell

A humble suggestion: you could alternate reactions between DS9 and Continues until Voyager starts. Just for the meme of never letting DS9 be the only Star Trek show.

Jeff Cornell

Compared to a strict "release order" viewing of the franchise, this episode did technically have one very minor spoiler. When Uhura is revived, Kirk calls her by her first name, which was never mentioned in anything you've seen so far. If you continue with this show, I think there are a few more references to things you haven't seen yet, that might technically be 'spoilers', but I'm pretty sure they're all similarly minor. I'll have to rewatch the series now to double-check.

THE Fans

I legally downloaded the episodes from their STC website, for those having trouble streaming on YouTube.

Matt Everkoul

There’s only 11 episodes, so you’ve already seen 18% of STC. The guy who plays Kirk was also an anime voice actor, so wondering if the random guest stars/cameos in these was due to connections made at conventions w/neighboring autograph tables.

Jason Aud

Glad to see you doing another Continues! You discussed the bits I was pointing out in the end but I do hope you "Continue" the series along the way, my favorite Trek fanfilm and the one I kind of accept as canon. Other episodes do have some mild beats prior to/expanding on stuff in future Trek but not sure if a real issue.

Jonathan Llyr

Star Trek Continues is everything I ever wanted to do as a kid in the 70s watching Star Trek. I have nothing but admiration and respect for everything they accomplished. I spoke with Vic in Toronto a number of years ago and found him to be a great guy and a kindred spirit. You guys should keep watching - these episodes are such a gift, especially if you were there at the beginning wishing for a couple more seasons!

Jon1701

Larry Nemecek is the author of the TNG Companion books. My bible when I was a kid. Huge Star Trek Fan. I don’t think he is right as Bones, IIRC they got another actor in.

The Ninth Doctor

Love love *love* this reaction - what a wonderful early Christmas present. Thanks guys! Episode 2 someday, maybe..? 😉

Ryan

I never paid any attention to Star Trek Continues, but if Alex and Josh are watching it... and whaddaya know, it's pretty good! I like the very 1960s, high-concept sci-fi story that muses on the nature of aging and power. It is a little slow and not much actually happens, but that gave characters time to pair off and ruminate about the meaning of everything that was going on, which felt very on-brand for TOS. Also, insanely high production values for what's essentially fanfic. Everyone involved put their hearts into this, and it shows. Bonus points for the Heroes reference. That show gave us almost one season of fantastic TV! Then it continued for a few years. Looking forward to the end of 2026 when we get to episode 2!

Tim Nikiforovs

I don't know if either of you ever watched Mythbusters, but Grant Imahara from that show played Sulu. Unfortunately he died fairly young(50) a few years back. Perhaps after completing each trek series, you sneak in an episode of Continues. If my math works out, that would result in the Continues finale being the last bit of Trek content you react to, which would be an interesting full circle moment since you started with TOS.

Forbidden Donut

Sees a cameo by the guy who played Apollo in the BSG reboot, "That looks like the Doctor from Firefly" LOL

Forbidden Donut

This was a fun surprise because I somehow missed this when it dropped last month. I'd meant to get back to checking out Star Trek Continues, so this was the perfect excuse. I'm more of a TNG-ENT era Trek guy, but I've seen maybe 1/3rd or so of TOS and liked it (really ought to go back and see it all at some point), but this is still a really cool 'amatuer/semi-pro' fan production that sometimes feels like it while other times feeling pretty impressive. Thinking about how 2012 tech and enthusiasm allowed them to make something that felt pretty close to 1960's Hollywood, I'm not wondering if 2026 tech would allow a new set of enthusiasts to make something this good that looks and feels like TNG, like an unofficial 'Season 8' set just after "All Good Things"? I'm sure someone will attempt it eventually, if they haven't already.

Anthony Hernandez

When I saw in the credits the Guy who played bones (Larry Nemecek), his name was very familiar. I knew it was on the front of a Star Trek TNG book I had purchased back when the show was airing. I looked it up and sure enough, it was the Star Trek the next generation companion book that he wrote during the series run and revised to add info from the movies. Although his rendition of Bones was not very similar to the original, it was nice to see his name. The book is a good one to check out after having seen the movies. It has a lot of good behind the scenes stuff for every episode and the movies.

Who North America

Caught this late, but glad you did it. It's not my favorite from this series, but you can see how the series grows from here. Yes, it does get a lot better from here, and the final 2-parter is some of the best Trek you will EVER see.
