Teasing Pigeon

This is the start of a great chapter in ds9/Star Trek history

I’m loosing my hair anyway. Pfft! What do I care…

Good luck trying to get some of these brain damaged bastards to understand spoilers, and that you're not morons and can pickup vague references

Dru Blood

The exposition party add had me cracking up. Great stuff.

Do you remember the episode in TNG where Deanna Troi is in 10 Forward and gets really, really, REALLY into eating and almost blatantly sexualizing eating a chocolate ice cream dessert with hot fudge sauce? That episode was the very first Star Trek property of any kind to air a new episode after Gene Roddenberry's death. And the fandom went, "He was still on his deathbed and they were already going, 'Finally, we don't have to worry about Gene's creative control anymore. Give Troi a foodgasm onscreen!' They didn't even wait for the funeral before they went ahead and shot the episode." You're watching these in release date order. What just happened for you in TNG-land? It came to a glorious finale, a nostalgia-soaked sendoff to go do movies and let the next show breathe. DS9 was already the unwanted illegitimate child at the Star Trek table. They were told continually to never compete against the real Star Trek shows - first TNG, and then Voyager. Ira Behr, Ronald Moore, and the writing room of DS9 would not have been allowed to pull out all of the stops for DS9 S3 finale if it would in any way pull public focus from the finale of TNG. What you got instead was a Troi-gasm sea change in the writing of Deep Space 9. Now that DS9 was the only series on the air for a while, now that they found an audience, and now that a DS9 "mistake" would not tarnish the reputation of the precious TNG brand, there's been a shift in foundational context on the branding and business side of things. And that's all I'll say. Just pointing out some insights between series and reinforcing the journey in release date order's ability to see unique historical context.

A movie called 'Babylon' I believe. Crazy movie, started it but this was a reminder to finish it lol

Matchstick Jose

Nobody spoil Josh and Alex on their upcoming epic DS9 season 4 watch haircuts (known among the future Target Audience fandom as when the show “Grew the Mullet”).

I dont comment too much because sometimes I get my timeline off and im affiad I would give a spoiler. If I have by accident in the past I apologize. Love the channel its like im a teenager again discussing last nights star trek at school with friends.

This episode was definitely a shove at TNG to show that it was standing on its own from here on out. Also... Whoo! Season 3 and Generations!

A good way to think about the richness of the different story lines in ds9 going forward is its like our modern day real world You have the internal stuff (represented by Bajoran misfits like Kai Winn, the Circle, etc being like politics in the USA. TheMaquis could be comparable to whats going on with the border and the drug cartels, The Dominion Could be the Russians and the Cardassians Could be the Chineese, who we theorehtically are getting along with but are still a threat/rival. And we have other countries / governments like the Romulans, Klingons, Breen, Ferengi who could become entangled or allies in any of those areas. And still plenty of room to add and grow/ change characters roles within the universe.

Numinous2019

I get some future episodes of DS9 confused in terms of which season they are in. It's ironic that I don't have this problem with TNG, a show with little real continuity compared to DS9. So I'm going to be extremely careful about what I say going forward.

"That episode was the very first Star Trek property of any kind to air a new episode after Gene Roddenberry's death. And the fandom went, "He was still on his deathbed and they were already going, 'Finally, we don't have to worry about Gene's creative control anymore. Give Troi a foodgasm onscreen!' They didn't even wait for the funeral before they went ahead and shot the episode."" Who said that? Because by the time Roddenberry died he had had zero creative control for years and that wasn't a secret. "What you got instead was a Troi-gasm sea change in the writing of Deep Space 9. Now that DS9 was the only series on the air for a while, now that they found an audience, and now that a DS9 "mistake" would not tarnish the reputation of the precious TNG brand, there's been a shift in foundational context on the branding and business side of things." What are you talking about? Voyager started alongside DS9 season 3. That it started in January means DS9 managed to air 12 episodes before Voyager premiered but the seasons still ran concurrently. And of course the shows were all produced by Paramount, there was no fear that DS9s "mistakes" might tarnish TNG, that simply wasn't a thing. DS9 was created by the people running TNG.

The YouTube comment section’s reaction is, as expected, hilarious

I would cease reading the YouTube comments for this video

Josh probably loves it. YT is about engagement farming, if they get 1200 comments, mission accomplished.

Yeah just some guy a few hours ago mentioned blank from blank plainly, so best to avoid them now
