I watched about half the series but realized that it was extremely depressing, and I didn't need that in my life, so I stopped.

that's a shame, the show is incredible and while..."depressing"...it's about appreciating living. Also it has one of if not THE BEST finales of any show ever, it's worth it just to get there.
