Also, I got Ace Rimmer vibes from Riker's final moments with Kira on the Defiant's bridge. I realise they have to send him off with a final flourish, but it was a bit OTT for such a good episode.

Hi, Josh. Yeah, Rick Berman here. I love the trailer, but how would you feel if we put Riker in it everywhere. And maybe a voiceover that said, "Thomas Riker returns..." and ends with the kiss between him and Kira. Other than that, perfect.

First of all, this was great. Especially the parts where the dialogue was isolated at the beginning. Second of all the IRL trailer showed ****** from the first frame. (I hope they've seen the episode and I can say that).

Sometimes when watching something new I try hard not to form thoughts during the episode so when I first saw this I was in the zone and don’t remember if I noticed anything, I would make a horrible reactor because when he took off the side burns I think my reaction was ‘oh ok. Continue the story.’ But if I have time to form more of a thought I feel the pacing of the episode may be off.

Managed to take out a Dominion Warship when the previously most advanced class of ship in the Federation (Galaxy class, same ship type as the Enterprise) could not put a dent in their shields, which literally makes it the vessel that has kicked the most Dominion ass to date....but okay.

Mad respect for these guys for carefully cutting around one of the big big twists of this episode that the OG teaser trailer could not WAIT to reveal right out the gate.

Nah I don't buy it. They've loved weaker episodes than this one. Frakes guest starring, Dukat and Sisko verbally sparring like the best parts of the The Maquis two parter, and good old Cardassian intrigues to keep them guessing as the Season proceeds. My money is that they will love this one. Now the episode after that....that's the one I'd expect them to be disappointed by. But they've surprised me before with how much they enjoy this season so who knows.

Well, I can't promise there won't be any bad episodes this season (although you've enjoyed some of the ones I'd count as duds so WHO KNOWS!). What I can say for sure about the season is immortalized in the words of Mr. Sinatra. "The best is yet to come, and babe won't it be fine..."

I think aesthetically the ships in ds9 look awesome. The defiant is starfleet but very different, and the purple glow insectoid look of the jem'hada ships is also awesome, reminds me of the decepticons.
