Alex: “Oh shit.” Josh: “ Oh shit.” Data: “Oh shit.” 😆😆😆

Prediction - you guys are going to love this movie, just for the Picard/Troi scene in his quarters. Also prediction - you'll be pissed off that they didn't get the original Robert and Rene actors back for the photos in Picard's album!

Update: ah well, what do I know?

The Guinan pop was everything I hoped it would be. It was a moment I was looking out for and you didn't disappoint. Thanks guys. So happy to continue this journey with you.

Appreciate the banner change after the crash happens to "system offline" -- great detail. I already saw the uncut reaction, but had to watch it again. Glad that you guys enjoyed it!

I remember seeing this in theatres with a friend group and being mad that a friend of friend kept talking and ruining the movie for me. Later when I saw the movie on my own I realized that person talking isn't what made the movie unenjoyable. It's an interesting film, too bad Picard's not in it. TV show Picard and movie Picard are different characters that happened to be both played by Patrick Stewart.

Brian Clark

we had character development in star trek two and three with kirk and him dealing with death and in star trek six was him overcoming his hate with the klingons role in the death of his son

It's a weird one, this movie, almost too burdened by the meta expectations placed upon it. I find its better enjoyed if I completely dissociate from the TNG series, as though we're meeting these 'future' Enterprise crew members for the first time after getting a TOS-movie epilogue of sorts in Kirk's Final Mission. There's enough information provided to get a general gist of everyone involved of what their typical characters are, and at least two prominent story arcs involving them.

Killing Kirk Twice it is definitely a cinema sin

I always felt the uniform issue made the universe feel more lived-in. Riker changes after investigating the observatory, Geordi changes after being held prisoner on a Klingon ship, Picard changes after being out in the hot, dusty, sweaty desert. Worf keeps the old uniform because he stubbornley refuses to change to the new. It feels more real to me. And Picard changing his mind about kids and family feels natural to me. He found out he was good with kids in Disaster and then spent 30 years as a father and grandfather in The Inner Light. Then he met Nella in Lessons. I feel like that progression was natural; it just culminated with the death of Robert and Renee.

My boss at that time asked me for a movie recommendation for him to take his children too. I'd seen Generations. I recommended Stargate instead. I hadn't seen it, but odds were it was better.

Numinous2019

I thought that scene didn't work. A newspaper review here in Ireland referred to that scene as near-unbearable.....that's the negative use of the word. They didn't mean heart-breaking. There is no energy or movement in that scene and music could have helped it. It just felt very static and artificial to me.

Scott in Scotland

I think this one would have been better and landed more for me emotionally if OG robert and René were represented in the nexus and Picard had to choose to leave them. Ditto David for Kirk.

Scott in Scotland

Oh no. I just realised they are gonna absolutely love the second worst TNG film.

My ranking of the films they have watched so far. 1) II WOK 2) VI UC 3) IV TVH 4) V TFF 5) TMP 6) G 7) III TSFS

I realy like a lot of this movie, but like STVI it has some major problems, mainly coming back from the ribbon, why not come back while Soren is still on the Enterprise? Freakin frustrating lol Some of the Data gags, though pretty funny the first time, get a little tedious on rewatches. And then we have Kirk's death, I wish it was a little more epic, I mean this is Captain Fucking Kirk man! And for Picard to buried Kirk on top of that mountain, he would've had to carried his carcass and all the rocks up there, would've taken forever. Take his body home, for his second Hero's burial, and his legend to get even more epic It comes down to rewatchability, would I mind rewatching this? Sure, but I would rather rewatch STII, III, OR IV instead, in my humble opinion

My ranking so far for the movies is: Voyage Home, 2 search for Spock, 3 the wrath of Khan, 4 the undiscovered country, 5 the motion picture, 6 Generations there isn’t a lot horrid but nothing truly good and last the Final Frontier, i much prefer Trek being a tv show to movie, some of these movies may have huge gaps between my rankings.

Connor Watson

I think it's better than I did the first time I saw it, but this movie is still a mess. The lack of consistent uniforms is symbolic of the problems.

Loot Narsbaar

S,S, A, A, B, E, E minus minus. It’s long been forgotten but the 90s trek powers that be literally E tiered ST:V

Loot Narsbaar

No one wants me to go on a ten hour rant about the shortcomings of this movie so I will just say I agree with you guys that ST3 is a great movie and doesn’t deserve to lumped in with the “odd numbered bad ones”

Numinous2019

Yup! And then T.A. are going to find out how underwhelmed most people were with it.

FrankandStein

Wow, the way Josh's "Oh, shit!" preceded Data's "Oh, shit" may become an iconic TA moment.

Alexandra Shepiro

Alan Ruck in Star Trek He'll keep Hailing me, He'll keep Hailing me until I beam over. He'll make me feel guilty. ...

Joseph Krengel

Everyone always hates my rankings, but here's my order: 4, 6, 2, 1, 3, 8, 7, 9, 5, 10.

This movie is a tricky one. It never comes together, but there are great moments. Ron Moore is on record (if I remember correctly) as saying that the script was VERY rushed, as was production (albeit less so), and they were truthfully burned out after working on TNG and DS9 for so long, so it didn't get the care and attention it deserved. He has also said that he felt that "All Good Things..." was a better story than this was. I still get emotional though during Kirk's (second) death. During his one-man shows he was doing about 15 years ago he talked about how he based it on an experience he had with a leg he broke during a riding accident. He kept on trying to stand up, not realizing why he couldn't.

International Man of Leisure

If you close your eyes, Malcom MacDowell sounds like Bashir in full-on Doctor mode. Weird how DNA works, huh?

Robert Boykins

Data got a music video on YouTube y'all really would love 💯 Data : Tin Man it's epic IMO
