You and Alex should react to the movie Nowhere Boy (2009). It shows how the Beatles formed and is a great movie.

THE LORE!!!

The reason that the piano part of "I Want To Tell You" stuck out is something called "dissonance." It involves notes next to each other being played together at, or near enough to, the same time which creates a disconcerting effect. It can be quite jarring when the Beatles use it, as they are often so harmonious.

For an interesting experience in terms of where The Beatles were at the height of Beatlemania, definitely check out (or react with Alex) their movies: A Hard Day’s Night (1964) and Help! (1965); both directed by future Superman 2 & 3 Director, Richard Lester

The Beatles diversity and experimentality of sound is why I enjoy them.

Taxman was about Britain, where the top income tax bracket at the time was 95% (“one for you, nineteen for me”).

Yeah, I think it was an F played over an E chord. Naturally dissonant.

I mostly listened to Beatles compilation albums. I've been a fan since my teens, but I have never sat through Revolver, or many of the Beatles albums. If you did not know, Sergeant Peppers Lonely Heart Club Band is the greatest rock album of all time, take my word for it.

Would love to hear reactions to Pink Floyd's "Animals" or " Meddle" - two of the best albums of the 1970s and part of a multi-year run where Floyd released 5 S-Tier albums including Dark Side which you say you've already heard...David Gilmour's guitar work on the 20-minute plus song "Dogs" along with the social commentary of that song's lyrics by Roger Waters will blow your mind.... This 1 hour 1972 Pink Floyd live performance at Pompeii is epic https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NUDtRBwa2cI I was born in 1966 so was too young to be a Beatles fan- love Paul McCartney and Wings but am a Pink Floyd, Steely Dan, Doobie Brothers, Blood Sweat and Tears, Crosby Stills Nash and Young, Led Zeppelin, Eagles, Rolling Stones, Boston, Deep Purple, Rainbow fan getting into music in the mid-70s at age 10....if you have any interest in 1970s rock please ask!

The US top tax rate was 70% in the 1960s Its after countries all over the world let the Mega Rich Wall St and Tech Bro Types pay less than WE all do that things started to go down hill.... End of political rant...

There was no "reverse delay" in the 60s. They played tape recordings backwards.

Also remember these are MARGINAL tax rates. Which means if you made $1m, 700k does not go straight to the gov't.

Dell- yes but the breakpoints where these happened were ALSO relatively low The 70% bracket started at $200,000 in 1965, which in today's inflated dollars would be something like $2.5 Million- so basically normal people making $5,000 or $10,000 back then paid low taxes but CEOs etc would essentially be paying a "millionaire's tax" on everything above $200K. You could buy a house for $40K back then so $200,000 income in one year WOULD be like making a few million a year now....

I'm glad Josh is reacting to The Beatles and Pink Floyd side-by-side to hear how different music was just a few years later...
