Collin Freeman

Well, this is an unexpected surprise. Looking forward to watching this later. Happy 2nd Monday!

Thicketdweller🦊

Well, I Echo Collins sentiment. I just woke up. I wasn’t expecting this. What a great day. Thanks for a doubleheader sort of weak.

Katie Jackson

I wasn't expecting The X-Files this morning! This is one I usually skip on a rewatch but always look forward to your reactions. The female detective (who was born & raised in New York😂) was Janice, Chandler's annoying sometimes girlfriend on Friends. It's actually funny that you mentioned Fran Drescher doing the role. The character of Janice has a very "Fran" voice that the actress does on Friends that's inspired by Fran Drescher 🤣 P.S. appreciate the shout out guys. Loving the journey so far. Can't wait for Season 2!

Zenlike Creature

Wooo! Two X-files episodes in a week! You're spoiling us! Thank you :) Don't be sad this season is almost over, Alex, you've got 9 more seasons (and two movies) of X-Files to work through... and I'm totally here for it ;) A couple of faces from TNG (Child's mom) and Voyager (Detective Fiori) in this episode. Hope you noticed - it's a sad habit I've developed over the decades of watching TV and film. I feel like the Leo Dicaprio meme... I don't mind this episode but I don't think it's one of the better ones of this season. Not much more to say on it. It's ok.

KevinH

Oh! My! God!

It was hilarious watching TA talk about salt in the bathtub as how it was salt water, meanwhile the scene because the cop and his wife was going on exactly in front of the aquarium with it clearly being shown in the background. I could not help laughing my ass off because I knew. Also I had forgotten how many time the aquarium shows up in the background or even the foreground until this rewatch.

Ryan

Yay for more X-Files! I predict more than one episode a week as the show starts ramping up. It’s just too good to stay away. As for this episode, great setup that doesn’t really go anywhere. The reincarnation story was pretty tropey even for the ‘90s. They tried to make it mysterious but ended up underbaking the character motivations and backstory. Still X-Files; I still enjoyed it.

Narnman

maaaaaaan this episode was a real drag. I could not wait for it to end. I put both the episode and synced you guys up at 1.5x speed mid way through. I would go along with bad and boring - the worst combination

Keith S

Tony Fiori looked familiar. Looked up who played him, Brian Markinson. He was on two different episodes of Voyager. One of wich you just showed a target audience on.

BusterB

Great episode but half way though it felt like a rip off of the 90's film Ghost.

Keith S

She's the one who would always say Oh! My! God! Right?

Katie Jackson

Yes, to the point it would make Chandler's cringe. I remember him mentioning that it made his balls jump up inside him in later seasons 🤣

Martin Wilson

Back to back reactions with Brian Markinson the receding hairline line guy who was also the random crew member in Voyagers “Cathexis” Loving the reactions boys.

Demijan Omeragic

Getting this unexpected upload was a really pleasant surprise! Thank you! :D Sometimes it's interesting to see how fan opinions differ on these episodes. For me, this is actually one of the better season one stories. If I had to pick the bottom three season one eps myself, it'd be "Space", "Ghost in the Machine", and "Shapes". And the top three? Really hard to say. Not sure what to pick there. I also always separate the mythology from the standalones, meaning I'd never compare episode "Deep Throat" against "Shadows". But either way, very enjoyable reaction, although I was sure you'd enjoy it much more than you obviously did.

Gabriel

I still think this episode was better than the NASA episode

ScotchBeard78

Surprise upload of another X-Files?! Hell yeah, boys. Two eps a week is the dream, especially when you think of how there's 200+ episodes to enjoy. Thanks for the extra treat this week. Love your reactions, love hanging out with you both as you go on this journey.

I can understand why the is not that great to Josh and Alex. Now I enjoyed it. What I liked about it, I like that Mulder was focused on the supernatural aspect, and never got to why these men, which is not made know to either Mulder or Sully until Tony Fiore confesses at the end. Which is why, it was important to have the Fiore and Leon Felder to discuss the money in the safety deposit box. Which I agree was bad acting and ruined the scene. A murder case was solved but shows a weakness in Mulder, since he can not really be happy that a case was solved, due to the fact he could not prove what he wanted to prove, so to him, it is left unsolved. Hope that makes sense

tyranusfan

OH...MY...GOD! It's Janice!

Scribe31oz

You can be a dick to your wife, but you can't be a dick with that hairline....OMG...I'm dying. Thank you for the extra episode :) That being said, I still like this one.

Isaac Schreiber

yeah this ep is a bit mid, the fish tank reveal and the guy getting tossed out a window are the highlights for me.

Sherman Lin

So hilarious that we can't say anything because of spoilers and you can't possibly even imagine what you don't know is coming...they will ratchet up the quality and excellence of the show by several orders of magnitude....you will not be disappointed in the future....season 1 is so weak compared to later seasons....going to be so much fun seeing you guys lose your shit in upcoming episodes...seasons etc....and again you ultimately will like this show more than Star Trek...you'll see

Tim Nikiforovs

I'd agree this is pretty near the bottom for this season. Questionable acting, and phoned in effects. "Let's crank up the blue lighting"(not to be confused with blue lightning). Granted that might be better than the outright BAD VFX in Space. I think Josh's rating is spot on. D, or C- if we're being generous.

Scarpad’s Domain

I think the scene explaining plot is that they only get 44 min. But I agree sculls and murder should figure it out

Scarpad’s Domain

I agree they could have let the scene out with the bad guys. But the fish tank was the dude leaving the girl. And no way was this worse than Space

Scarpad’s Domain

I disagree I thought the guest actors were not that bad

Scarpad’s Domain

The fun is watching Columbo figure it out . It was so good Poker Face took it for its show

Adin

This episode and the Next one are like the worst school subjects lined up on a cold Tuesday morning

StonyD

She and Duchovny dated for a long time. I imagine this is where they met.

Skye Maidstone

The diver in the image from the fish tank being the last thing the dead guy was pretty neat. Pretty forgettable episode though.

Skye Maidstone

Columba is a "how done it" rather than "who". The Sinner is an excellent detective show which is a "why done it". All can work can work as great shows

Zerocooleo

Bad and boring you say...Like pizza, even when it is bad it's still pretty good. Bad X Files is better than no X files...like pizza!

Mel Schleming

maybe spoiler, but thankfully AI guy doesn't get a sequel X3 This was never one of my favorites, but I thought it was "alright", I've revisited it a few times, but yeah, good point re the mystery being spoiled, when your standards have been set so high this definitely doesn't live up to them. on the original DVD box set of Season 1, the disc that included this episode, had that staticky diver face image as the artwork, and it was always a nice "Twilight Zone spooky" energy.

Mel Schleming

also my sister named her dog Mully :p

Brandon Blume

She's Janice from Friends. With the annoying laugh.

HS

This always felt like the Lazarus episode, but with a little girl. Too similar to be in the same season.

BN13

I don't remember ever seeing this episode before, but i know i have, because I binge watched every episode in order. No memory of this episode at all.

It is absolutely possible for a marriage to be based on one of them wanting to take care of the other. Especially with older generations where women weren't expected to support themselves, and were expected to "find a man to take care of them." This is the relationship my grandparents had. Actually, their situation was almost exactly like this. My actual grandfather was my grandmother's first husband. They later divorced, but my grandmother couldn't support herself, so she needed someone to take care of her. My grandfather's best friend ended up marrying her specifically because "he wanted someone to take care of." That, and he absolutely hated anything having to do with welfare, and he didn't want my grandmother to go on welfare. I knew both men growing up, so I consider both of them to be my grandfather. I'm pretty sure my grandmother always truly loved her first husband more though. I think she married the second one more for the money. She was always very independent though, so she never spent much time with either of them. She liked living on her own. She literally only saw her second husband for one week out of the year while he spent the rest of the year working in Virginia, and she told me she wouldn't be able to stand it if she had to spend more time than that with him. The guy was fine with this though. He felt like he was needed, and he loved to work.

The biggest flaw of the X-Files is most of the bad episodes are boring bad and time feels like it is running backwards. Whereas the last DS9 was terrible but it still has the Sikso B Plot and the joke of paying admission to enter someone's home.

Loot Narsbaar

Same, I watched all 11 seasons in order a few years ago and I have no memory of this.

Loot Narsbaar

Space at least had Susanna Thompson
