Paul

Always get goosebumps from Marco's speech at the end there. Especially with the music that slowly rolls in. I love to hate him mainly because a lot of what he says are legitimate grievances, even if he isn't necessarily fighting the fight purely for the cause, but his own malignant ego. And obviously, doing so in the most monstrous way imaginable (highest body count human being ever?) So that's why I love to hate him, because his words do sway me to an extent. Again it's the method and his insanity that derail him, but that's why he's a villain. How much subjectivity is there in terms of acting performance? The whole "beauty in the eye of the beholder". We can all agree that Megan Fox in transformers is the epitome of hotness. Likewise, we all agree Patrick Stewart is a world-class elite actor. I personally think Keon Alexander plays the role stupendously well, as a self-righteous narcissistic & manipulative terrorist commander. However Josh, you're not alone in thinking his performance isn't good. Part of it may just be that he IS a performer. His ship and crew, he's always on stage for them. Shallow Hall of acting I guess. I've seen 5 other Expanse reactions up to this point (I have a problem), 3 of them hated his performance, 2 adored him (one of whom was basically fangirling the whole time he's on screen lol). So 4 hates, 2 loves. No one was just meh on him so either way at least he evokes strong opinions. But yeah Alex, if you don't enjoy the Belter / Earth / Mars politics, fair enough, just preference at that point. I remember on my first watch being more interested in the alien aspect too, but the politic warfare aspect grew on me overtime.

This is one of my favorite movies that no one ever seems to remember. Great excuse to watch it again with you guys.

Their ability to not know what is going on needs to be studied. It said the astroid hit the same time as the explosion in the dome on mars.

I agree with Paul -- Marco's great talent is making his own personal revenge seem like everyone's grand cause. They could have gone all General Hux spittle-flecked screaming with his character. I like that he stays seemingly earnest and is just self-aware enough to be dangerous. With that said, there's real intellectual honesty in admitting that a show just isn't your style even though it might be objectively well written or directed. Not every show is for everyone. There's still stuff to appreciate and you guys are good at calling it out.

One thing they expressed frustration with is all the characters. Have they seen game of thrones? This is pretty much game of thrones in space.

Ryan

Yeah, Game of Thrones meets The West Wing. In space.

I pictured Marco to be a lot older in the book. This actor has no aura at all for the part unfortunately

All this time and all these episodes watched and now Alex doesn't like it? I would never have expected that. LOL!

I think we can all agree he makes people hate him, so thats good for the character right? :D

Shawn Anomaly

It really does, especially since most times it has led to unjustified criticisms! Even their long laundry list of character hatreds have been borne of not paying attention or at least not bothering to fully understand why the characters do what they do or in the way they do it. So they judge as piss poor tv characters and/or bad writing.

Makes me nervous if I should even bother watching this episode (I'm playing catch up). It's been going downhill hard so I'm not surprised that one of the best episodes and as a result typically one of the best reaction episodes for channels ends with that sentiment here. EDIT: Just checked out the comments from 5x10 just to see what's what and it'll probably be best for me not to watch this. Usually I have a good time seeing how folks react to this bonkers episode. From what I'm reading it seems like such was not the case here, the finale, or the season overall. That's too bad but then again the show wasn't a Star Wars, Star Trek (the IPs I don't care for so I guess a reverse of things) level of popularity with the population.
