There actually IS a live action episode where the crew is shrunk down. Can't tell you, no spoilers, but it'll be a while before you get to it! :)

I like the fact that Nurse Chapel has a bit bigger role in this series. Since Majel Barrett was already there recording the voice of the computer, you might as well use her voice a bit more to help flesh out the Nurse Chapel character too.

I had totally forgotten about this episode. I remember as a kid thinking it was funny when they used a toothpick to try to open the door eye beam. I didn't understand why there would be toothpicks just laying around the Enterprise. Yesterday I was watching the MST3K episode where Joel leaves the station and in the beginning he builds a model out of toothpicks. The robots ask where he got the toothpicks and he says "...we're on a spaceship, this place is crawling with toothpicks".

I think you can see by now why the fandom INSISTED for years that TAS was canon. And why the powers that be finally capitulated. Even more callbacks to TOS are on the horizon and a number of little things that will be referenced either directly or obliquely in future iterations of the franchise. Another great reaction. Your posts have long since become the highlight of my week.
