Hey everyone! I’ve got to take a few weeks off. This month is a lot to juggle on top of some really work-intensive pages that are coming up and I really don’t want to rush this next scene or set myself up for burnout next year.

Next page is going to be out Dec 29th.

In the meanwhile this month, one week I may post thumbnails and sketched bits up upcoming pages, or some WIPS, I’m not sure. That won’t be the new normal though. I just want to recalibrate and we’ll go back to the steady rhythm of Monday full page posts at the end of December and into the new year. (If there’s anything anyone has questions about or might like to see in the process though, feel free to comment and I’ll answer if I can!)

Also, I will be at MFF next weekend helping out at my partner’s table (#H9)! Feel free to come by and say hi. I’m happy to sign books or whatever and I’ll have a couple things in the art show for anyone inclined.

Anyhow, I also wanted to say a quick thank you for being here! The world feels like it’s on fire and everything has been a lot harder, but I’m very grateful for the space to make art and share it. Take care guys!

Very interesting Do you’ll think the bison have a different version of the story?

Pencil Pavlova

Oh is this the wolves explanation for the prevalence of blue eyes after puphood I wonder I love this kind of in world explanation for things, it makes everything feel so much more "lived in"!

Grey

I’m so into this. I’d love to see the story from the bison’s perspective because I imagine there’s less admiration from their end, given all the hints so far.

Rachel

I wonder if the bison feel the same about the wolves

JD

I wonder the same!

Have fun at MFF and enjoy your recalibration, and thanks always for sharing all your beautiful stories and artwork!

Good to hear you're allowing yourself to take some time off. I don't understand how you practically never miss a week, you definitely deserve a break. Have fun at MFF!

Looooooove this lore!! Hope you have a good December, take the time you need to stay charged!!

Love it!!! I’m also enjoying the way Pivot is leaning against Hap, they seem quite close :)

Seems like the wolves think they’re creating their own version of society. More flawed than Oren’s it seems, but unfortunately with more cohesion, at least from their side. Not a good look for our guys.

Such a noble sentiment... until you realize that "we" only applies to those in their pack. There is no sharing, no compromise. Everyone else gets trampled in their path. Dear lord, the wolves and bison have embraced Stalinism.

Busterdrag

They started as probably the same as the ones that taught Oren about fire and weaponry. Starving refugees from a ruined wasteland, bound by need and embracing a new way. Unfortunately, whereas Oren and his Warren embraced a new way of coexistance, perhaps even with predators who are willing to listen (which makes sense as they're most "peaceful" prey species), the Bison are (much like in real life) scary, violent tanks made of muscle and fur and wolves are, well, wolves, scarily adaptive pack hunters. Two "violent" survivor species like this teaming up perhaps could have only ended in their current way of "We will move on and trample and eat all who stand in our way". It makes sense the Bison want to surpress the other kind of civilization that is starting as they do have a lot of power with a massive pack as theirs.
