Knackered, a game too far unfortunately but no shame in that

Stewart Thomson

Always felt like a 1 goal game, sadly they got it.

Jim Milne

45 years of following Rangers and this is the most consistent we've been in Europe in my life. No embarrassment going out tonight. Sure we can point to the penalty or own goal, but realistically from where we were when Clement came in to now is amazing. I had written this season off when Beale was fired. Still going for a treble, euro cash in the bank, time to rest between games and get players back for the old firm games.

Bomber Brown

We looked dead on our feet. Going out tonight (as much as none of us wanted it) might just be the reason we pick up a treble this season.

Jason Hodgson

Proud of our team we didn't let ourselves down u could see they were tired and gave everything now we need to focus in domestic football hopefully we can secure the treble and get the injuries under control in PC we trust

David Mackie

Sorry you all missed the fact we are sadly lacking in any invention middle to front plus a No 9 who simply is not good enough. Plus Ranges when they win corner it's actually a danger to us, our lack of invention/skill at dead ball situations glaring. They scored off our corner plus the corner we won 5 minutes before that they also broke on us and nearly scored yet we failed to learn from that. Overall it was close but that was a real chance to progress thrown away.

Simon H&H

No complaints. Good run again. Lack of quality in forward areas cost us. All focus on the league

Ryan Stewart

A step too far tonight given injuries and the schedule we have faced. We looked dead on our feet from around the hour mark. No complaints from me about the effort and desire of the players. The lack of quality options in the final third really showed tonight. One more big push on Sunday and reset during the international break.

Spoon

No complaints tonight about the result, teams out on their feet and we could do with the switch in focus. Cammy harsh on Wright who played as well as anyone and had a part in most chances. Can’t think who had a better game even Dio who has been excellent only had legs for about 50 minutes. Dessers given very little work with but again worked hard, punting up to him just doesn’t work, that’s not his fault but those doing it. Never like to lose but we have had worse losses, they just had a little more quality when it mattered.

Cameron Bell

Tav had a better night and so did Souttar however I also said Wright was good in parts and showed good pace, just a final ball missing. I’m not sure where that’s being harsh tbh.

Spoon

Think you opened up with he was poor, don’t think he was and he’s just a whipping boy for some and to my mind the majority of decent passages of play he was involved, if we had been better at finishing he could have had a few assists. Certainly think going forward he was the most direct and willing to run at them, that could well be simply as the rest have nothing in the tank and he’s fresher. Think he was far from poor myself so saying he was is harsh to me.

Alan Stewart

Run out of steam tonight, injuries caught up. Not too disheartened. Get the 3 points on Sunday and back down the road. This international break is coming up at the right time for us. Big shout out to Souttar tonight, he was outstanding. Onwards and upwards bears 🇬🇧

Gordon Mitchell

I think the players are knackered at the moment, mentally and physically. There are just not enough fit players to effectively manage all fronts. I hope that we can beat Dundee, which will be a scrap, and make it to International break. Some respite and some players back would be nice and gear up for run in. Although you never want to loose we were never winning this competition so best still being in the ones we can win.

Gordon Millar

Good pod, to my mind captured the mood of the support well, in my opinion👍

Cameron Bell

I don’t think it’s fair to compare him to others because he’s fitter and could easily be deemed as “should be doing more” however his final product is probably the main reason he’s not featuring more. It’s fine to judge him on individual merit and still class him as limited - more than a few people I spoke to wrote him off as soon as they saw the team sheet and as I said at the start, I think he confounded some of those opinions but he wasn’t a standout.

mark wyper

Disappointed but if we're being honest we were never gonna win the Europa league because of teams like Liverpool in it but I really want the league.

Colin Mathie

Agreed. We're going into the run in with these same knackered players, not signing a no.9 is coming back to bite us sadly. We cant go into next season with Dessers as the main guy, he's rotten.

Colin Munro

Agree wi Colin abt Tav aving a great defensive show… a few of us in GF6 were sayin th same

Trev @JimmyBell_Loyal

Lawrence was not man of the match. Yes the guy was knackered but he gave away the ball several times. And he shouldn’t be as tired as everyone else when he’s not been playing all season. Defo Tav for MOM. We could have played all night and never scored. Phil took too long to make changes. Changing a game when we’re 1 down isn’t good enough

Jim Milne

Roofe is made of glass. I'd love to have him be our #9, but I don't even think he will make it to the end of the season without another injury.

Jim Milne

Hopefully Danilo is ready for August. He looked like he was fitting into Clements system before he got injured.

Billy Forrester

I thought Lawrence had a poor game tbh, continually gave ball away and passing was off. Tav and Souttar were excellent tonight. Proud of the team though, the legs were gone 2nd half and this 2 week break cannot come quick enough to allow a recharge for a treble push

Thomas Blair

Not to look too far ahead but I think last night is exactly what the old firm game will be in a few weeks. So vital we score in the first half.

Glyn Davies

As the famous Jackson Brown song goes......Running on empty! Losing by a goal over 2 legs to a team who are 6 times Champions league finalists & have a budget that has players on the bench worth more than our entire squad, no shame to it for me. We're dead on our feet & at the bare bones......They were clever in there approach & nullified our biggest threat from last week in Silva.....let's get Sunday sorted & get the players rested & recovered during the international break ready for the last burst of games that will hopefuly result in a domestic treble come May 🫶🔴⚪️🔵

Angus Mackay

Well said Glyn. They weren’t as strong in reality as they were on paper, but they do have sone fabulous players. In better circumstances we could have taken them, but it was clear from the first minute that our midfield especially is out on its feet. Eyes on the realistic (for this season) prizes - the Dundee game was always far bigger strategically. I’m normally all about Europe, but a league win this season would be strategically important - especially given what’s happening with the co-efficient.

Simon Botterill

A missed opportunity last night, but maybe a blessing or deliberate decision by big Phil. The subs were made too late when we had control but legs were gone on certain players. Benfica very underwhelming but we are too short.

Simon Botterill

Souttars best game, committed fully or stood off fully. None of that half baked approach. Lawrence needed to go at 60 after his fifth poor pass in a row. Tav superb

Douglas Innes

Other than a couple of players I wasn't impressed with Benfica at all , they'll need a kind draw to progress

David Baillie

That’s got to be a world record for the number of times the word “leggy” was spoken in any podcast. If you think you’re tired you will be tired. Heads up, ice baths for everyone and let’s go for a big win at Dundee on Sunday. Brilliant support last night from both sets of fans. Nice to see the Benfica lads joining in at the applause on the 25 minute mark. Great to see our team applauded off the park despite a defeat. That’s why we’re called “supporters “. WATP

Al Robert

I thought the same with Lawrence and he was one of our worst performers yesterday. Thought he needlessly gave the ball away in promising attacks numerous times and was suprised to hear so many throwing is name in for MOTM shouts.

Spoon

All about opinions but he wasn’t poor for me, that’s where I think you’re harsh. The boy gets slated before she’s kicked a ball constantly and tonight he did have output carrying the ball middle to front and playing others in only for them not to convert. I get he isn’t well liked by the support, fully accept he hasn’t always maximised his chances in the team but last night, for me at least, he had a good game and middle to front don’t think many others played better. I suspect neither of us changes the other’s view, good pod and discussions what it’s all about.

Sandy White

We're not going to do much if we have to rely on Dessers. A good display by others - especially Souttar and Tav.

Steve Clark

Souttar was my motm by some distance.i know the pod is done straight after the match but Lawrence was nowhere close to being motm

Doogz

If I hear one more supporter saying don’t criticise Wright I will explode. He had a bright 10 minute period at start of the game then reverted to type. And had a fleeting 10 mins in the second half. His decision making is terrible, and as Walter said to KT, ok isn’t fucking good enough at Rangers son. Squad wise we weren’t prepared for a prolonged run let’s get 3 points on Sunday rest up for 2 weeks then go balls out for remaining games.

Cameron Bell

I’ve just listened to this - I said he WASN’T poor but I don’t think this came across in the audio. Apologies for crossed wires.

Cameron Bell

I don’t think he thinks like that to be honest, I’m sure he made reference to being asked about prioritising the LCF and he said he doesn’t do that. Every game is important

Spoon

Cammy all good and your more than entitled to disagree with me, I like Wright, I feel he gets slated unfairly a lot and fairly in equal measure. I do take umbrage when it seems folk are desperate to put the boot in before he’s kicked a ball but I also absolutely accept he isn’t at the standard required (and probably won’t ever be now) for us. Your comments otherwise were totally fair, I just think with some guys the fans (not you specifically) are quick to have them unable to do (w)right for doing wrong. Dessers, Borna now, for some even Tav have their good bits ignored and bad bits amplified. Respect your opinion just thought you started with “poor” and went from there! If it’s been my mistake then apologies, as I say enjoy all the discussions even those I strongly disagree with and it’s good to hear opposition views, you guys wouldn’t have any pods if it was all just agreement and there would be no forums. We all want the same thing, that’s the main point 👍🏻

Glyn Davies

Yes Angus, I'm always a big chair leader for Euro progress aswel, but we have to win this league, if we stutter between now & the end of the season & let that lot back in it'll be a torturous summer! We must strike while we can & break up the monopoly that lot have on the league! As for last night, with fresher legs & better options in attack I think we would of taken them, but we sre dead on our feet & hopefuly the squad can just muster enough energy to deal with Dundee & go into the international break for a well earned rest 🔴⚪️🔵

Simon Botterill

Just thought at 60 minutes with Lawrence's fifth poor pass in the row but still with all the possession he would have been bolder. Frustrating but we are in a great place under big Phil.

Rose Mcloughlin

A stupid wee observation...how miserable did we feel making our wee down from Ibrox heading home in that RAIN..but our players played in it all through the whole game...👏👏👏...I dont know if other fans were caught up in it but my heart rate went up when I walked straight into a wall of fans then felt the push behind me ..none of us could see in the dark what was happening then it slowly moved forward to discover it was a gigantic puddle at the bottom of the slope going into Mafiking street and fans were stopping trying not to wade through it..but they caused this bottle neck experience...we had to go through it and a fan tripped over a police cone in the crowd but saw the guys next to me pull him up...this spot always has wee puddles even when it is only drizzling but last night was a bit crazy....can nothing be done about this before someone is hurt...my heart went out to the dad who just held his son up in his arms and the wee guy was sobbing..not good enough.
