Glenn Butler

Out of 100 minutes of football yesterday, Celtic were in the lead in 91 of them. They were gutted yesterday. All to play for now, we have to be confident.

Graham johnston

Arsenal were awarded a penalty on Saturday against Brighton despite the Brighton player getting better contact on the ball than Johnston did. No one even argues about it. Unless it's Rangers of course.

David Martin

You can blame injuries or recruitment but I think their first goal shows how imbalanced that line up was. In the build up both Souttar and Sterling make slightly uncomfortable passes as they are right footers playing on the left.

Simon Lewandowski

surely there can be no doubt now that Tav Goldson and Lundstrum are mentally scarred after two many defeats against that lot its like they see those colours and freeze you know after 5 minutes when Lundstrum was dropping into defence to get the ball that he wasnt going to have a good game

Colin Munro

Good pod lads, even if Andy fluffed his research 😉 but some common sense to calm things a bit… still all to play for 🔴⚪️🔵

Kenneth Mackay

While your analysis is correct, the hard fact of the matter is that if the Dessers goal had been scored at the other end of the park it would have stood. VAR is never going back that far to rule out a Celtic goal against Rangers.

Steffen McAndrew

I have to say I found that the most enjoyable and cathartic podcast for a long time. Measured, balanced, constructively critical and positive. I have a nagging doubt our lack of firepower might be our undoing, but I BELIEVE!!!! I was so hacked off after the 1st half yesterday that I went for a marathon training run...hearing Matondo on the radio made me faster!!

Alan Cowan

Hi Simon. I think he was dropping back to take possession as Tavernier Goldson Soutter and Sterlings distribution from defense was non existent or bloody awful We gave up midfield and our link with forwards when this happened. Weather was a big factor

Lee

Goldson has dropped massively this season I think. Souttar at times looks out of balance on his wrong side IMO. To get anything against them away, we are going to need the midfield to turn up in an OF for the first time in years.

Alastair McGeoch

Having slept on it, it was a crucial point and to come back from 2-0 down not done since 1987 and then from conceding a 3rd in injury time is massive. We must win on Wednesday and put the pressure back onto them on Saturday. They and their fans have the league won in their heads as they clearly consider the Parkhead game as already won (Rodgers managed to stop himself saying it post match just). Take each game at a time, put the points on the board and let’s see where it takes us.

Brian Rae

I thought Tav was solely to blame for their first goal but I've watched it back numerous times from different angles, I have to ask, what was Jack Butland doing? Caught on his heels and sleeping, that's what. I'm still of the opinion that the central defence needs gutted in the summer.

David Innes

I could be clutching at straws here but I just can’t help thinking about how raging I would be if we fucked a 2 goal lead like that at Parkhead. It’s surely got to be a big psychological blow to their players

Jamie W

I think this moral thing is more than likely a language thing. I’m guessing he meant morale and the boost that it should give us and the likelyhood that Celtic will take that as a gut punch.

Graham McCallum

I have been fucking raging all day I will not lie. After that calm reflection from yourself and the Saltcoats sage I’m still fucking raging. Only joking it has helped a bit but I’m less sure than I was before kick off yesterday

Gordon Millar

Excellent pod gents, balanced and fair reflection of yesterday's match. I have to agree that at some points it felt as though it would be cruelest imaginable outcome..... Your honesty is why I subscribe to H&H because you stuck mostly to the football and leave the pantomime to media placed shockjocks......we have to keep believing, there is no other choice, the difference is we now have a manager who gives us all belief!

William George Bell

I know it was very difficult in the wind but Goldson’s attempt to head the ball at their penalty and his attempt on goal were like a primary school child, he needs replaced in the summer and should never have been given another contract when he stalled on signing one 2 years ago.

Graham Jones

David Holmes refused to accept a draw with them as acceptable and he started a revolution, and for some of us that’s where that attitude comes from. Once you accept second place you are losing and David Holmes wasn’t a loser. This is what Clement is trying to install into the players. Changing players, especially players who were written off after a few games this season, is hard to pull off. He is achieving that, one step at a time. They follow what he wants them to do mostly, and that is half the battle. He just needs to get them to do it for the full ninety in these games, because we’ve given ham a head start the last two games and it’s cost us a draw and now a win. Losing the first half 2-0 and then deciding to play wont cut it, so they have to show up for both halves and leave it all out there at Parkhead. First of all they need to collect three points midweek, or none of it will matter.

G Calder

Im hoping we think of Rabbi’s goal the way we think of McGregors penalty save from Samaras in the 2011 season .

LAURENCE MACRAE

Completely agree with Andy , at half time not only were we looking at needing to go to Parkhead needing a win , the way it was going the gd swing would have been worth an extra point to them , to come back and get a draw is massive. Goldson best / only ability at the moment is availability, be interesting to see if he gets selected from the start on Wednesday.

Craig Scott

I felt that we had to win the game on Sunday Now we have to rely on them dropping points (so other teams doing what we couldn’t) and us not getting beat at there place So not confident as I can’t see them slip up

Billy Forrester

We only need to draw at their place, they can win all the rest so not as big an ask as u have stated, not relying on any other teams apart from ourselves

Kev Armstrong

He was going to use his left foot to clear it, then it takes a nick off someone head and alters the direction,

Lawrence Scott

The wind did play a part in that first goal. It was zooming windblown back to Butland when a counter gust held it up. A big shout from the mainstand at that point. Tav realised at the same time and then started to run but Maeda had started before and was at full pelt.

Billy Forrester

Great pod, listened on my way into work, measured and as usual Andy brings perspective and calmness to it all. Cheers guys

Martin Boyd

I didn’t celebrate Matondos goal as I was watching on Rtv my son was watching in Luxembourg and I got a message , “ What a fucking goal what a man” 🤣 I’m thinking Tavs rapped one in from a mile out , what a time laps . Saved me scaring every cat in the street 🤣

Gary Shaw

Sorry for my geeky,OCDness but Matondos offside goal was in the first OF game of this season, not the dead rubber last season 🤣

Rona Bluebell

If you watch the Matondo goal again and look at the Celtic team, they doubled over in pain when it went in. That was more or less their final feelings. That matters. We danced off, they limped. Onwards!

Gary Brown

Thanks for the flagship pod David & Andy. Nice to hear the calm reflections after Sunday's storm. At HT the game WAS done in every sense, we offered nothing, they could sit in, contain and then counter, our well exampled weakness and point of failure so often this season. Them in total control of the situation for the upcoming 2nd half. One hand on the title! What happened next IS a moral victory, dictionary definition. The players reacted to the 'don't recognise you as my team' HT talk, were reminded of their morals, went out, showed them and got rewarded for applying them and sticking to them. That wasn't a language thing, the Gaffer's nuanced answers to mhedia traps shows his command of the language is better than every other manager in the league. The obvious reaction to the phrase is expected, also shallow thinking. As the lads said his message is to the players (fans too) - we play this way, my way, and we WILL succeed. The team have shown it many times this season and this was the sternest test yet. Morals and morale are intrinsically linked. That mhob could, SHOULD have put it beyond our control. They didn't. They COULDN'T due to our guys morals. I thought the crowd did fantastically well given the circumstances. 5 months ago Ibrox would've emptied at HT, I only saw a few leave at 2-3. We're now believing in the morals of Clement's Rangers too.

Tommy

There's hope for diamonde but I fear he's an expensive kamara

Niall MacKay

Wee point of note, Sima can play right wing. I don't think we've known that before. It means he can be moved there and Silva, Matondo and Cortes can play other side. If that's how we get to line up for the run in then I think we have a lot to be excited about.

Doogz

Agree with Andy regarding Matondo, we need to try and utilise him far better rather than a sub for last 30 mins, his pace terrifies players, and that’s two class goals in recent weeks, maybe a lot of supporters will start to cut the guy some slack and he can prove to be a great asset for Rangers.

Andrew Finlayson

We’ve won 1 of the last 10 against them and in 9 of those games we’ve conceded the opener, the one time we never was the 3-0 dead rubber victory. When that fixture at Parkhead comes around we have to score 1st, we cannot continuously keep digging ourselves a hole.

Steven63

Excellent as always from The Sage of Saltcoats...... balanced and rational analysis from him amidst the madness.

Scott Watson

Is his pace possibly more effective when he's coming on fresh and defenders have already been playing an hour?

Alan Riddell

Couid butland have done better with the 1st and 3rd goals ??

Andrew Finlayson

3rd I think even though it is hit really well through legs but the 1st I think it’s just a genuine freak goal, there’s no way he’s expecting that

Martin Sutherland

On Sky, they didn’t have to compete with an English game. If they have had any brains they would do that all the time

Craig

This is what I'm hoping to see, he's already scored great goals against Hibs and Hearts when he found himself on the right side of the field. Could finally be a solution to the right sided problem just in time for the run-in.

Andy Fullen

The wind absolutely had a major effect on the game. The disappointment for me was the fact that we simply didn’t cope with it at all in the 1st half. Andy talks about the game plan being out the window after 25 secs which is correct but warming up surely you’ve got to gauge the conditions and plan accordingly.
