Simon is joined by Grant and Andy B to discuss what could well be a significant moment in the title race as Rangers contrive to lose 3-2 away at Ross County.

The guys also discuss the possible long term ramifications and fallout of the shocking result, and ask is there any way the team can turn this around?

Yesterday proved that if the same perennial failures are not shipped out for next season, and possibly what's left of this one, then we know the outcome. Time for some major surgery on this squad. What surprised me more than anything, was the general apathy yesterday. No one seemed to give a s**t. No inspiration from the dug out and as usual no inspiration from captain, vice captain or a n other as they were the main perpretators. A type display that I thought we'd flushed out of the club under this management but it has been creeping in since Motherwell Just disgusted with all yesterday, including the managers choice of starting eleven.

John Smith

Great to hear you Andy. Keep safe brother 🇮🇱

james whyte

Same shit. Scunnered lads.

chris smith

If there is one genuine piece of pristine corn in the pukepile it is that Lundstram wont get a new contract and that Goldson wont be at the club next season. Hopefully the manager draws the right conclusions. Tav and Butland will be sold to fund the rebuild. Hopefully we buy players who are mobile, hungry and are willing to take a booking. The last two games we have shipped six goals while getting one booking (Sima’s handball goal) while making 13 fouls - we are a no fight team of utter charlatans.

Martin Boyd

Bottle merchants, six goals n two games everyone of them an embarrassment. A lot of these goals caused by midfielders not covering back. Manager has a huge job in the summer , Centre backs x 2, two midfielders plus a striker , Christ I hope Koppen has a thick book of hopefuls. If Tav would command some Saudi money then he could go as well. Andy give it a rest re Shankland , we couldn’t afford him we had no money to spend in January. We would win the league if we signed Haaland in January but guess what we couldn’t afford him either.

Scott

I think one of two things happen, we either capitulate and they win it by 6 or 7 or we win all remaining games to take the title. Hopefully that boot in the balls yesterday somehow resets us and we go for it

fraser waugh

Seen this movie before, players bottled it, major investment needed but we've not got the money.

Ryan Macdonald

Don’t know if it’s my device but Andy’s volume was pretty low. Woke up even angrier this morning, threw it away again lads.

I’m as disappointed as everyone else. However we are still in a position that 6 out of the last 7 season we would dreamed of. We’ve said time after time it would be great for a season to still be live going into the split, provided we win Wednesday it’s 1 point. A team on the park reflects its fanbase, we tend to give up as quickly as they do. I still believe a draw at Parkhead will be enough as Celtic are never winning all 5 remaining games. However if we turn the end of this season as a sit on the hands affair and wait for us to be top again, it’s not going to turn around. Everything from everyone….until there is a bump? We used to fight unit the day was done. But it’s the same voices conceding (like they did after we lost to Motherwell). Things change fast. Yesterday also the first game (excluding game at Parkhead in December) where this side has lost ground in this title race. We drew to Aberdeen after they drew to Motherwell. We lost to Motherwell. They lost to hearts. Yesterday was a total scunner but a win Wednesday and into the cup final will kick us back on. Keep believing.

Dale Renton

Well done on the pod, gents. Hard to talk and swallow such a bitter pill at the same time. I really hope the confidence you seem to feel about Goldson and Lundstram being dropped is well founded. Will believe it when I see it. They should be.

George Higgins

Don’t think we had the money to sign Shankland . Our only signing was Diomande and his fee was deferred to the Summer. Hearts would not have accepted a deal on that basis.

CRAIG CASSELLS

Clement has confirmed we had little funds to spend in January and why our 3 signings were loans with Diomande being the only one we MUST by in the summer.

Latimer

Manager is going to lose the fans and ultimately his job if he doesn't take the big decisions now. Goldson and Lundstram shouldn't feature midweek. Diomande (sore thumb give me a fkn break) and Sterling in midfield, Balogun in at the back.

JM

Giving up on the next 3-4 seasons is absolute cuckery - absolute nonsense chat.

Gordon Watson

Our problems started with Dessers failing to score twice and set up victory. Midfield failed to win any second balls and we failed to contest any attacking corner with the exception of our bloody goalkeeper. If we take care of these first two problems then our defence has the pressure lifted off them but as we saw it was amplified and we pooed the bed prolifically. Goldson is ragged and I would’ve considered resting him and playing Balogun on Sunday. I don’t know if Clement has failed here because Balogun is more than capable of rotating in and giving us quality but the reason given agaibst this by the manager was we had rotated too many players elsewhere to take the risk. The risk? Balogun is better and more experienced than to be considered that big of a risk. Goldson’s lost a yard of pace and is probably been used too much. Lundstram was poor as well but there are mitigating factors - he’s been the only fit and in form midfielder we’ve had and he’s carried the likes of Dowell, Jack and Raskin (and Diomonde as a new player recently) all season. We’ve burned him out out of necessity. Tavernier stays where he is until the very last kick of the season because of his goals and assists. But his passing, often under no pressure, was atrocious on Sunday. I’m incredibly angry about that performance and it’ll take some getting over. The lack of contest in the middle of the park was unacceptable. Dowell couldn’t even track for their goal in the Old Firm game as a sub and on Sunday he was even worse because he’s clearly not fit enough. Not sure where to next.

Stace1ofthePeople

Agree with the players needed. However back up Rb. Can't rely on riddance be fully fit for a full season. And borna likely to go so back up LB required? I like sterling and diamande but agree we need extra in CM. Raskin lunnie and Jack can go. RW still an issue can't rely on mccausland. CF gives me the absolute fear 🤣🤣 basically need a full squad. Its frightening

Gordon Smith

Needed a striker in January. We all knew it. I realise that wouldn’t have stopped the defence falling apart, or reminded John Lindstram that he was supposed to be playing football, but we might have scraped by in these type of games. Sadly we may not be handed as s golden an opportunity next season.

Paul Williamson

The “Rangers Culture of Losing” is epitomised by the members of the senior squad leaders, Tav, Goldson, Jack, Lundstrum, Barisic. No case can be argued for them collectively!!

jamey Carruthers

Robbie Fraser or Yfeko honest to god I get we’re hopeless but stop talking absolute mince.

James Muir

STERLING NEEDS TO PLAY IN ONE POSITION KEEP GETTING MOVED MUST BE ANNOYING CAN WE NOT PLAY BALOGUN OR DAVIES AT LEFT BACK INSTEAD OF BARISIC IF RIDVAN IS INJURED

Andy Barnett

Not quite what was said. We were alluding to the realism of not winning the league and the financial disparity which will be bigger than at any time since 2016.

Andy Barnett

Totally agree Chris. We saw the other mob take 3 bookings in the first half at ibrox to disrupt any flow we had. Need dark arts badly

chris smith

Yes, obviously but there is a lot of talk and hopefully there is no smoke without fire

Bixby Snyder

How we can’t sell Britain’s Highest Scoring Defender (TM) for several million to a regular club says it all. Clubs should be clamoring to sign him but they’re not, that speaks volumes.

CJT

Thanks gents, not an easy listen. Problem is I could pick up a pod from any of the last 4 managers tenures and hear a ‘that has to be the end for this ‘core group’ ‘ conversation. Despite plenty exhortations not to forget, we do. Without action this time we’ll be hearing it again next year. They’ve picked up good results, good runs, the odd trophy but that’s not what we’re about IMO. Win and win again, that’s all that matters. Just not in some of those guys DNA. Even if we get over the line this year we need to remember that. They should get a hearty handshake and shown the door should they get us there this year. If they don’t the handshake should be replaced by a boot up the arse on the way out.

JM

Ugh - being defeatist for this season is one thing - giving up on Koppen and big Phil having a decent summer is pathetic…

Martin Boyd

Sorry Andy but I’m a bit confused as our opinions are not different but it was pretty obvious we had no money to spend in January . Unless your opinion is we did have money to spend but decided not to. In which case your entitled to it.

Bob MacCallum

Till the end of the season, Phil should play 3-5-2 system, to stabilise the defence plus add more of an attacking threat. This team: Butland; Souttar, Goldson, Balogun; Sterling, Lundstram, Cantwell Diomande, Yilmaz; Sima, Silva. Only got Goldson and Lundstram in there because nobody else. Note, TWO central strikers. Wingbacks supply with Cantwell and Diomande.

C. J

Ridvan got injured and our season has fallen apart.

Andy Barnett

I get what you’re saying. If not Shankland, someone else. Diomande looks good, but was it a signing we really needed to make? The striker was the absolute nailed on priority and we didn’t get one. I don’t believe a price can be put on a prolific striker in the Scottish league - one we haven’t had since 2010.

Jim Milne

Good to hear Andy on the pod. Stay safe mate.

chris smith

I say it again… two games, 6 goals conceded, 13 fouls committed, 1 yellow card (not for a tackle) … almost all the goals conceded were breaks unchallenged from midfield on our defence. We dont tackle, we dont block, we literally dont do anything to hamper the opposition. It is absolutely criminal.

John Jamieson

Can’t keep calling it a restart when the leadership group in the squad hasn’t really changed very frustrated with the management of this squad keeping players way past there best. We need to start moving players on before they fall off the cliff

DRKMN

Well that was depressing. A title race with 1 point in it and 5 games to go including an old firm. This is not over chaps! Celtic are just as inconsistent as we are. We shouldn't fear going to Parkhead ever, and especially not this season. This is salvageable. I'm deleting this is we fuck it on Wednesday though 😊

Ross Fisher

Lawrence should be nowhere near the starting line up

Angus Mackay

If the league is lost this season the season DVD should be titled Throw Hard With a Vengeance. Shameful stuff. Good discussion, lads.
