James duncan

Doncaster only put VAR out to the clubs because like his pay masters he didn't think the clubs would vote for it

Andrew Hind

A certain club has probably told Doncaster to put that out there to see the response, but looks like it could be gone next season

William Ross

Re clancy - did anyone else see mcgregor of celtic this weekend against hearts - change direction, take 5 steps then stamp on hearts player who was on the ground? Clancy was looking straight at it and seemingly didn't see it.

Rona Bluebell

I think VAR has helped us more than hindered . Just my view. Yes, it slows down celebrations but think of the goals we would’ve been denied without it.

Billy Boyce

So who was the player who pulled out of 6 OF games?

Ross Whitehead

VAR does take the euphoria out of goals to a certain extent, but overall I think it is a positive. The problem with VAR in Scotland is that we have to cheapest version of it. We need the best version, but how do we afford that given there isn't too much spare cash sloshing about Scottish football? VAR sponsored by someone?

Craig

If Doncaster is floating the idea of binning VAR then we know who it will be on behalf of.

Graham johnston

It was 100% nailed on that Collum was going to be ref when they give us Beaton. It's a message to both clubs after recent criticism. Tbh I don't think any of the refs r cheats. They're just rubbish

Alastair McGeoch

The head of a top flight league says he was never for VAR! Just highlights (yet again) that Doncaster is totally unfit for the role. VAR is not the problem, the poor standards of officiating in Scotland is the problem and is damaging the league. He should be working with the SFA to look at what can be done to improve the standard of officiating.

Craig

Goldson was in the stand wearing a leg brace on Sunday, huge commitment to the lie if he's at it.

Craig

There were rumours around Jon Toral shiteing it from an OF at the time he was here, but he wasn't here for 6 of them.

Graham Roy

I personally think it should change to a challenge type VAR. each team gets 2 per game and if upheld they keep the 2 and they lose it if they wrongly challenge it. Wouldn’t stop errors but might speed up game!

Brian

My lad loves staying to see the players afterwards as you said he gets a massive buzz from it. Most of the players will spend 20-30 mins signing for fans even when they have there own kids and wives wanting to get away. Iv seen adults not even thank the players also. One time butland was walking up with both his kids one in each arm my boy asked him politely if he could get a picture I had said he might not because he had his kids but he was great said it was no problem at all posed for a photo and spoke to him for a moment my kids where buzzing and really appreciated him stopping to do it.

Jordan McKay

I don’t think they’re cheats but I do believe certain referees are afraid to give decisions for or against specific clubs.

Colin Campbell

Think it was Alves. 6 might have been an exaggeration on Halliday’s part. But he limped off after 20 mins and don’t think he played in many others?

David Innes

I don’t think they’re cheats but they are clearly shit scared of giving decisions against Celtic - the 2 non second yellow cards in the last game at Parkhead defied belief

Dave Fleming

Re the tickets for former refs. It’s not just any refs, it’s Ref Observers and Assessors, which are unpaid positions who attend matches every week at all levels. They always had a lunch plus comp at the Cup Finsl as a ‘reward’ each year. This goes back 50 years plus. I suspect its because they want to use that hospitality space for others

Ben

We should be resisting any calls to remove VAR from Scotland, even if it does lessen the match day experience. There’s a reason THEY don’t want it, we’d be foolish to go along with them. We should however be calling for improvements and goal line technology

David Innes

I haven’t met a fan of a provincial club that doesn’t want VAR binned so he has a ready made excuse

Doogz

These imbeciles abusing players should be named and shamed, players should give adults a wide berth regarding signing strips, this is something as David says is for the young Rangers supporters and not clowns who want to get an earner. Rangers need step up the security bigtime here and make it clear before players come out that they will not be signing anything for anyone over 14.

Jock Paterson

There is a beggar from Stirling who deals in memorabilia who regularly attends Auchinhowie and Ibrox to pester players to sign shirts. Rangers know about it and do nothing.

Gregg

This - maybe start by asking uefa why our refs aren’t selected and work to improve the areas they are deficient in.

Colin Mathie

I agree var needs scrapped, but there is absolutely no chance uefa/fifa will allow it to be binned.

David_Davy_Dave

The solution to the shock horror reaction to old firm refereeing appointments is to announce the officials for all 4 games at the start of the season (subject to injuries) I appreciate that the SFA want to take account of referee form but if you back that guy to be top flight for the whole season it should be possible

David Innes

The OF game Toral was in line to play in was the deadest of dead rubbers. If it’s true it would help to explain why his career has amounted to nothing

Colin Mathie

Andy Webster was famous for not playing games even though he was fit.

David Campbell

Yup signing shirts afterwards is for kids. A couple of months ago Jack and cantwell signed my boys shirt it made his day. These players are heroes to these kids we need to remember that.

JimGLW

Sadly bang on the money in relation our overall quality in the squad. :( I don't think our front 3 even gets on the celtic bench and out midfield over the peace is second best to theirs. Clement has done pretty well but this is a limited squad.

Derek Stevenson

Cannot scrap VAR. Gives us even bigger issues with the officials. And in this league it’s an open invite to the hammer throwers, double hammers at the ready with no VAR. Some very good points and abusing players or even invading their space in public is not on. Maybe Borna could learn to fight Celtic wide men though!!!

Alan

We can not let them remove VAR, as much as i don’t like it, we would be in amu h worse position without it. We just need it to be better

Andrew Mundt

Wanting rid of VAR is the perfect centre of the MENTAL/STUPID/NAIVE Venn diagram.

Derek Robertson

Abusing players out on the street is a disgrace. These adults should be banned from Ibrox

Mr J K Murray

being of the school that there is no such thing as free will,do not want to be disingenuous to Scottish refs, but having bijwijf (concubine-to lie down) gollum back for the old firm, it just smells, Var introduced in the UK for the 2018-19,feel at the moment it is needed in Scottish fooball for all is yeahs & nays, the have nots have it sometimes, being dominant & it not to much of an issue, hic, is this Doncaster a tender eye, just a beguiler, modern media appliaces should stop people being physically [both sides] aroused unless they are off der cake on substances or find something aestheically inhancing about it, lol,

Derek Robertson

If any supporter has given up then they don't deserve to celebrate when we beat Celtic on Saturday. All you ever hear is the player have no bottle, they are shite again , etc. It seems too many of our fans don't have the stomach for the fight and throw thier toys out of the pram if things don't go there way.

Ryan Baistow

Who was the player halliday said pulled out of 6 old firms?

Craig

How anyone can remember the offside goal against them at Hampden and still want VAR to be scrapped is beyond me??? It’s funny how the team with the most experience of using it has been shafted by it the most as well! Surely a chief executive looking for new sponsors shouldn’t be floating these ideas before a deal is made too…

stefan strzelecki

I recognise every supporter has the right to feel frustrated at the situation we now find ourselves in. That doesn’t grant any person from being abusive to our players or management team. The weekly vilification of players is counterproductive to winning trophies. I still have optimism for the match and title going in our favour . Supporters play a pivotal role at this stage of the season too. The club and players require positivity to see them over the line . They aren’t flawless , nobody is. I note the contempt for Rangers as a club , is now the public relations mantra being trodded out by both the male and female bosses of Celtic . Don’t ask me to pick which one is the more crass. They both exude the similar lack of class synonymous with that club. How nice would it be , if both Jo and Phil delivered trebles ?

Graham Jones

Spot on with the stuff about autograph hunters. It’s for the kids, and grown men getting upset they miss out on a scribble on a piece of paper is just infantile. You made a lot of sense to the state of play regarding the players. I don’t think we’ll get the wholesale changes some people crave, but I also think they’re craving those changes because of a dip in form. That can happen, but we need to look positively as well, and see three wins on the trot. Not convincing performances, but it’s winning that matters right now. I do think the manager was surprised by the way the players reacted a few weeks back, and maybe caught him out. Many of them shat the bed when they woke up and realised they were in the title race, and that is also something people have been unimpressed with. Maybe it’s a sign of the modern footballer, where some see it as a job where they pick up good wages and don’t look at medals as important, which we find weird as supporters. Our referees are just not very good, and that’s the long and the short of it.

Gemma Gaw

I agree on the signing of stuff after games being for the kids. Took our wee one earlier in the season and had adults trying to barge in. The club need to realise this too tho as the 4.5foot barriers is a stopping kids without an adult being able to lift them up.

Craig

All Alves cared about that season was getting/staying fit for the World Cup. He didn't shite it from the OF, but the slightest knock and he was up the tunnel.

Wilson Elder

Great Pod as always, as a supporter from afar I can't stop feeling we're being short changed year after year ,if only the players had the same belief as the fans. Roll on next season hopefully sign players who want to play and fight for the team and fans to win games.

Douglas Innes

Who's to say it was even s Rangers fan(s) hassling players , we're at the stage of the season where replica shirts are dirt cheap and a signed strip multiplies it's value almost 10 fold , it wouldn't be the first time that " wide-o's or street sellers " saw a gap in the market and exploited it ..... and they'd be more prone to abuse when forgotten or walked past as their morals are usually of a negligent standard anywayv.... but that's the cynic in me as it certainly wasn't happening Sept/Oct/Nov ( abuse of players )

Gordon McCool

I’m a there any chance we could stop put them in our thumbnail?

Gary Brown

After 6 years almost constant availability no one who actually supports Rangers can seriously think Goldson is shirking it?!?!? 100% true he's had a loss of form, speed and maybe even a crisis of confidence this season but I'd never doubt his commitment.

Gary Brown

Thanks for the update David. I'm a guy who veers to 3/4s full on the glass half full / empty scale. But Gollum reffing has put even my gas at a peep. We like to think that corruption isn't in our game and as far as cash-money bribery is concerned we're almost certainly right. However! The pressure intentionally, deliberately put on officials from certain elements in, and around, Scottish football DOES corrupt the game. The officials ARE being made to act, or omit to act, dishonesty for 'reward' or 'personal gain', ie the gain NOT being pilloried, slandered or verbally / physically abused. Nothing wrong with VAR, what's wrong is the incorrect interpretation of rules & laws of the game, compounded by piss poor officials and human errors in judgement (or fear!). And in our league tech bought off Temu! Giving our players abuse inside the ground isn't on either. Same rules as outside apply inside. Everyone needs to think to themselves "Would I like the same done to me in my work?" No you would not! Been at countless other clubs in the home end, all over the UK. Yes there was abuse being hurled in every single one. But to away fans & players. Not their own. That is 'part of the game', sledging, intimidating, 'sportsmanship'. It's fans trying to out do each other, being funny, even ironic about their own club. Criticising and abusing your own is just criticism and abuse. It's certainly not support! In no way does it raise confidence or encourage better performance. Paying for your ST gives you no more right to be abusive than buying a cinema ticket, bus ticket, being a shop customer, etc. 'Paid for' only gives consumer rights. Every other club's managers & players look to 'get the Ibrox crowd on their backs'. It works, otherwise they'd not continually do it. That's our reputation! It hinders us terribly.

Gordon McCool

I was only joking but granted my message does read like a message written in a rage. Don’t text and drive kids.

Greg Cameron

These clowns outside with Borna and Butland need banned. Absolute mutants!
