Some damming statistics there.

Brian Auld

David that 40% stat is unreal. You bring players in to improve the team and they need to play regularly or it’s pointless. We do have enough quality IMO but clearly it’s never consistently available enough to make a difference and build momentum. Cortes, Sima, Danilo would make a big difference alone. We’ve improved a lot but that needs to change.

Alan Weir

Totally agree regarding the youngsters. Year after year we see nothing of them until the final three or four dead rubbers which is pretty much a waste of time regarding assessing them or benefiting their future progress. If they’re simply not good enough, then we have to ask why they’re still at the club.

The Gallant Pioneer

Can the club also raise the bar for Hall Of Fame qualifications

David Herd

Can I be first to say that's a bloody great song choice.

Russ

It's almost like signing crocks whilst having a medical department run by Ronald McDonald and a pre season that's lacking creates a shitstorm of unavailability. There's also a hint of not wanting to play unless at 100% though imo, and that's not on.

Craig

In addition to the new squad he needs to employ, Koppen will have to stand up to Bisgrove to make sure we have a proper pre-season programme instead of four glamour games he can charge the support a fortune to see.

Brian Auld

One thought on the board - us having the biggest wage bill suggests they are backing whoever is in the door responsible for the product on the pitch. We are miles further forward - 2 cup finals and should have won the league plus last 16 in Europe. No team can tolerate 40% player availability but that isn’t the fault of the board it’s other failures. That lot got away with it this year but could have won nowt if we’d kept a squad fit.

John Jamieson

Honestly embarrassing the state of the mens first team. Medical team that seems to do F all in getting players fit after injury. Players that are on contracts they don’t deserve and “squad players that shouldn’t be getting ahead of out youth players” clement needs back from the board but has as important the support need to be patient the issues he has to try and fix isn’t something that get fixed in one summer.

Tom

David are you going to set up a petition for there to be an awareness week for all of the David's?

Colin McL.

It’s May, ST renewal time and we have the 4th manager in 3 seasons. In this time, we’ve won two domestic cups. The Clement appointment needs to work.

Tom

He did get in there first before it became fashionable I suppose.

Scott Duncan

Blaming Beale and last summer's pre-season is all very well but Cortes joined in January and the same fate befell him with a long-term injury. Something else isn't right.

Heart and Hand

Players can pick up in-game injuries. That’ll always happen. It’s the constant niggles that shouldn’t be happening.

Brian Rae

As they wrapped up another league title, we have players on their "socials" posting up videos of them scoring their first goals in the league for 2 years in a meaningless match. Scott Wright is a clown and it's not just players that need replaced, it's the weak mindset as well.

Kris

Had no idea there was a Bruce day. It's such a cool and under used name, there's Bruces Campbell, Springsteen, Dickinson, Willis, the shark from Jaws, Robert The, just how uncool was Bruce Forsyth that he has damaged the name so badly?

AGS

Tav and Goldson please sell: if not can those 2 losers be put out on loan?

Andy Gray

Like yourself David I always try to have a glass half full outlook on things but last few months have really tested that. Yes we all want to win the title but I’m not sure next season is realistic based on yet another high turnaround in the squad and the financial disparity between us and that lot. Would rather an actual transition season where we can see some actual improvements which will lead to hopefully longer term success. Unfortunately I don’t think this situation is a quick fix but would loved to be proved wrong this time next year. Onwards!

I agree on the need to blood more youngsters, Davie, but for that to be viable for managers we need to start showing a bit more patience as a support. Right now you can’t really blame a manager for not doing it when the weekly pressure is so intense. It’s a massive gamble for them.

Graham Jones

The issues with fitness are really strange, because we had the fittest players in the league under Gerrard. I don’t think we ever replaced Gerard’s people when he leaved. GvB didn’t bring in good people either, and it took for Clement to come in and ask queastions before someone gave a shit. That should’ve been the boards job, because they have eyes in their heads as well. We have the right manager, of that I’m in no doubt, because this current lot had no right to expect to be in a title race. Too many of them are not winners, and others have been here too long. That doesn’t mean a huge turnaround in personnel, but a staged one, where we will do buisiness over a two year period to change the squad. The manager is more interested in the Academy, and its a good job because it could save us a lot of money in the long run, and make us some if we do it properly. It’s nothing new to anyone who has watched. Rangers the past 35 years. The problem is we simply can’t afford to squander money and mismanage players now. We have to operate in a lean and hungry way. All the great clubs of Europe are clinical with their playing staff, and don’t let dead wood lei around the club. They either contribute or they are systematically moved on for profit.

neil couper

All great points but sadly all very true ie calling to remove the board without any money will never happen, for me youth and patience but with the fan base we have that beyond tough ppl are calling out wee Ross mc cause he’s not messi or ronaldo but he’s no worse than rabbi etc

Calum Downham

The board are to blame for everything that was mentioned today in the update Remember when fans were campaigning to remove Bisgrove from the board, but were appeased by the removal of the other deadwood ie Wilson etc Rangers’ winning mantra has been screwed, next season we could be equal in trophies won compared with our rivals after 100 years dominance The board have shown no ability to be able to turn us into a successful, trophy winning team consistently

James Anderson

This season we couldnt bring the young guns on for the last 20 minute because we have very seldom been in a game over winnng situation.

Bruce Day is a National Holiday across Australia* *made up fact

Re Investment, the route to brining dispassionate £ in is if there is a significant path to growth That has got to equate to getting into another league For me if you want to think REALLY big picture we need to be working on getting into some sort of cross border domestic league set up. I get we can’t do that alone. We might not form a league with Portuguese and Dutch clubs but they are in the same situation and we need to spend time with them to lobby UEFA and get some sort of path to getting out of Scotland I get that all sounds quite ambitious but we are the club that created the champions league! We need to be proactive

Colin Mathie

The women need to win the league next season to, or else Potter can go imo.

G Calder

Well done to Dessers with his availability & goals .. Unless we get a good offer for him he will be a great squad player for next season .

Bixby Snyder

Great question on signing people who "get it" and that most really don't. I know that to truly understand something, you have to experience it, but maybe we can start signing people from Slavia Prague or clubs that are "The Rangers of...[insert country]" so that they have something to compare the pressure of this club to. Otherwise, how do scouts measure "grit" if they only have a few days to talk to them within a signing window?

Steven L

My frustration comes from people saying we’ve accepted mediocrity that is plainly false. Just because I don’t want to march up to the main doors doesn’t mean I’m not happy. I absolutely hate seeing them win. We can’t make the board spend money and we can’t help it if the squad chuck it.

Tommy

Good listen David. I’m delighted to hear Clement talk about the buy/sell model I recall last summer Beale came out with a “no player is for sale” type statement which clearly showed the model still wasn’t in play or that we would be sleepwalking back to the financial abyss Every player must have a price. In the FFP era this applies to every club, even the elite, so as a support we need to realise the glory days of the 90’s are gone. We need to operate in two levels: 1 - Improve significantly on the pitch and compete with Celtic next year 2 - Focus on acquiring the best 16-18 years olds to ensure we have a pipeline of talent that can ensure we are competitive in a couple of years or as a source of revenue to support player trading model. Celtic are unlocking significant riches and at some point they’ll turn the screw and be harder to compete with. We can’t throw everything at 24/25 and then be screwed for a few years as they march on for another 9IAR. We need an eye on now but invest in the best young talent now so that we have quality coming through. I don’t think there’s a club in world football with such a reticence to play kids, hopefully we can address this, sort out our approach to the reserve/B team, improve our ability to use the loan market and have a pipeline ready. I don’t ask for much. It’s all basic stuff. But we don’t do it.

Manager needs to come up with something different in the final. If he’s goes with Lawrence and Lundstrum he’s doing himself in.

Gary Brown

Agree 100% Everyone needs a wee bit of time to settle and establish themselves at a new place of work. eg - Would you abuse a young adult new start coming into your work? Or an experienced one joining from a different company? Your colleagues! With the same objectives, same targets to meet as you do. I'd very much doubt you would. And you'd likey be very disappointed in any of your colleagues who did. And, more importantly, imagine it was you starting or moving to a new job would you be happy copping abuse from colleagues and having unrealistic expectations placed on you? Would, could you perform at your best in those circumstances? If you NEED to shout abuse at the game, direct it at the opposition players, put them off. It's actually exciting to see new players coming into the team and young talents coming into the game, they could be brilliant for us. They are not 'fresh meat' to pick on. No one young or old is joining Rangers to fail. No manager picks a player to fail. We all have good & bad days at work.

Gary Brown

Thanks for the update David. There's no doubt we need to get the Player Trading model running ASAP. Gaffer & Koppen have already started with Dio & Cortes get in for under £5mil, develop & put in shop window for a few years, hope to sell on for as much as possible, x2 or x3 the value. We say it's never worked. Bassey, Aribo, Patterson, even Kamara show we can do it. All of those lads would be warmly welcomed back by supporters. They performed well, they committed to the cause, they were Rangers. It's not about players being mercenary or using us as a stepping stone. It's part of football now, the biggest part for any club not in the mega / state owned bracket.
