Greg

What's shanklands age?

Greg

Alex is not spot on, getting rid of some players isn't going to suddenly turn things around, this time last year we heard over and over again that once we got rid of Kent and Morelos everything would be different.

Gregg

Couldn’t agree more with Alex 😂 - for me the working class, work ethic/ connection thing doesn’t really fit with my thinking, perhaps 30 year ago.

Mren90

Great show. Really enjoyed the debate about Scottish talent. Found myself agreeing with a lot of good points from both sides.

Bob MacCallum

Alex, well done for speaking out. I respect your views BUT I disagree that it is determined by Celtic's superior resources. WE can always have a chance to win the league IF we beat the other 10 teams. No team in any league wins all its games. It's up to us to take care of the other teams, as well as, if not better than how Celtic deals with them. 2 wins at Ibrox v them and we win the league. Celtic can't buy really good players because if they're that good, they go to England etc. So, if we bring in decent players, with Phil's coaching, we CAN better Celtic.

John Palmer

Clement should play the B Team tomorrow and make the First Team watch the Unwashed lift yet another Trophy gifted to them by Rangers. Let them see what a winning team looks like but also feel the pain of it. This is how pissed I'm at our players who are just serial losers.

John Palmer

I think he's 28 but I'd rather go for Miovski who's 24 and would fetch money for future sale.

Jeffff96

Moaning about our midfield lacking physicality and mobility and want to sign 5ft 8 Watson and 5ft 9 Barron a pair of Jason Holts

JimGLW

Good listen guys! I have to say I don't get the attitude of not wanting to spend cash on homegrown players who have done it in our own league when we have spent millions and millions on the likes of Davies, Matondo, Lammers, Cifuentes, Dessers etc etc Just because a player is from overseas doesn't make them better as we have plenty of evidence of.

JimGLW

We've went 2 goals down far too many times. Hardly fair to laugh it off or make excuses for it from the Dundee game. As for Rangers fans only caring about winning - damn right! And there's not a Rangers fan I know who think they should feel guilty about that. It's what the club has been built on.

Gregg

Lots of smaller players could be described as physical - Stuart McCall??

Spoon

Enjoyed the debate. Agree 100% with Stevie and said similar for sometime. The talk you hear about guys in the league being ok for squad but not good enough to start is utter hubris. We hear that guys will be ok for domestic competition but won’t take us to the next level in Europe, that’s not even a thing we have punched well above our weight in Europe but failed miserably in the SPFL.squad building for Europe is a nonsense. Stevie nails it. Can’t disagree more with Alex on the connection, you can relate far easier to local talent and people of common background than 19 year old from Belgium or such. A load of these players are indeed the problem and stating it’s not the reason when they are the common denominator and well documented leaders is for me utter nonsense. Alex stating his opinion as fact as if it’s undisputed doesn’t resonate with me. Yes there’s a challenge but doing the same thing with the same core in leagues that are routinely won by single figures and saying it’s unwinnable is bizarre. It’s a poor man’s excuse that stifles any debate. If you are diagnosing a problem you look for cause not symptoms. Scottish identity for me is hard work, graft, endeavour and heart and we see plenty of that from provincial club players who shine week in week out, Shankland for example. Some limitations but an absolute goal machine in a team that has only him really. Yet our fans are desperate to focus on what he can’t do or what others can do better, of course there are guys who are better but they cost 3 or 4 times as much and we aren’t in that market. The fee for him is a steal. Where I do agree with Alex is that our expectation of our place in the player food chain is skewed. But you make up shortfalls be having good structures and better coaching not just spending money. When we have scouting, medical, transfer policy and structures to support a decent coach that we stick with it’s not by any means beyond us.

CGG

Same format next week, the less we talk about them the better

William Alston

Alex we are better than Motherwell, Ross county and Dundee, I blame the players for those games and I also blame them for not turning up in every old firm game until it was too late

Spoon

Btw preach on Stevie, this pod you have been my spirit animal 👌🏼

Colin Carstairs

Fantastic pod again & the part of the pod about 50-57 mins in from Alex is absolutely spot on could not have described what has happened to us & the players any better. Fans can be a good force or a very very negative force & for me right now it’s negative force & until the whole playing department starts winning more trophies than recently it will continue to be a negative force. We all have a part to play in returning us to the top, hopefully it starts next week & going forward into next season. 🙏

Billy Forrester

No way we can afford miovski, he be over 7 million so ain’t happening. Celtic will buy him I imagine

Iain Dunleavy

100 percent agree with the Scottish identity. Never been a successful Rangers team without it. Even under Advocat when we where signing the best players in Europe our captain was a Scottish Rangers fan and had players like Billy Dodds.

Steven L

Bang on alex. I’ll say it again 2012 fucked us more than people realise. People need to get their heads out the 1990s ass.

Rick Swan

A very good analysis of where we are by Alex who highlighted a number of hard realities that many of our fans fail to take on board. It may indeed take some considerable time for us to get back on top .

Simon H&H

Good pod. We absolutely should have a Scottish core, as long as they are good enough. And I accept, there isn’t many going around currently who we could afford

Russ

In regards to signing the best young Scottish talent, I've thought for awhile that the Hastie deal a few years ago caused some serious psychological damage to some of the higher ups at Rangers and that's borne out over the last few windows and the lack of appetite to sign talent within Scotland. Obviously you've got to try and sign the right player AND person, but even then if they need developing as a pro then put in the effort with them..instead of punting them all over the UK. As if I'm going into bat for Jake Hastie haha, I just want the board to be brave and stick with a process instead of dropping a policy because it's not immediately beneficial (trading model). Cheers lads, great pod!

Ranger1972

Nils Koppen down watching Kenny McLean last night. Rangers going in big to get him.

Craig Fryatt

Great show lads Harrington absolutely nailed the issues we face, in terms of identity, transfers and leadership

Ranger1972

Haha he was very bad David. Thoughts on McLean ? I think he’s the type of leader we need in the dressing room. Age a slight concern but we will need experience as well next year. I think a Scottish core will be beneficial also.

Craig Fryatt

He gets it. We as a support need to be mature enough to accept that we should be signing the best young Scottish player with a plan as to when they will be ready, it may not be that summer or the summer after but we should acquire them and have a plan. Most importantly Harrington has nailed why we can’t take any more of the these failed English championship players because the reason we attract them is why they will be failures in a player trading model.

David Innes

Steven says no one cares about the cups if we’re not winning the league. I agree in principle but cup finals where we’ve beat Celtic regularly feature in lists of the best Rangers games ever. Winning the cup next week would be absolutely massive for us and the manager. In my opinion the feel good factor would carry right through the summer

Gavin Foster

Bang on the cash!! Don’t know why anyone gives credence to the guys who want it and want it now. Unable to evaluate and acknowledge progress. We definitely need a Scottish core to help beat them but I want to continue our European presence. That gives me as big a kick as beating those who harbour the criminal element at the dark side of town. It’s the best feeling beating them and watching the shark throwing events. But come on, I bet big John would love to see European success again in his lifetime. THAT would be credibility!!

Graeme Duncan

Thanks guys, enjoyed the, at times robust, conversation 👍. Next weeks pod? I’d like a conversation about how you feel we beat them. What do we do differently to change the outcome. Thanks for all your work this season, the best show on our platform IMO. Cheers 🍻

Alan Ryder

Still the best show on the network. How about a live show for next weeks boys?

greg dunlop

Any time ridvan makes a mistake Kev always has to point out if it was Borna everyone would be on his back. Gets a little tiresome listening to kevs dislike of the wee man. We haven’t had to watch the same thing the last 6 years with ridvan, so yeah Borna would get it.

Scott Watson

Of course we might not have been watching Borna for 6 years if Ridvan had been regularly available during the last 2...

Douglas Innes

If we do sign Scottish players they have to play or else why bother signing them , i feel there are better prospects within the English academy system because their clubs don't play them as Bassey and now Sterling have proved there are plenty players who just want to play football ...... Alex is 100% correct they are better their players do things better whether thats standing in front of the ball chatting in the ref's ear continually or the fact the face up to the opposing team where we stand off ...... and yes if we're short on players start youth players as you don't know what you have till you use it
