And in the end, wasn't it all so predictable? Scotland tamely exit the tournament after another tepid display against Hungary. Germany show again why you can't ever write them off but the Swiss impressed too.

Join David and Dave as they look back on the action.

Time for Clarke to walk. Personally I’d be straight on the phone to David Moyes

Alan Weir

Just heard Clarke wittering on about “It was always a one-goal game” like it was something he couldn’t influence or alter. Maybe attack more? Maybe shoot at goal? Ridiculous tactics. As for Clarke’s puerile attack on the referee - let’s just leave it at parochial and classless (but it was worse than that.)

Alan Weir

Agreed. It was a chance to go toe-to-toe with a beatable opponent and winner takes all. We got stodge, caution and the first flight home.

Let’s hope the next manager can somehow unite everyone to fully get behind the National team! Watching his presser made me smile after the game, his bitterness oozing out for all to see, to feel this way is wrong but I’m only being honest.

Hungary were the better side, but I got the sense if Scotland had actually committed more men forward and 'went for it' like everyone demanded. The Hungarians would have picked them off. It's essentially what they did all through qualifying. They're excellent on the transition. The one caveat to that, was Hungarian confidence was low after the Swiss debacle, so if Scotland had actually had a pop the Hungarians might have panicked. Weirdly, Clarke gave them the type of game they wanted. I think Hungary were expecting Scotland to be a bit more aggressive and on the front foot. Hence the bizarre first half. Once they realised that was all Scotland had, or wanted to give. They waited for their moment and bloody hell, what a moment it was.

Gordon Smith

Not a Georgia fan. But Marching Through Georgia is one of my favourite tunes.

End of the day a last minute goal against Scotland is disappointing but it’s not the kick in the guts a last minute goal against Rangers is. Clarke is a clown, McGregor is a fraud. 13 major tournaments without reaching the second round is a national disgrace.

Alastair McGeoch

Clarke won’t be going anywhere unless he quits as the head of the SFA described him as the “perfect Scotland Manager” in interviews on Friday (similar to his recent “Hampden isn’t crap” comments). If you follow the lineage of Roxbrough and Brown then Clarke is the perfect Scotland manager… having watched the majority of the games so far we stand out as almost the only team who doesn’t want to impose their own game on the opposition and almost the only team who didn’t have a clue what to do once over the half way line. Ack well, we can console ourselves by telling all the other teams left in it “you’ll no enjoy it as much now coz oor fans aren’t there anymore”

Rona Bluebell

The Scotland team has been a mild distraction but that’s all. I’ve enjoyed the other games much more. I might feel differently if more of us were in the team, but we’re not.

David Innes

Qualifying for tournaments is a success as far as the SFA are concerned. He’ll be going nowhere unless he resigns (which he should imo)

UEFA didn’t credit mctominay with a goal

Lewis Wardrope

Should Clarke be given credit for getting us to two tournaments? Big Eck had down the heavy lifting already for the first qualification. And also, it’s easier to qualify than ever now with there being 24 teams and the nations league offering another way to qualify. Qualification is surely the bare minimum now. At the Euro’s itself, it’s now easier than ever to go to the knockouts cause 4 best 3rd place teams go through. We can’t even get ourselves into 3rd place to have a chance at that. We haven’t won once in the 6 euro games Clarke has been in charge for, and we’ve hardly registered a shot on target on those games. I don’t think the SFA have the baws to sack him. I’m hoping he walks, but I’m worried he’s maybe too big headed to do so

Colin Mackenzie

I’d happily take Moyes or Derek Mcinnes, I know it’s another killie manager but at least he can go after teams when he wants to.

Colin Mathie

Italy + France haven't been great to watch either btw.

Colin Mathie

The reason there is an Argentinian ref at these euros is because of an exchange agreement between uefa/comnebol.

Colin Mathie

Moyes's teams can be just as awful to watch, but given the choice i'd rather him than Clarke staying on.

Graham Roy

He has rode his luck in qualifying and you can see the difference playing teams well organised and tactically switched on! Every manager that fails at international level does the same thing and tries to play decent players in positions they don’t normally play!

Tom Smith

The penalty decision. It was offside, hence why the ref wasn't asked to review it. Remember how long the phase of play took from that incident onwards. So when the game did stop a minute or so afterwards, the penalty wasn't even a question, as they could see it was offside. I've paused the moment the pass was made and Armstrong was ahead of the defender. The tv should've showed us this, and end this discussion.

David Carslaw

I was screaming for it initially but after seeing it back it wasn't a penalty. Armstrong jumped across the defender when he should have stepped on and had a shot. I think he misjudged where the defender was and tried to buy a penalty rather than try a shot and probably get a penalty being taken out at that point.
