Just FYI David - the whole male/female "segregation" doesn't just happen in Russia... it happens in rural Ayrshire... honest to God, we had only just moved down here a couple of years at the time and we were invited to a Hogmany party up at a neighbouring farm, all well and good, we're thinking nibbles and drinks, sounds fun. The farmer's wife (old school) then proceeded to bring out a steak pie, casserole and a chicken pie thing. Ok, a little strange at 11.30pm, but fine... the "womenfolk" were invited up to help themselves to the goodies (all very chivalrous ) and escorted back to our seats in the lounge. The menfolk then all sat around the table and ate their meal at the table while the women had to sit in the lounge with our plates on our knees 🤣 I've encountered this sort of divide sooooo much in the farming community since moving to Ayrshire - when we were having an arena built for me to ride my horses in the contractor (also a farmer as well as a grounds worker) kept going to ask my husband questions about various things, my husband had to say to him several times "it's not my arena, go and speak to the missus", lol. Misogyny alive and kicking in the farmers of Ayrshire....
