McLean gives me strong Dorrans vibes. Hope I'm wrong.

Miguel Sanchez

McLean signing (especially for a fee) feels like an incredible mistake. Even a few years ago I wouldn't have been keen. Of course I could be wrong but he's always felt like a bang average midfielder who would probably command a decent wage even at 32 years old.

David Innes

We need experience and home grown players. McLean is more than good enough for the vast majority of our games. I think it would be a smart move but only at the right price

Martin Boyd

At first I was against it, but we could end up with a young inexperienced midfield. Let's face it teams in Scotland, even poorer ones, can be aggressive so I have come round more to needing an older head in there. If it's him then fair enough .

chris smith

McLean would be a truly idiotic signing … particularly as Norwich have just said he isnt going for cheap

Bob MacCallum

Would cost far too much, with 2 years left on his contract. Not the sort of signing our policy should be looking at.

Graham Roy

That black hole is the same issue as playing youngsters. If you look across Scottish teams very few of them play youngsters and instead play journeyman types! I do believe bringing back the old reserve league structure wouldn’t make things any worse and at least give young players the opportunity to play with and against older experienced players.

Brian Auld

We need guys who would run through walls for a chance to wear the shirt. Say what you want about Dessers but he gave everything he had each game and never hid once.

Colin Gardner

I would give a 100% and run through a brick wall for Rangers. The simple fact is he is not very good and we need better.

Craig

Fraser - 21 years old, only a couple of first team games and currently third choice in his position. Not sure I see the sense in this one.

James McSween

Was it not Jamie Fowler ex Killie that was being touted as new Academy Director?

C. J

Yeah. Hard to say whether he’d be a Dorrans or a Davis.

Rona Bluebell

Yes, me too. Can guarantee if I was playing for us you’d have H&H branded pitchforks for the protest 😬

Brian Auld

Aye but too many just weren’t putting in the effort required. He scored 20+ goals so he’s not that bad.

8luenose1872

Financial security for Lunny David? Maybe for a couple of weeks until he goes on a slump aye ha ha

Russ

Ngl, and I know there's a portion of our fanbase who would punt Dessers for a Toblerone, but getting rid of the one attacker we had last season who had an excellent fitness and scoring record (love him or loathe him, the boy scored regularly) whilst in the midst of a rebuild seems a bit silly. Especially with not knowing how Danilo will be after a long lay off, we need some reliability in attack next season and Dessers gives us that. Punt Lammers of course though. Punt both and we have 0 leeway or insurance if the new strikers are slow to get in amongst the goals or break down injured (see Sakala getting chased). If Cyriel does go he has my best wishes. Sorry for the long message haha.

Graeme McLeod

Another season of these meaninglessness friendlies is going to do more harm than good for our young players. I can understand the argument that the Lowland League doesn't prepare youngsters for first team football, but these friendlies achieve even less. At least in the Lowland League they were in competitive games in front of paying Rangers fans. We badly need an overhaul of the youth development. I don't think playing in the Lowland League is bad for the youngsters, but it should be a certain age group and the next step is the right loan move.

Graeme McLeod

He's a good young player, but he's one of a few who should have been loaned out over the last 18 months to develop him. Still think a loan for regular first team football this season makes more sense than him just sitting around unless he's the second choice left back, and if the latter is the case he'd still need playing time to develop.

Craig

Feels like he's missed the boat due to mismanagement. Maybe the plan is a year on loan then sell or extend again next summer. 2 league appearances by age 21 is a joke, should never be allowed to happen.

Baz

Doesn’t really go with our player model of signing young players and then commanding a decent fee, signing McLean makes no sense unless it was on a free transfer given the fact he’s now 32. Will be zero return financially on this one.

Baz

Dessers always gives 100% that’s a given but I’m sure we can replace him with the right recruitment and let’s be honest we generally create a lot of goalscoring opportunities, just need a good goal poacher who can also work the channels at times.

William Shand

Totally agree Graham. There’s too big a gap between the youth team and the first team. A reserve league would plug that gap.

Graham Roy

I don't see what's to be lost by re instating the reserve league even expand it to 16 if they wanted to ensure more top sides are included

Graham Roy

Sebo also gave everything but doesn't make him good enough to play for Rangers

Brian Auld

Did he score 20+ goals? No he didn’t. Many players had a tough first season then became proper stars after. Let’s not mention how McCoist was treated… Sometimes we are our own worst enemy but it’s your opinion. Comparing Dessers to Sebo is some take though.

JimGLW

Incredible news if we can get as much as our money back as possible for Dessers.

G Calder

Young players with so much promise - Then failing - Alex Lowrie , the perfect example ? Will he make it with us ? I doubt it . In the squad or loan this season ?

Brett

Think the ladies team have 3 new signings this season - Eddie, Rafferty and Wilkinson. Not 100% certain though but glad to see they are backing Potter

Blaine Tosh

Any update on Butland captain rumours

Gregg

We weren’t bringing youngsters through when we had a reserve league either to be honest. I think we’d be better served looking at what other small countries who do it well are doing, and copy them. Folk also hanker back to the days when youngsters were cleaning the stands etc - whilst on the continent they were out for their second training session of the day. It can’t be that hard.

Bluelacoste

4 signings, Liv McLoughlin signed after her loan expired, but they have also lost 2 of the stronger players.

Mark

Sometimes the return we get from a player on the pitch can be enough.

Baz

Let’s hope your proved right on that one 👍

Gregg

If you can’t beat some of the lesser teams at home with a young player included then what’s the point. We perpetuate the myth it’s hard to bring through young players - it shouldn’t be

Graham Roy

I’d disagree with that we did bring some decent players through in the 80’s and only stopped when the foreign influx of players started in the 90’s. It’s no surprise that from the 90’s the national side also went off a cliff as other clubs copied us.

ali t

Only if he was around £1m ish....which is not likely
