I don’t think we can read too much into it, to be honest. He didn’t miss a single game through injury in 22/23 and it’s very likely that his injury woes last season were exasperated by Michael Beale’s failure to prepare the squad adequately.

Surely League One would too much of a step down for Gildson at this stage of his career, just from a personal pride point of view if nothing else. Maybe a year playing in lower intensity over in Saudi would do him some good in the long run after the last couple of years.

I would only pay 3 million for Sima. That money could be raised by selling Lammers for 3 million or a combination of a fee from his sale, McCrorie( half a million) and Wright to Wednesday for a million. We won't miss those 3 but gain Sima. No brainer.

Can't see Goldson going to Birmingham. The "close to where he grew up" thing seems a stretch. Birmingham have been a basket case of a club that make us appear well run, and League One will be too much of a drop down for him. He'll be off to Saudi Arabia or in our squad unless a Championship team is interested. Getting a bit tired of hearing about the manager being unimpressed with the fitness levels last year. Yes, it was shocking, but at a certain point it comes across as making excuses or deflecting.

I think all the manager's talking points started to feel a bit stale towards the end of the season. Probably a side effect of taking over a lost cause "halfway through" a season that was actually only seven games old, he was fighting fires from minute one til the very end really. Hopefully he's got some new patter for us now though.

Tbh- the new owners (Rooney decision aside) are doing great work down the blues and have ploughed loads of money into the infrastructure of the club. It’s more the drop down to L1 which might surprise but think Brum will be a good fit for him should he choose to make the step!
