Powderpuff Gers fail in the frontline as they lose 2-0 to Manchester Utd at Murrayfield.

Comments

John Smith

Glad I’m not the only one who is absolutely dreading this season. Whole behind the scenes seems to be a shambles

Delgers

Pish squad being pish

Jim Milne

I could swear, rant and rave but at the end of the day it's bloody hard to be positive about this coming season.

dotty 84

Surely there are funds to at least bring on Traore until sales get made and we buy another winger in?

Gary Shaw

Congratulations Rangers…We are currently the only team in world football that can make Manchester United look good 👏

Gary Shaw

Dessers is the prime example of the whole “stats are like miniskirts” phrase!…absolutely pathetic at every aspect of football.

Graham Morrison

Do they not realise how important the up coming league will be? Our proud record of Worlds most decorated club under threat, other mob right behind us in trophy wins.Cmon to fek Rangers, get yer act together 🙈😡🇬🇧

stefan strzelecki

The way Rangers fans were treated post game at Haymarket was a disgrace by Edinburgh city council. The public road was a partitioned , fans were prohibited by steel fencing from accessing local shops, restaurants, or bars, directed into Haymarket station. You’ve seen your team , now fuck off sentiment from the road layout. I thought this particularly outrageous for a city, that prides itself for corporate hospitality. How anyone at Rangers could have even considered , Murrayfield as a suitable location is beyond me. On the football front , I thought Rangers were abysmal, didn’t see any tactics , Beale quite rightfully , got it in the neck for this. I don’t think most fans knew who or how we would we play today, nothing provided clarity. The team look poor, murrayfield is a shambles of an experience , from Scot rail Glasgow incompetence , to waiting in endless queues to access the trains, it was below substandard experience for Rangers fans.

Martin Davies

We are not in a good position entering this new season. Really concerning if we are relying on Dessers as our no9. Quote all the statistics you like but my eyes tell me he's nowhere near good enough. And he's not alone unfortunately - there are many very high earners who need moved on. What a mess. Never felt this low before a season.

Billy Forrester

We really need to sell Dessers and if that means for 2-3 million and take a loss on him so be it, we cannot go into season with that man as our 9. Same with wright, just get anything in for him and get him to fuck. We are already behind the curve with 2 weeks to go and it is very very worrying. That defence would give us heart attack too so it’s really same as before if a little worse. New season and we are all dreading it, fuck my life 🤦‍♂️

William Alston

Didn't think I would get to Pre 2015 levels of disappointment but here we are, difference now is it's not people trying to do harm to us from within it's fellow fans who are running the club into the ground, we may sign a quality CH and striker in the next 2 weeks which is absolute minimum and get by to the end of the window with a few more but that's how I feel right now

Brian Rae

As it stands, we are in deep shit. 2 weeks until the season starts. We've all seen how this ends too many times. What we need is a signing spree akin to the 90s, what we get will most likely not be anywhere near enough. I genuinely don't think I could cope watching Tom Lawrence walk around the pitch again this season.

Tom Davison

Fair summary David but quality forwards cost a lot of money. What you are suggesting is unlikely to be affordable and easier said than done.

John Hood

God that was a tough watch.

Andy MacArthur

Just on way home from the match. Both my mate and I remarked ‘we are in trouble’. The team are lacking not just quality but a spark. They looked low on motivation and confidence, the body language is worrying. If that is our first 11 for European qualifiers we could be in for humiliation.

David Campbell

We are in alot of trouble this season Ibrox will be poisonous by the time we return the apathy is already setting in. God knows how we sort this mess

Alan Cowan

I thought it couldn't get any worse than the first 45 How wrong. Zero positives from that 90. Out played by Man U under 18. Players first touch is non existent. Who's coaching, because that's unacceptable It awful What lessons have been learned by playing Dessers Matondo Wright Davies Goldson Lawrence Nothing, we know what they're like, nothing has changed, offer very little except frustration and anger If Butland has to be sold to raise funds, then do be it We need fresh faces desperately If that's the case, then the board should hang their heads in shame Wouldn't be surprised if Clement walked

Darren Stewart

The more I watch us play, the more worried I become. We're desperately short of quality and I can't see us addressing that in this window. Another transitional season beckons for an increasingly weary support that has already seen more transitions than a colony of transgender butterflies. Grim.

Alan Thomson

Even though it was a friendly, it was clear after the first 10-15 mins that Cortes wasn’t anywhere near fit enough to start!

james whyte

This squad wins zip. Poor as any since Gerrards first season. Transfers we do make will need to hit the ground running otherwise it could all be over before Xmas. Thats how deflated I feel about this lot. Brutal.

Roslyn Hutchison

Letting Tav leave will only work if the front players step up. On today’s evidence that’s not happening so we will miss his goals and assists badly unless something changes.

Andy Barnett

Yes it’s a friendly. But this group of players are desperately short of any quality. We will struggle to finish second unless 4-6 upgrades are signed. Hearts and Kilmarnock will be much closer to us than we will be to Celtic.

Martin Sutherland

Terrible watch. Been listening to the Pedro show and that squad is as bad as that season. £4m on Diomande is going to be a shocker

Boston Bear

Dare I say it… we looked better against Newcastle (under Beale) in pre season last year than we did today or even last Saturday. Hard to get excited about this team right now. Gonna be a long season ahead…

dotty 84

He's got something I think we need someone like minded with him, I think a Aribo or Kamara would type would be a great foil for him

Paul

The way Clement has been talking about Hamza Igamane you'd think we signed a 5 year old who had never left the house. Strange comments. He's played a blinder as the focus is all on the board rather than him. I don't see any style of play at all under him and starting Scott Wright is a disgrace.

Craig

Any car pod today? Glutton for punishment so I am 🤷‍♂️

Graham Jones

Davies, Lawrence, Wright and Dessers were clearly in the shop window today. That was why they started. I just can’t remember a pre-season like this where we’re struggling go get proper deals done. What we’ve managed to do is bring in the low hanging fruit and we’re now waiting for deals to start moving forward, but we have to see new faces by the end of this week. I’m not going to get upset about the game today, because it was simply an exorcise that we aren’t going to learn much from. Had we not been put into a position where we had to play this at Murrayfield, this would’ve been a bounce game at Auchenhowie or Carrington.

C. J

We are in some serious bother. The gap is going to be about 15 points.

Scott Corral

At any level this squad won’t bring any success. It’s nothing new in what I’m saying that we’ve become a basket case on and off the pitch. The remaining time in the transfer window is huge, not just one or two changes either.

Ross Matheson

Yup, this was rotten. Not getting worked up about a preseason result and I'm not even fussed that Clement doesn't have a style imprinted on the team yet. There's too much of the dross left to see a difference yet. It is, however, very frustrating we're a two weeks away from Tynecastle and this is the state of us.

Paul

Nobody is signing players off the back of a pre season friendly. If someone wants to sign a player they'll do it after analysing them for months. They started because the manager seems to favour them. Scott Wright a prime example.

Spoon

I appreciate the focus is on players however to me this set up and style isn’t interesting, exciting or effective. Dessers will rightly get criticism however how many games does he have to play up there isolated before we change the shape. Clement had his honeymoon period for me last year, the zip and zest he seemed to be able to get from the squad when he first arrived is long gone. This team slogs through matches, does little to inspire and it’s just boring to watch. Quality of player is one thing but we will play a number of other teams in the league this year who have a fraction of our budget and players of far less quality (on paper) and their coaches will get far more out of them. Few who turned out today looked anything other than bang average. Worrying signs as I believe we have some decent players but if Clement can’t harness them it’s going to be a problem, it’s fine wanting your own guys in to play a style but meantime you need to work better with what we have as the coach.

David Innes

It’s going to be a transitional season - we need to accept that or the endless cycle of mid season managerial changes will roll on again

Tamus

Dessers is utterly Jobby

Stewart Robertson

The manager said only Butland is Irreplaceable. I’d add Dujon Sterling to that. The rest ?…………..

Stewart Robertson

Highlight of the afternoon was Clement losing his shit with Dessers and literally throwing him back on to the pitch.

Latimer

Clement should be in Ten Hag's ear for a couple of loans

Conor Brown

I am sorry but once again we are a complete shambles. Our long awaited 'rebuild' has become a redecoration. With every passing week it is becoming more and more likely none of us will see the inside of ibrox until 2025. In the process wiping out hundreds of thousands, if not more of matchday revenue - NOT GOOD ENOUGH. We have the first group, players (Lawrence, Davies, Matondo, Dessers, Hagi) who are out of favour, unfit or nowhere near good enough, but are sitting on contracts paying £20k - £30k a week with years to run (Hagi, who arguably is the most saleable of this subgroup, is the only one with less than 12 months on their deal). Each one is blocking us from strengthening unless we can shift them first. - NOT GOOD ENOUGH. We then have the second group (Goldson, Tavernier, Cantwell) who appear to be out of favour/being shown the door/asking to leave/working their notice. These are players that will absolutely need replaced if they are to move on, it will be August soon and this is still up in the air. - NOT GOOD ENOUGH. Then we have the third group of players, (Danilo, Cortez, Jefte, Nsiala, Igamane) who quite honestly could be good, could be absolutely shite, we just don't know because we are being forced to use our pre season games to put Sub Group 1 in the shop window (Isn't pre-season for getting ready for theh season ahead???) - NOT GOOD ENOUGH. Dreading the qualifiers, if we get pumped out (could happen to the best Rangers side) and then lose at porkhead (again, could happen to any Rangers side) the support will turn toxic one again.

8luenose1872

How many fkn seasons have we needed commanding centre halfs a decent striker and a right winger but still its not been addressed. The board have had far too of an easy ride on this.

David Innes

Well summed up. Our hit rate for successful signings has been abysmal since Gerrard left and now the chickens are coming home to roost.

Fraser86

Agreed this year is going to be tough, the leadership group which is OK but not goid enough need moved on and with the turnaround we're going to be shite, then come next year we will be in a more stable place hopefully clement stays/rides it out for next year

Billy Forrester

Can’t make excuses for him being isolated, his passing and general play with the ball was just shite

Heart and Hand

We have signed rubbish for years and it’s caught us. Now we need to ship some of that rubbish and replace with better.

Spoon

No excuses made however Danilo was no more effective and whoever is up front is going to struggle if we continue to plod through the gears instead of show some quality and dynamism. The formation doesn’t work for me at all, you can swap anyone in or out the 9 and the supply is still poor.

Gary Shaw

Full team is mince but everything falls apart at the striker….soul destroying for midfielders with Dessers playing in front of you but still doesn’t excuse the lack of ability in the rest of them,

Gary Shaw

I hope you have a load of money to make it worth your while coz they’ll be the shortest odds that they’ve ever been.

Donald Mackay

Just another wee Dessers moan. The first goal came from a dreadful Dessers pass which was behind Cortes when we were in transition. Rather than acknowledging his mistake he had a go at Cortes for - I assume - not being where Dessers inadequate pass was aimed. I was at the game and saw it clearly. This contretemps distracted both players and the rest is history. This, in my own observation, is far from first time Dessers has tried to blame others for his failings. So he doesn’t just fail to score goals, he helps costs us goals too. I like the big guy but today was the final, final, final straw for me.

Rona Bluebell

I got soaked, seated so high the players looked like ants, sat next to utter idiots, and had to watch Scott Wright AGAIN. Utterly depressing. Our main hope is a new medic team that gets them fit and keeps injuries away. 😭

Andrew Meldrum

It's going forward that worries me most. Swap Ridvan in for Jefte and we don't lose many goals in the SPFL, given the level we face. But going forward - we need Danilo fit pronto, a new 10 and RW, Cortes needs to step up and that's just the starting XI. I'm not saying we're fine defensively, but I can't see where the goals come from (assuming Tav is away, but your RB shouldn't be your top scorer and leading the assists as well).

Martin Sutherland

I’m not seeing it. Both players mentioned done it in spells and cost peanuts. Too high an outlay for that sort of contribution

Graham johnston

Never felt so underwhelmed going into a season. I suppose that's not a bad thing after being positive the last few seasons and then we've fallen flat on our face. We seriously have no chance if winning the league this year.

Grant Hutton

Gerrard’s comments years ago about “fixing the roof while the sun is shining” and not doing so is seriously coming back to bite now. The sun isn’t shining to the point that we can’t even fix the roof. We cannot sell any of these bang average players to even attempt to replace them. Tom Lawrence is probably on £20k + a week and is 30 years old. Who is ever going to pay us money and then reward him with a similar contract? No chance. Scott Wright has been up for sale for about 2 years (I doubt we’re demanding much of a fee) and we still can’t get rid of him

Al-WATP

To start with, I am absolutely not shooting down the team or the manager at this point and my concerns are definitely not based on todays performance in isolation but for several months now I’ve been struggling to see what is his philosophy, what is his style of football, what is he trying to create here ? We’ve all accepted the concept of let’s give the manager the chance to bring in his own players which is wholly correct and I also appreciate that maybe he hasn’t had the funding he’d expected or hoped for, but since say February are we honestly seeing any sign of improvement? And even if he hasn’t had a chance yet to bring in the players he wants, does at least our shape or style of football look right ? I’m really not convinced at all

Andrew Hillis

Midfield is the issue - utter dross

Jamie

He is injured and the club are denying this until we sign another striker to make it look better for them. It’s a disgrace. Regardless of what league professional footballers play in, they are not so far off match fitness wise that they can’t get a few minutes a few weeks later. Rangers again making an arse of a reasonably decent fee for us.

Gary Shaw

Scott Wright isn’t great, granted but he gets some amount of abuse and isn’t anywhere near the worst……remember that he cost pennies from Aberdeen….We should be pointing the fingers at the host of players that have cost millions on transfers and wages….Wright at least has pace…..Cantwell,Lawrence,Raskin,Diomande,Cortez,Dessers all cost fortunes and get nowhere near the abuse aimed at Wright and offer very little.

Craig mackay

Clement will be gone by the end of October if not sooner. The players are poor but this formation and whatever style of play he is trying to implement simply doesn't work. We constantly get overun in the midfield and our cutting edge up front is non existent. The amount of poor signings over the last few years is scandalous. We sign a new striker this summer only to be told he isn't able to train with the first team as he lacks the physical attributes, it's beyond negligence at this stage

Andrew Hillis

I am sorry to say - I have no faith in this manager! What is our system , what is our style of play? We create next to nothing!

David Innes

If he does go who replaces him? No decent manager with a proven track record is going near us at this point

Al-WATP

Andrew, as per my comments earlier, For the last few months we’ve seen no style of play or system, all the top teams play with a high press but ours is non existent and every team whether it be Motherwell or Ross County have shown a better pressing style

James Murdoch

Anything in the Whittaker story Davie? Seems unlikely given how this window is going. Or a plant to get fans onside? Aww well we tried...

David Kiltie

The last 3 seasons, despite all our difficulties, we have finished 17, 35 and 28 points ahead of the team in 3rd place. At the start of the 5 seasons when we won the league pre-bankruptcy predictions that we would struggle to finish 2nd were frequently trotted out. Manchester United are obviously not the force they were but they are still a high ranking EPL team. New signings are a must. The occurrence of the Euros and Copa America has slowed down the area of the transfer market occupied by the elite clubs, with obvious effects for a club like ourselves who operate downstream from that level.

David Kiltie

Tav’s contribution has been huge but I suspect that another season would seem him go off a cliff, a la McGregor in his final season. A post-Tavernier team will be based on a more defensively solid right back and a midfield which contributes a higher level of goals.

Roslyn Hutchison

I agree, and that’s my point, we don’t yet have a midfield or a forward line who contribute enough goals to make up for him leaving or staying and losing form.

Paul Kerr

We're in bother. Not having the budget to upgrade Scott Wright without selling him or somebody else does not bode well.

Heart and Hand

It sounds highly unlikely to me and as you can imagine the press guys at Ibrox were asked about it today and I got the impression it sounds highly unlikely to them too.

David Innes

I think it’s FFP related rather than any serious financial trouble but worrying none the less

Jamie Paterson

I don’t even want the season to start. The support are so disconcected from this group of players masquerading as rangers players

Rose Mcloughlin

That was my highlight too...absolutely loved it...dessers is so dramatic its stupid...but wastes time.

Alan Cowan

Had started to type something very similar but lost the will to live after typing the names Dessers Wright Lawrence Mattondo and s**te multiple times. Not looking forward to this season at all

Rose Mcloughlin

I was so looking forward to seeing my team play again...but the singing was low key at the start..and dessers acting so hard done by was mental...same old ### from him...enjoyed Sterling in his hopefully rightfull role if tav is away...but was it neccesary for fans to leave right after the second goal went in..its a friendly....mind you try telling that to the security at the gates....the ammount of rucksacks taken off fans was ridiculous...but several clever fans went and hid them in bushes nearbye to pick up on the way out...now its pouring and my handbag is checked and they were confiscating all the brollies ? Was I going to clobber someone with it....why as fans are we treated like this..disgusting.

Tom Davison

Yes without any signs of improvement and our finances are so precarious that we are kidding ourselves on if we think we have the money to spend on quality forwards.

KAD87

This is exactly what we need! Should start putting the manager under as much as pressure as possible and get rid of our 4th manager half way through a season in 4 years! People need to chill out a bit.

KAD87

We should get rid eh? Let’s ramp up the pressure and go back to square one!

CJT

Hard watch, again. It needs investment that FFP prevents or sales. None seem overly likely. Would you buy any of the unwanted playing today or in the treatment room based on our end to last season or start to this? Don’t think so. Universally on other social media channels all the usual suspects are not good enough for a very poor league but we expect millions flowing in. That just doesn’t make any sense. Therefore the just sell them comments aren’t particularly real world. Neither is the force them out approach. We contracted with them and they are entitled to stay unless someone offers them a better financial package. Simple really. It is 100% horrible position but this is a mid-long term multi transfer window fix. As a club we’ve f***ed it since 55. If we don’t accept that’ll take time to fix we’ll continue with knee jerk actions that will run out of steam after 15 or so games. Seen it 3 times in the last 3 years. Definition of madness and all that. To progress at all we need leadership. That comes from a proper CEO. The board’s main failing is not getting one in. Their corporate roll is direction and governance not executive authority over day to day football business like ins and outs. Set a budget and direction and let professionals deliver. If they don’t deliver then act. Again basic simple corporate responsibility. Currently in trying to do both they’re doing neither. As for PC. Seriously folks if as a support we think in our current position we can get better I despair. Who else with that track record would come here in this position with no money and elements in the support baying for blood at the slightest blip when we all know just how difficult as a club we’ve made it for anyone to succeed? As for style etc. you need the right players to play the way you want. All PC has is younger players he can mould to that style. Again longer term. As for now he’d need to buy it. As noted that is very challenging. Not what anyone wants to hear but unless we accept and focus our energies on ensuring club are doing things right for the future all we do is contribute to a spiral of managerial change and failure. I dread to imagine how that might end. Big, big few months for everyone.

Conor Brown

It would be very Rangers to deem signing him for £1m too expensive only to sign him for 7 times as much a year later.

Paul Kerr

I don't think that's the case either and I agree David FFP is a huge hinderance no doubt about it. In our case it's gotten out of hand. Bloated wages, losing out on fees for players and so many more mistakes that have come home to roost. I'm maybe too 'Rangers da' these days but I can't help feel we need a total bastard in that footballing department, a director of football who is ruthless. We talk a lot about standards, but they are no use unless somebody is enforcing them. If we played to that mentality properly we could develop our own talent and maybe get on the right side of FFP. Failure of academy debate 30 year long and still going strong😂

Craig

I actually think with a few players from the first half and a few from the subs that came on we could be in better shape than what we saw… What worries me is; Danilo not starting, Lowry not starting amongst others from the Academy to try and show the players we want rid of that they have no future. Jefte further forward and Ridvan in his position would’ve made more sense. The lack of imagination I’m squad selection is worrying me, especially as the fans are just waiting to implode. Even Devine on at RB and Sterling through the middle alongside Dio and Barron is a pretty solid midfield if we could get the forward areas sorted. I’m clutching at hope we had players playing for a move today instead of being serious squad players next season. Dessers - just dross and scored through surprise last year more than anything. Lawrence- done, I can still hit a shot in the park but I can’t play 11s Matondo - A shite Sakala on the left without the charisma - you could say he’s like the Japanese guy who they have who’s pish - difference is that theirs can trap a ball Wright - baffled I wouldn’t be so worried if I knew Danilo was gonna hit the ground running - but I don’t think anyone is. Front load the transfers for next summer if needs be, get a defender, Sima and a striker - even shankland or say out and out it’s a transition - and we’ll limp on until January or next summer. Rant over

Spoon

The issue is a good coach might be working toward something but he can’t lose sight of now. All managers want to swap their current squad for “their” players but the reality is good coaches work with and develop who they have. My bigger concern is whatever the style is doesn’t seem to work well domestically, we look impotent and it goes far beyond just getting a better 9 or 10 it’s systemic and structural. Would like to see him work to get more out of what we have playing a system that suits our players not blaming failure on having the wrong bodies. We have what we have and it doesn’t look like much will change anytime soon.

Craig mackay

Totally agree however when have we as a support given time to a manager that isn't going to win the league. Gerrard was the exception but you could see a progression year on year

Craig mackay

I don't disagree , unfortunately you can see McInnes being brought in as a stop gap until the end of season in that scenario

Robert Bradley

Matondo....Jesus Christ....Just embarrassing

Stace1ofthePeople

Replace dessers with a decent striker and we are getting at least 1 goal yesterday, potentially 2. Matondo is absolutely rotten get rid sick of him tripping over the ball or running it out of play. We need a RW, a decent striker and a midfielder to contribute. Seriously how can we not get rid of Lawrence dowelling Wright for example and just cut our losses?

KennyY

He was replaced with Danilo who for me isn’t any better

Stace1ofthePeople

Yeah I know we don't know if danilo is any good and will he stay fit after such a big op? I am meaning we need another striker like shankland who has a proven track k record. At least for this season. Not saying shankland is the be all and end all but it would show the board are genuine about trying to win something. We've signed a youth prospect igmane. Can forget him this season he probably won't even appear.

KMc

It’s all a bit depressing. Never known a build up to a season like it.

Glen Kane

Who knew that hedge fund managers and accountants don't have the skills to run a football club.

Ryan McMillan

Without Tav we can’t create chances? Who’d a thunk it?

Gregg

Gerrard was part of the problem - wanted to “be backed” without selling players.

Gregg

The consensus seems to have been that this isn’t a one window rebuild. We are halfway through one window. Hopefully we will see some movement as the market starts to get going and have identified suitable players - please god can we make right wing a priority.

Grant Hutton

That did seem to be the case but ultimately we don’t know. I can’t really remember any concrete bids coming in for any of our players which again comes back to the board/DoF not being able to attract interest for our players.

Paul

And that's the problem. We never should have been relying on any one player to be a creator. It should be all over the team. Tav should be moved on regardless.

Gregg

Rangers das love the bastard patter - in no other business do you hear it 😂

Spoon

You’re not wrong mate and I wouldn’t be jumping on the sacking bandwagon but there is context. We are rapidly becoming Aberdeen of the 90s, bang average but harking back to a spell of glory that’s long gone. If this was a one season rebuild in a ten year period where we won 50% of the trophies we competed for then I think the fans accept a cycle ends and a rebuild takes time. If we had been dominant with a core and it was a two year lean spell the fans could take it. What we have is about 12 or so years of dross with an anomaly where we managed to win a league. We haven’t done well in any season outwith that and even cups where it’s not an OF final haven’t gone well enough. Hell even in the lower leagues we didn’t win many trebles to point to. The club is in a malaise and it’s hard to see a way out if radical change isn’t made. I agree that still might mean we need to rebuild but the issue is ARE we actually rebuilding and what is the plan? For too many years the rebuild hasn’t happened or been more of the same. That for me is the issue. Clement seemed to get some joy coming in but then this group have shown they can generate their own short term bounce so maybe it was less about him coming in than Beale going. Since then his tactics haven’t been producing the results or signs of progression we need, his tactics look too rigid and regardless of what we all think of our players they should be good enough to blitz most other teams in the league. My issue is the decline is continuous, the financial drain is continuous, the bad board decisions are continuous and the club and fans appear to want to just pretend we are back and the force we were, no evidence points to that on or off field sadly. I absolutely agree with your point and support a proper rebuild but I remain unconvinced this board has the blueprint to deliver it, every year we delay makes it worse but until we are brave enough to be honest and are willing to actually go in a different direction I can’t take any of this tinkering around the edges seriously. The players are the wrong guys in the wrong movie, some are past it, some won’t ever be it and some are probably better than this set up shows but one thing is for sure we aren’t utilising what we have properly.

Chris Graham 🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Where are we going as a football club 6-7 of the starting 11 should be nowhere near this “new” look clement side It’s grading on farcical a club our size is operating like this

maccalsa

This is not a a build, a mid build or anything of the sort, we have to just keep plodding along and hope we sign someone for a small amount and sell them on in a few transfer windows for a lot of money. Once we are making net profits on our transfers we can think about rebuilding properly

Ryan McMillan

We should’ve, but we haven’t & just moving him on for the sake of it will just make us worse

Paul

He has regressed. He needs moved on. We can't turn down a few million for a soon to be 33yr old. We need to accept this.

Gregg

As I said mate I think we were hoping for a big bang of ins (and outs). We’ve been told that can’t happen for financial reasons - which I’m accepting of and hoping we can dig out some wins early doors and refresh the squad a player at a time over the next 6 weeks. You could talk all day and night about what we should have done, mistakes etc but it’s been done to death - don’t mean you personally.

Gregg

I have always been a massive tav fan - if we had players delivering week in week out what he has we would have won a lot more. He’s been a scapegoat. But if, as Davy hinted at, we can get £3m plus for him we have to take it. We have a replacement - who will bring other aspects to the role - and we can re-invest in a right winger to take the load of goals and assists, though doubtful one player can replace his numbers.

Alastair Thomson Mills

We have gone backwards. Dessers is not the answer. We are not on a part of with Hearts, Hibs or Aberdeen nevermind a cash ritch Celtic. Do we have enough time to buy what we need a cb and three forwards? If we don't sell? No. Feel fed up.

Scott Tolmie

I completely agree with this, dessers gets all the flack, I tell you what Danilo isn’t any better. I’d argue his hold up play is even worse.

Granters

What’s happened to the Dessers sale? He look on his way out the door a couple of weeks ago. Is this another case of interested clubs being unwilling / unable to match what he’s earning with us?

Craig Galt

We are a bin fire at the minute. I know it's preseason but that was a painful watch yesterday. Most of that team just ain't it and I'm struggling to see how we can have success this season without a radical overhaul.

It’s like Everton.Different managers bringing in different players and then getting binned and the next guy in is left with the pieces from four different jigsaws. The players are shite on big wages and won’t move on. I don’t see that being Clement’s fault so the board should step up and admit what a cunt they’ve made of it and give him a bit of space.

First season in a while where I have low expectations before a ball is kicked. Unlikely to qualify for champs league and unlikely to come through early league games in August unscathed. Sigh. We had a couple of seasons like this under Big Eck, deep down you knew we didn’t have enough to win the league so it was hoping you did something in Europe and hope you could nick a cup or two…except we will likely get Celtic in both cups did early the way our luck is going…

What a fkn shambles we are. Too many mediocre players on big wages, making it difficult to move them on. Having to pay money to play our games at Hampdump and in the process suck up to the haters at the SFA & SPFL. I’m really starting to get pissed off with this board.

Mate I never once said that - but surely calling out a clear lack of playing style, lack of press and lack of intensity is fair enough ??? At this time we have to back him, but it’s ok to raise concerns if we have them….. doesn’t make us less staunch

You’re not wrong again bud, the concern is until we are brave and change it…nothing changes. Said already this season I don’t mind us admitting this is a two year build and we actually properly go with youth and get rid of the non contributing players but we seem unwilling to tear off the plaster. We aren’t the powerhouse we were on or off the field, let’s just admit it. We need a new direction and ethos so let’s try something different that’s my issue. It’s also been said many times that doing the same thing and expecting different results is the definition of madness, well we keep doing the same thing and it needs to stop or the results will continue.
