In May, the club couldn't get the season ticket money off of us quick enough. Now with a week to go they still haven't advised manu fans of their seat numbers. Shocking customer service.

Not Rangers related but registering my shock at hearing a populist REM track on the DU! I thought the Overlord had placed a sine die on them post 1991

Damien Stubbs

Only here for the music 👀😂 banger.

I’ve always tried to be positive at the start of each season; however, as we enter weekend 1 with Tav, Wright and Dessers not only still here but likely starters it is very difficult to see anything better than second best this season.

Alan Weir

No more than a few hundred in the crowd and a power cut about five songs in. Stipe had the voice of an angel live and on record.

Derek Howie

I have a feeling Tav will still be here when the window shuts. Belter of a tune though.

I hope the Kyiv tie doesn't come too soon but it may well do. Though, I'll caveat that by saying Kyiv lost to Union Berlin 3-2 in a friendly 2 weeks ago. No idea what sort of team they had out but it's a small bit of hope at least. Being ex-forces myself, I'm surprised more teams, including our 1st team don't take advantage of these team-building exercises. I'll be honest, certain players in our squad need a good ragging. :-)

Ryan Stewart

Agree with the overall point re Tav, I do think it’s best if he leaves and that Sterling is ready to step up. One of the issue with that though is he seems unable to stay fit for any longer than 5 minutes at a time. If Tav was to leave we would absolutely need to sign a proper replacement as Sterling simply hasn’t shown he can be relied upon to be available

Brian Rae

Watching that unfold would please me and would certainly build character in those who may need it.

Who can remember David Holmes from the 86/87 That championship season video where he says “ funny feelings in the tummy” it just stuck with me and I say it randomly to my wife every so often. I must have watched that video a hundred times .

Craig

Great podcast! I absolutely love Tav but the time to move on is here and I will 'be disappointed if he's still out main RB. Will also be disappointed if Dessers is out main striker going into the new season. Could be a frustrating year ahead falling short again I fear..... Still hopeful something might happen with Dessers.

Ryan McMillan

A mainstream REM song? Hey everyone, this guy’s a phoney

Luke

Living the dream? He’s living a daydream if he thinks he has a part to play going forward. As far as I’m concerned, the rebuild starts when he goes.

Martin Sutherland

The reality is, we are in for a tough season. New squads take time. The new faces will get a chance but James Tavernier won’t. It’s in his best interest to move on.

Gregg

Whoever is lining up for us will get my full support - shouldn’t be picking and choosing who to back

Andy Barnett

Even with the limited but contributing Dessers staying, we lack fire power badly. Roofe and Lammers have left, while Danilo is unproven and Igamane an unknown. Agreed on Tav. Although I didn’t expect the entire old guard moved on in a single window. Goldson, Borna and Lundstram is a start. Perhaps the manager is waiting to see if Sterling can stay fit. Could be a late window sale.

Gordon

Roofe has been a basic irrelevance since the 21 season barring some significant one off cameo’s but agree otherwise.

Kevin Blyth

Was that the video with Davie Cooper at the end saying “it’s not the end, it’s just the beginning?” That one always stuck with me.

Gregg

Don’t think Lammers and roofe going impact our firepower given neither contributed last year. We have Danilo back. Ideally I’d like dessers out and a new 9 brought in

Andy Barnett

Lammers may have had an impact this season if played in the right position, but that was a massive IF, and I agree re the others. My point is that we moved on two non-contributing forwards, and only have one semi-contributing fit striker at the club. No way we can challenge without a prolific front man.

Alan Keegan

I’m drinking my tea out of my Tav mug after listening on my morning walk. Have to agree David.

Take your view Andy and see the merits in what your saying, I would play devils advocate and say doesn’t this mean we should be looking at utilising what we have far more effectively by tweaking the system and maximising the players we have? Constantly bemoaning what we get from the guys who actually do score and not focusing why we don’t get far more from others across the team to me seems the issue. I’m not saying you were in that camp but lots of the fans are happy to chop players contributing 20+ goals out the team when to my own eye the concern is playing like we do where are those being replaced from ? Danillo so far has been as available as Roofe, his form was up and down and he looked no more prolific or deadly than Dessers, but the longer he was out the better he became ironically. This is the issue any team that plays a single striker formation suffers from, the main guy you have plays if fit, you can’t then have a guy at the same wage / level on the bench not playing costing a fortune but never playing. When you do bring the second guy in he isn’t match fit or slick so doesn’t look as good, worse for the third string guy. At least in a pair one guy can rotate and give a bit of consistency and stability. The biggest issue however is that we lack goals from the rest of the team, defenders should be chipping in with more, midfielders should definitely be giving double figures and the rest of the attackers should definitely be getting 15 or so. Our team hasn’t looked deadly in open play or from set pieces near enough. We have scored nice goals and had spells of play but there’s never the building pressure or inevitability that a goals coming from our players who just don’t seem to have an eye for goal.
