Great news Mon the Gers!!!

Craig McWhinnie

Good but also kinda getting Steve Clark signing a new contract before the euros vibes, not that I’m comparing their managerial qualities

Graham Morrison

Delighted! Give the man the right players, he will be successful 👍⚽️

Jock Paterson

Good news, I think, but a new contract 8 months in? Strange.

Graeme McLeod

This fella has some agent as there's absolutely no need to give him an extension at this stage.

Craig

Hopefully this means there is a concrete plan in place for fixing things in the long term.

Bruce Burns

Well that's a clear message. We might be in for a difficult season but the manager will be going nowhere.

Brian Rae

We badly need some stability and this is a clear message that PC will be the man for the foreseeable future and no October changeovers will be happening this year or next. As difficult as it may be, we as a support must show patience if things don't go as well as we demand. Hopefully that's not the only announcement today. Players, please!

Francisco Villena

Happy with this. Do not want to become a club that changes manager every other week. I think he can build something special.

Colin Gardner

That's a bold move. Basically telling us no matter what happens this season we are going to stick with him.

Robert White

Aye, I see the long term stability but essentially we have now admitted it's a slow long rebuild. New style, new academy style etc. But I've not been convinced for 6 months. Can't see our style of play

Martin Sutherland

He hasn’t been here a year yet. No need to renew his deal. Just got ourselves in a position that if it goes Pet Tong we will have to fork out more cash

David Craig

Anyone reckon he had the board by the balls for lying to him about transfers and money. He said it publicly. Probably went in and said I want more more or I’ll walk and say you lied. Call me pessimistic but it’s what it looks like to me 🤷🏼‍♂️

Paul

The extension of Clement's contract is baffling. It seems unnecessary given that he still had several years remaining. To those who argue that constant managerial changes are detrimental, I disagree. In any profession, if you don't deliver results, you're let go. Football is no different. Our club operates the same way as any other. Regardless of the board's statements, his contract length won't protect him if the team's performance is subpar.

Paul

Not a chance. If he doesn't get results he will go. I don't care what the contract is. Which is why it is utterly baffling

greg sutherland

If he does get approached by Belgium our payout just got much bigger

Paul

We'll show patience if we can see progress, winning football games. If we don't then he'll be gone like every other manager, regardless of his contract length.

Colin Gardner

Sorry mate but I'm afraid that's more a message to us saying rebuilds take at least 2 years. No point asking him to rebuild then jettison him when we don't have a good start.

Gregg

Happy with this - now to get the right people on the board and on the park to support him

Paul

You genuinely think it we lose big matches and we see no progress, and the fans turn he won't get sacked? We have to see improvements otherwise he will go. The fans will decide, not the board. We'll stick with him if we can see what he is trying to do.

Alek K

Considering how he had us playing after the initial new manager bounce and the collapse afterwards this feels wrong to me, this wasn't earned.

Colin Gardner

I do mate. We ain't sacking him this season. I agree we need to see some sort of improvement in style but remember where he got us to with the shite he had to work with and the injuries in March to May.The board are all in on him and let's face who is out there manager wise ?

Steve Clark

Great news,he’s obviously gone up the board with a long term plan to turn things around and the board are backing his plan.remember it took Steven Gerrard three years to build a league title winning side.we have to get away from the merry go round of changing managers every year

Michael Gray

Happy with the extension Davie?

Spoon

Of all the business we need to be doing this season, this just feels unnecessary. His report card to date is more positive than negative but seems unnecessary at this stage and there remain a number of questions unanswered around his ability to deliver. Surely even the turn of the year was a better time to revisit this where we can see how his preseason has set the team up and what he has done with his own signings.

Michael

Excellent news

David Innes

Brilliant news. I’ve grudgingly accepted this is very likely to be a transitional season. Hopefully the board will stick to their guns and not cave into those who will be demanding his head the first time we drop points. That said he doesn’t have a free pass - we need to see real progress and he absolutely needs to win the old firm games at Ibrox.

Brian Rae

Apparently his last contract required the full amount to be paid up if he was sacked. I expect this one to be the same. He's not getting sacked this season or next if results don't go out way. He's on 2.5-3m per season. Your definition of progress might differ from those running the club.

Alex

Brilliant new.

Scott Watson

What do we really mean when we say "progress"? We're already safely second, what else is there but to win? Beat Celtic? Fine - but if we beat celtic a couple of times and don't win the league, I doubt anyone will be calling that a step forward Play "good football" and still be second? What does a season look like when we don't win the league and consider ourselves to have progressed?

ali t

Stability......good. everyone is now clear....lets make another couple of moves and build as we keep promising to do.

Gordon Mac

All in with the gaffer. Regardless of this season we are sticking with him it's the right thing to do

David Innes

For me it’s about implementing a discernible style of play, stopping conceding the same cheap goals all the time, being more ruthless in attack and Clement showing us he has the ability to actually improve the younger players in the squad who undoubtedly have talent.

Michael Gray

Personally I think it's a positive. Although his "style" might not be so clear, he does have a good eye for the right profile of player and attributes needed to succeed. And ultimately it's the calibre of players that will win you titles more often than systems

CJT

Signalling the end of the annual managerial replacement loop and showing faith Clement can deliver a rebuild over time. Nothing guarantees any football manager his job but a statement they’re in it with him for the next season or so. Good news for me and a message to the rumoured dressing room snowflakes that they’ll need to get with the programme or get off their backside and find themselves somewhere else to play.

Stephen

I agree. Sacking managers every October hasn’t worked. Any failings this season should be directed at the board instead of the manager. Fans need to have a reality check. There are a growing number of fans that think losing the first old firm game of the season is now a sackable offence. It’s getting ridiculous.

Paul

He will get sacked like every other manager if he fails. No manager can oversee failure at Rangers. Win the league or at least take it to the final day. Show us your vision. Anything else is failure. The board caved on Sydney, you expect them to ride out a manager no matter what?

John Smith

Good vibes from this. Surely everyone on the same page

Tom Davison

Makes sense as PC has made it evident that he sees the best way forward is develop good young guys who will become first team regulars. This decision will not please the importance and shortsighted within our support but they are often displeased anyway

Dougie

Personally I’m super happy with this! The negativity on socials have reached boiling point, it’s the classic Scottish double down and no amount of positivity will change that. The board have clearly got the man they want for the long term, NOW BACK HIM WITH THE TOOLS NEEDED! ❤️🤍💙

John Davidson

Clement is a talented manager and I am glad he is at Rangers. However, if anyone thinks that the length of contract in any way insulates him from the bullet should things go pear shaped, then I have some magic beans to sell you. All this means is that the club would be libel for a more costly compensation payout. (Equally, should he win the league, it also means more compensation for us if another club wants him.) Either way, it's an interesting development.

Mr J K Murray

glad for der trust being assembled but skeptical as our record of the reality of going pear shaped over the last decade, is abysmal,

Bixby Snyder

It’s a good move for the manager trading model.

Ricky

Good news.

Neil

That's what worries me as well. Things are fairly toxic now ... but if we start the season with a few bad results I can already see our fans making his position untenable. It's a pretty brave move IMO.

David Innes

Sacking him this season would be mental and would pretty much ensure no decent manager touches the job for the foreseeable future

Jock Paterson

You’re a real ray of sunshine Paul. How can we fail with such enthusiasm around the place!

Brian Rae

The chairman already stated he's not in favour of a managerial revolving door. Unless we finish 3rd or worse, PC will get the time of at least what Gerrard got as like it or not, we are stating from scratch once again. We are also not going to get a better calibre of manager than we currently have. We literally cannot afford to change manager every season.

Paul

Doesn't matter what I think mate. Won't have any effect on the team. I say what I see. I hope he succeeds. I have my doubts
