A question please before all the comments flood in: So Bennet on the 29th July said we have 3 consignments for the stadium and C1 was in Glasgow. C2 was to arrive in the 2nd week of August with C3 the 3rd week of August. So we’re now just in the 3rd week of August and I’d expect an update next week that all the materials have arrived… I don’t see the stadium issues being a valid argument not to have fans in their stadium. The penalties for not giving away fans an allocation should have been written into our authorities articles / rules and we should have been pushing that after last year. Why haven’t we been liaising with the authorities on this as we now have them trying to twist the knive in a situation we should have fixed? (I don’t believe for one minute we couldn’t give a 100% guarantee that their fans would have been giving an allocation at Ibrox)

Andrew Meldrum

My usual DU habit is to glance at headlines, and listen if there is something I don't already know about. But this week I have also been looking for a headline saying 'steel arrives'. Batch 2 was due this week. Hopefully that headline is coming tomorrow (with song of the day being 'metal man's by the Breeders.

William George Bell

For the EPL to be the best in the world according to English commentators they didn’t win one European trophy last season despite being so cash rich.

Graham Roy

Celtic trying to gain an advantage for the next game imo.

Craig Newton

Anything on the kit fiasco that the STV are reporting?

KennyY

If we don’t sign anyone else in these last 2 and a bit weeks then we have to bring some of these youngsters into the first team squad to bolster the numbers. Lovelace is a real talent but in the last year of his contract. Surprised that Malky Thomson is still involved at Rangers at all following his complete mismanagement of the women’s team.

Vanb bryceter

We should never have entered into any discourse with them. They have tried and are trying to kill our club. I used to be ok with their hoaching sporting rivalry. Now i utterly detest everything and anything about them they are utter scummy cheating barstewards.

Peter Hosie

That’s the point, the rules needs changed so there is penalties and it’s just weak bargaining on our behalf if the spfl are ignoring this.

Roddy John Murray

Closing comments were absolutely bang on David. As Sir Winston once said "If you're going through hell, keep going!" Keep up the good work

Heart and Hand

Elite have tried to pull a fast one and put things in the agreement that we didn't agree to by looks of it.

David Martin

Times are getting bad when I’m almost siding with celtic on this one. I wouldn’t trust our board to change a lightbulb, they would likely order the netting, fuck the dimensions up, it would arrive the day after the game vs them and be the size of an A4 piece of paper

Graham Roy

It’s the decision of the clubs to bring in this rule and none will do it for the simple fact they might be on receiving end at some point. Not right but until We establish ourselves as a genuine option for clubs to go against Celtic then nothing changing.

Jim McCutcheon

It's a mess and it's hard to see any improvement anytime soon and the fans are starting to react with the numbers attending 🤷‍♂️, needs to get sorted quickly easy to say a know but it's a must , thanks again David 👍

Some interesting tidbits in that … we are currently in an awful place with many of the problem we face our own fault. We are all over the place in terms of strategic direction, one minute we are buying expensive jobbers to make an immediate impact, then we are prioritising long-term infrastructure development to increase revenue (long term) … then we are spending what little cash we have on youth player ‘punts’ , whom we ‘might’ be able to sell for a profit in future, while the first team is basically circling the drain in performance terms. We have won 7 or 8 of our last 30 games … but then give the manager a contract extension (creating a fireguard for the board) … we are being run either by idiots or schizophrenics … Two interesting things came out of the update today: 1/ Boyd’s comment about us never being a project … I said this three years ago. We will never be an Ajax or a mid-level French team who develop talent and sell for millions. This cannot be our model, we may get lucky occasionally but we have to win things. 2/ your comment, David about board member ‘interference’ … this would explain a lot if we are being run by committee with Bennet a weak figurehead and board member investor pushing their own agendas (NEH, the new sports bar, the stadium upgrade - in terms of contracts). We forget that football ownership is at the end of the day sought by businessmen who engage in ‘business’ with all its shady connotations … this would explain also why we have been so reticent about appointing a CEO to actually run things professionally too … anyway, I guess this is very sensitive ground but interesting to keep an eye on …

Scott Christian

Nice song, board is hanging us fans out to dry!!

Cameron Poole

Did I miss the flagship? Can’t see it on the feed.

Kirk Guthrie

It's painful at this point, but I guess it's a bit cathartic to keep listening! I'll stick with H&H like I do the club ❤️🤍💙

George Higgins

What happened to the flagship show ?

Dave White

Where's the flagship? Is always a good listen when things have gone to shite.

Rory Macgregor

Just want a ‘Some club interested in Rangers player’ rumor and a bag of cans.

Baz

No Surrender David Edgar 👊

Alan Riddell

They want another advantage when we’re in turmoil on the pitch. Their excuses are pathetic and usual Celtic logic, which they have applied for their own benefit. Happy not to go to that place anymore anyway but appreciate other fans still want to go. Not surprised this year as all going wrong.

Angus Mackay

Have to allow myself a sardonic laugh when the likes of Boyd and Charlie Miller weigh in about people at Rangers not doing well enough. It’s not like either of those wasters ever came close to fulfilling their potential.

Craig

Glad I’m not the only one! I messed up my routine last night waiting for it to drop - I survived, but it’s left me anxious 😂

Andrew Hind

They had no intention of giving us tickets, and just look for any excuse to blame us

John Smith

To be fair Boyd says that in his article. I don’t think that takes away from the fact he’s telling the truth

John Smith

Do you expect any last minute bids for Shankland ?

Ally Mair

The backing of 3 thousand noisy bears at their midden could have given the team some much needed support and confidence heading into the Celtic fixture , but that lot do what that lot do and look to gain any advantage over us , the souness , gough , ferguson and m’coist’s of previous gers teams would have relished taking them on with all the fans against them …..can we say the same of tav , souttar , wright and dessers of todays team , once again I fear not 😢

Craig

Glad I’m not the only one! I messed up my routine last night waiting for it to drop - I survived, but it’s left me anxious 😂

william hendrie

Like every bear, was gutted and angry after Tuesday but the David and Todd show put a smile back on my face, and that's what it's all about, wouldn't be without H&H, keep up the great work

Angus Mackay

Bring back Alan “big shiny thing” Bradley , miss him off the podcasts

Stephen

Thanks for the pod. You deal with these situations well. I wouldn’t want to listen to a pod that was just half an hour of ranting and raving. Important to tell the truth but try and end it on a positive note.

Hendi

Kris Boyd talks a load of pish. He's also obviously got an issue with PC. Just because Boyd says we aren't a project, and need to win, doesn't mean we aren't a project or we will win. We are so far behind that the only option is to begin a project. We need to take a step back to take steps forward. It's short term thinking and signings that's contributed to the current situation - signing "ready made" dross like Lawrence, Mattondo, Davies etc. That's the reality of the situation and greeting and moaning about it ain't going to change it.

Greig Wyper

2012 was awful. But the positive was it only made me love my club more and to cherish every success. Tin hats on now. WATP 💙

James Murdoch

David. Whats your thoughts on the appointment and seemingly firing of Blain McConnell. I dont have Twitter myself but seen a few things online that in his past he has referred to the Rangers support as Huns etc. If this is accurate is it not more glaring evidence (as if we need much more) that this board are just so out of touch and out of their depth.

Andrew Meldrum

My reading of the timing was that this is the 2nd full week of August). But that means C2 is due, and just saying it had arrived would cheer me up a little bit. Hampden isn't even in Scotland's top 10 stadiums for watching a football match.

Scott Dickson

I saw earlier than between the wages across their deals and the transfer fees, Davies, Lawrence and Matondo will cost us circa £24million. We’ll probably never get a transfer fee for them and they’ll all be here until their deals run out, contributing fuck all. That’s utterly mental. We are talking about more on those 3x than the prize money we made for Seville, for effectively a League 1 signing, a player in Liverpools reserves who was a slightly above average EFL Championship defender, and a pacey winger who’s career was heading down the swanny… No wonder we don’t have two pennies to rub together

Scott Duncan

Never forget how grateful we are to you and the H&H team for the content that keeps us sane and is a comfort to us in good times and bad. I barely listen to MSM now!

Spoon

Let’s hope so and an end to the speculative signings, the romance for foreign guys ignoring the domestic market is buzzard and works once in a blue moon. Other issue is in our price range and for this league we are unlikely to get better. Would hope Lovelace could come in and offer something this season. Thought he looked bright before injury, he had also played for Millwall in a league that isn’t easy. Was a shame we brought him in and immediately did that thing where we reverted him to being a ‘kid’. Although I heard elsewhere on a match breakdown he didn’t score every chance he got so maybe the support would just turn on him after a few games. We will stop getting talent to come to us if we don’t offer a genuine pathway.

David Innes

Mental numbers although in fairness Laurence was a good signing on paper - just been badly hampered by injury like so many others

Grant MacLean

Good point re: lowry and comparisons to Barker. Barker got umpteen chances though whereas lowry has only ever had a couple of games here and there. If he can’t get into this current team and improve it then i worry for the boy.

Alastair McGeoch

Denying the away fans is just another way for Celtic to play to the gallery within their support - “look lhads, we gave them another kicking when they are doon - hahaha”.’ We really should be hearing from Bennet both on the Ibrox situation and also what is our position following our exit from Champs League…but we won’t. It may also be the reason we didn’t bite back at Celtic over the away fans - they probably want us to so they can put Bennet on the spot about Ibrox being the venue for the game in December.

Colin Campbell

The Rangers Supporters Association have just released the following statement Following feedback from our member clubs last week the RSA agreed to participate in the Working Group specifically focused on Rangers Supporters Clubs. However as we stated in our update in July we remain hugely concerned about the general running of the club at board, executive level. There is constant reference to standards and what is expected at Rangers, at this moment we are falling way below what is required. It seems that every decision, implementation has some sort of incompetence attached to it. We have no doubt many people at various levels across the club are working hard to address issues, but both they and the wider support demand genuine senior leadership to address the level of mediocrity which seems to have gripped the club. Across the various boards associated with the club, we need all significant shareholders to work together with the Exec Management Team to ensure we have a better path to success than is currently evidenced. There is no clear view of the day to day running of the club, the impacts will clearly be felt with the move to Hampden and our failure to qualify for the Champions League. It is time for our current custodians to deliver, no more blame on others, no more slogan statements and no more ineffective management of our club. We need a clear view and plan of our situation, all senior roles should have dedicated professional managment who can help move us forward and pulling in the one direction. The Rangers support have been the one consistent over our entire history, but in particular over the past 12 years. We will not stand on the sidelines and continue to accept this standard of management and oversight of our great club. Time to deliver.

Grant McNeil

The Lowry situation is worrying for me in the sense that for all the years he’s been at the club no one has been able to find the key to unlock the potential or spark an attitude shift. I also know attitude and application need to come from within but it should have been guided out of him by now. Perhaps another area to add to the list were the youth department aren’t exactly excelling in. Players need to be coming into to the first team not only physically and technically ready but mentally.

Ewan Christie

The way we’re playing we’d have been fucking hammered by Salzburg anyway. That’s said, the 5 odd million would have been nice!

JimGLW

Celtic are at it. But we've given then an absolute open goal for it because we're such a mess. Another problem of our own making and incompetence that allows them to pish over us.

Brian Rae

It was imperative that we got champions league money this season despite what any EPL fanboy on talksport says. Celtic are just giving their hordes further amusement at our expense. No doubt the board will continue to give them ammunition until something gives.

Jamiedfa

Very apt music and lyrics there Davie👍😀

Graeme McLeod

And yet both still achieved more in their careers than anyone currently at the club will.

SC81

I thought social media checks were part and parcel of ANY hiring process these days?

Mervyn wslker

Thanks for your little uplifting message at the end David watp head held high
