Adam & Ally are back for the first show of the new season. The first shows will take a look at each area of the pitch.

First up - the midfield, where they discuss the following:

  • Is Clement an idealist or a pragmatist?

  • Has the current midfield setup changed?

  • What type of midfielders do we have?

  • Man for man out of possession issues

  • The number ten role

Cheers lads, good show. Could you do an analysis on the 4-2-3-1/4-4-2 that's pretty common around Europe atm with it being Clements desired setup? It's not like he builds up, counters and defends with a rigid 4-2-3-1..there's a few systems he uses in and around that. Could you possibly site which teams do it well/what we could aspire to be and why it is seemingly a popular choice. You've covered the characteristics players need to have in it but if you want to go deeper that's grand. Any historical examples of this style would be cool too. Not asking for much ha! Sorry for the long message.

Good show lads. Age apart, it seemed to me that the guy Jordan that we were linked with who is at Seville is very close to the player described by Adam, so it would seem that the management are thinking along similar lines.

Great observations lads. I totally agree with Ally in respect of Dessers lack of physicality. When we finally get a centre forward who can occupy, engage and bully centre backs we’ll be in a much better place. It’s THE major signing priority for me.
