Greg

Your not going to bore us going into detail but wow your going to go into detail on dessers, that's enough for me already. I'll go back to ff and see what supergers07 is saying about the manager.

William Noble

When is the gaffer going to drop Tav ??

Jim McCutcheon

Thanks guys worrying times 🤷‍♂️,

Spoon

Heard the opening and tuned out, bored of the Dessers obsession from some on here. If you genuinely believe one guy is the issue with this team where the board have under invested, manager seems at times clueless and the shape is horrific but it’s ‘big time’ focus on Dessers I despair. To hear some tell it Dessers not being great at hold up or missing a few chances somehow directly relates to the team shipping 3 goals….its like he plays in midfield and defence and ships goals. Not for me gents.

Kev Armstrong

He’s a big part of the issue. Doesn’t get us out. Doesn’t hold up the ball or win fouls. Now it’s not all on him as the manager has decided he’s the number one striker. He’s fine against jobbers but shouldn’t be in for these games.

Latimer

It was blatantly obvious this team needed leadership and he's done hee haw about it. Clueless

Spoon

If thats how you want to see it bud, dont agree I think the bigger problem is that he, like all players has strengths and weaknesses, we for some reason keep putting him out to fail by playing him in a way that negates his strengths and amplifies his weaknesses. I have rarely seen a play so maligned who puts in the level of effort he does and has had the return he has. He absolutely isnt perfect or the answer but people want to blame the guy for missing as if he does it deliberately or he’s a figure of fun, he’s not and he’s miles down the list of players with issues at the club. I am happy to acknowledge any players positives and flaws in a balanced way, to me too many just can’t be objective or realistic on the boy and I am bored senseless of it. We are all hurting and there’s plenty blame to go around, picking on Dessers….again…not for me.

Latimer

Absolutely everything bounced off him yesterday. The theatrics and whining is embarrassing.

Spoon

Did it ? Who would have thought playing up to a guy with no support against the best defence in the league would make it hard to stick the ball up front. I dont think anyone thinks he is a back to goal player, so why would we isolate him and use him as a back to goal player. Seems a bit like being surprised a midget can’t slam dunk. The guy gets hung out to dry and when he does score every goal is rubbish to some.

Luke

Time to drop dessers and start Danilo. Shouldn't be rewarding dessers by starting him when he can't take his chances or even hit a ball hard enough. Lack of build up play is a huge concern also. Getting up the park is hard for rangers just now.

Spoon

Him being the answer or not is miles off the point. Slating one of our own players who delivers more than half the other dross who get free passes week in week out is boring. The digs at one guy are boring and border on a bizarre obsession. Once people have got rid of the boogeymen in Tav and Dessers they will move their focus onto someone else and hound them. We have a low quality squad, board and increasingly it looks like a fundamentalist manager who is inflexible, but yep lets go in hard on Dessers so that when we get rid of him it will all be roses. The answer is to stop playing the same set up that doesnt work, regardless of individual players. We managed to make 11 players look rubbish in one game, thats quite a feat, even Barron who has been a bright spark was ineffective in that set up, lets hope we dont blunt his enthusiasm and drag him into our dirge style too.

William Noble

Tav couldnae tackle a fish supper

Hendi

We did? Igmane and Danilo returned from Injury. We have 3 for same.position.

Scott Watson

It makes us feel better to single one player out. If it's all his fault then fixing it isn't that hard - just sign a Rangers man that hasn't scored yet this season and we'll be rolling in trophies I fear it's not going to be that easy

Spoon

Scott, I do think Shankland would have suited our style better and given a bit of dig but your spot on theres no silver bullet or quick fix.

Derek Stevenson

I got nobody was it. No sympathy for anyone. Barron had a poor game. Running about and energy is a given, and I do like Barron. Diomande had a poor game like Barron but actually won the most duels of anyone on the pitch in blue. Nobody in our squad is willing to step up. Nobody hates Celtic in our squad. They hate us and are willing to do the long hard yards to beat us. They step up continually. We start ok, fail, collapse and shrug the shoulders. On a cycle it is demoralising beyond belief. I’ve been lucky to see us dominate them for years, however on Old Firm games we didn’t dominate them so often.

David Gilhooly

Could Grant please get in to the same Post Code as his Microphone. Sound like Craig.

Alan Weir

You could literally pick any one of yesterday’s 11 and suggest they are “a good example” of the shitshow that is Rangers at the moment. Sterling? The myth of “midfield powerhouse” has been cruelly exposed. He looked cumbersome and sulky. Cerny? Looked every bit as weak as McCausland, a B team player still learning his trade. I wouldn’t have Dessers near a Rangers jersey, but apart from Barron and Butland, the rest of yesterday’s shambles would fall into the same category.

John Hood

Couldn't listen past 8 minutes. Fed up with constant reference to Gerrard. 1 trophy in 3 seasons and has gone on to do nothing. Confident PC will get this right. Squad has barely been together and needs to bond. Celtic are a very good side having been together now for nearly 3 years - accept it. That's me! Bye 👋

Spoon

Alan, in a perverse way thats my point and on this I agree with you bud. I respect you dont rate Dessers and will happily agree to disagree with you on it. What I absolutely can’t be bothered with is the idea it’s all on him. I am not particularly a devotee of the Butland fan club, I think he’s decent but no more than that and we seem as a support desperate to go to extremes with our over hype or under value. The boy spills far too many shots and that long ranger yesterday was criminal. Truth for me is this is a flawed squad thats been put together badly by those in and running the football department. What can also be true is that this is who we have like it or lump it and persisting with a set up and tactics that dont eke the best out of the group is on the coaching team or ultimately the manager. He cannot just keep bemoaning what he wanted or doesnt have he has to now knuckle down, generate a siege mentality and get better from the broken biscuits he has.

Gordon Millar

We simply have to give Clement time to bed this team in and get them believing......This Clement is out his depth narrative is complete nonsense, he's a winner in better leagues than ours but the rebuild he has taken on is root and branch.....FFS recognise the scale of the task, the strength of our opposition and back the manager, we as a support will need new levels of patience for this to work or we find ourselves back at square 1 with a new manager trying to impose his style on a group of players he never bought......that lot play their style and have experience doing it, Grant makes a great point on this........this will take time, it's frustrating as hell but that's our reality!

Delgers

Shite players, with no heart or desire, playing shite. Rinse and repeat unfortunately

Hendi

Having a go at Dessers for not holding the ball up is like having a go at Ally McCoist for not dominating aerial duels and overpowering centre halves. That's not his game, we have a year's worth of evidence of that.

Graeme Glennie

Not trying to have a dig here but I genuinely don't know why it's taken so long for people to understand tav is done. He's been done for a year if not longer, yet people who pointed it out were laughed at and mocked. No one can be surprised at the fan reaction. You might not agree with it, but you cannot be surprised.

George Higgins

The board tried harder because of Gerrard ? Rubbish. Look at the Malmo debacle. And why Gerrard left. It’s clear that Clement has been sold a pup. Pep could not have won the game yesterday with that squad. We do not have the quality

Kev Armstrong

If you aren’t part of the answer then you are part of the problem. If the manager wanted to play this 4231 its was clear we needed a new striker. Said before dessers could be part of the squad but with him as our first pick we win nothing.

Bruce Taylor

Listening but I think the debate is missing a big point. We are only able to afford either end of career experience, start of career inexperience. We need to stop recruiting mid career mediocrity. The big thing we need is coaching that inspires average to above average players to play for each other. Nobody took on their opposite number. The drive to be fit and compete was always a feature in the past, even when we were not beating Celtic. This group need to be educated and driven hard. Tavernier was never ever either a full back or a captain. Getting both right is essential. Greig was the difference to Rangers during very difficult times against a good Celtic. Tavernier has not got that drive or desire.

Bruce Taylor

The coaching staff need to get inside the heads of the squad in a different way. The academy needs to start to produce. There needs to be a college of players who are Scottish who get it! What is means to ge a Ranger. These players largely do not know.

Stephen Fraser

I don't think any manager fixes this immediately, and I think other suggestions of "this was the same as Clement at Monaco" are overly selective. His record in Belgium was exceptional, and I think his early success with the team last season is the reason why he's taking flak. He's just overseen a turnover of something like 12 out, 11 in? We all said he'd need time and yet look what happens when a short period of time passes? The fans lose it, that feeds onto the park and we play our part in how the picture looks. I think it's also fair to agree with the state of the team yesterday. We were completely bested, but didn't do enough to help ourselves. Personally, I think we have to go through the motions, particularly when we're 4 games into a 38 game league season.

Spoon

Kev, absolutely agree. Where some are getting OTT is making him THE problem or suggesting he is incapable. You hit the nail on the head here for me mate, the manger has a jigsaw and the picture on the front doesnt match the pieces he has, he has two choices; solve the puzzle with the pieces he has even if it ends up looking different to what he wanted or force the pieces together to make a mess. To me at the moment he’s in danger of making a mess. We have players who could do a better job than they are currently in my own opinion, if given the right framework and support around them, if the system suited their strengths. That’s what the Smith could do, take bang average stuff and make a functional machine, even when it wasnt pretty. Too many modern managers watch a Pep video and think they need a philosophy more than just fitness and tactics. Week in week out managers with far less nous (allegedly) set up teams that are hard for us to beat, they get players to run and tackle for them, they use far more limited less talented strikers than Dessers to get goals, they set up in banks of 4 and break through a single player or a few key individuals but we seem to think its all on the 9 to just make stuff happen. The guy can be criticised, no player in our squad can’t, but the glee and time we spend on it is disproportionate, in my eyes, to the wider problem. Yes like all he doesnt get pass marks yesterday but I would hate to be our number 9 over the last few years when the team has been set up in a way that doesnt naturally supply or support a traditional striker. I think we could certainly win something with him as the 9 in the right format, ideally with a second striker and thats not something Dessers can control. Throwing balls up to him then getting into a rage when he doesnt trap it and hold off two players is naive to me, if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree your in for disappointment.

Spoon

Devils advocate Gordon, could we maybe at some point just ask a manager to improve and work with what we have instead of buying into a fancy presentation on their style or beliefs. I tend to agree with you overall bud but we can’t just keep brining in guys with different ideas to the last guys or it’s change fatigue for the players. The gaping whole here is what is the Rangers Club style and why arent we asking managers to fit us, maybe if we had a CEO and Head of Football giving that continuity and clear vision it would help. We are in the worst of all places, the point of no return, its as long as road to go back and start again than to see it through.

CRAIG CASSELLS

The coaching staff need a good kick in the balls. That team yesterday did not give the look of a team who spent a week on the training ground preparing for this game. McGregor strolled it again, Maeda roasted Tav again, Jefte's lack of defensive ability was targeted, our CB's looked like rabbits caught in the headlights. This movie has been seen before under Clement, it is as though he hasn't learned from previous OF defeats. I fully understand we cannot keep sacking managers but yesterday was definitely not a day where Clement got the fans on board his project. With difficult away SPFL games at Tannadice Rugby Park and Pittodrie before November I think it is full points or bust. Unless of course Celtic hit a bad patch but the truth is they will probably coast to another Treble.

CRAIG CASSELLS

I've been as big of a fan of Tav, defended him religiously on social media but as they say, time waits for no man. Tav is done, the athleticism that made him such a wonderful attacking fullback has disappeared. Hate to say itbut after every defeat or poor result he is instantly a target of the boo boys which is not a good look. The clean break from the past should have been completed in the summer with Tav moving on. For me, he is a legend but his best days at Ibrox are behind him.

Grant Sneddon

Thanks for bringing it up David. Apologies, don't know what has happened with my mic but will have it sorted for next show

Gordon Millar

I agree with your point on making the best out of what we have and that fundamentally is what the manager is paid to do, my issue is that uncomfortable as it is we must give him time.....I do have reservations on his fundamentalist approach and not learning lessons, but as I said will give him time to get his ideas across....with regards to the club we are in a perilous state and can only hang on to unearthing a real saleable talent or 2 to help us buy better quality, I'd personally start at the back and be harder to beat.......the club is a failing business that lacks leadership in key areas top to bottom but if we take one lesson from that lot it is that stability, consistency of approach (whatever that is) in playing style will bring rewards over time. Bit of a ramble but I tend to agree with your comments, hope this makes sense👍

Ian Cartledge

Agree Kev…..i wish to god the manager would try another formation. Rangers Da here but can we not try 4-4-2. Dessers up top with Igmane or Danilo. And at least Tav might get some protection and we might at least compete in midfield and maybe be able to have the ball stick up top for once.

Bixby Snyder

Propper looked like a schoolboy wearing an extra large shirt. No height, no muscle. I fear even hammer throwers like Main & Vassell could have their day with him.

KAD87

He was captain of the team who finished 3rd in Eredivise last season. He has played about 2.5 games for us and was injured. On top of that he was playing a team who have consistently shown us they have better quality especially when at home. What did you expect?

KAD87

It’s some meltdown everyone is having tbh. What did you all expect? More importantly - what will fix it? Time, money and patience. As a fan group we contribute to almost all of that. Having a meltdown after losing to celtic at celtic park probs not gonna do any favours or change anything.

Bixby Snyder

That’s fair. Small sample size and might not be fit. But with a pedigree like that, I expect him to come in and take the defense by the scruff of the neck. He didn’t pass the Rangers defender eye test for me but hoping he does, and quickly.

KAD87

They gave an extension because they knew the squad wasn’t going to compete immediately. They did it to back the manager before they were questioned. If anyone honestly felt we were gonna compete with Celtic after 4 games of the season then they are deluded. People talking about “a long road back for the manager” doesn’t help. We need to manage our own expectations and be patient. Calling for the manager at this stage is genuinely laughable. We have had a new manager before Christmas in the last three years. IT IS PART OF THE REASON WHY WE ARE IN THIS MESS.

Ian Cartledge

Thanks mate…..just sick of us persisting with 4-3-3 or 4-3-2-1 or whatever it is!! Its been proven over the last 10 years that it doesnt work for us!

KAD87

Yeah fair mate, we are always looking for improvements. Tbh I’m just venting cause I’m fed up with fans going overboard. We aren’t very good right now but need to give everyone time

Andrew Stewart

Tavernier's body language, in the second half especially, was shocking. Few times he looked up to the sky in frustration and jogged back into a nothing position. One time he bumped into Barron and sat in the ground. Defeated. Very poor showing from a senior player. Hes finished.

Bob MacCallum

Re the Kyogo goal, it was a great strike. We don't have ONE player who could shoot like that or even SEE the shot on.

Bob MacCallum

This lack of experience in midfield - we had that with Lundstram, Jack, Kamara. How did that go for us? What the midfield needs is talent, energy, correct mentality ( desire, determination, bravery) plus coaching within a proper structure.

Bixby Snyder

Cheers for the link, Kev. Never has there been more armchair analysis in this sport - access to video, data, tactics pods etc… Supporters are way more clued up now than ever, so you can’t come out and say we were good for 10 minutes and should have been 2 up and the stats were balanced and think that the fans would agree. Yes, it’s heat of the moment, protecting his players, but he used to come out with less patronizing comments than that. We might be dumb Phil but we’re not stupid.

Kev Armstrong

Yeah it’s bad in the heat of the game but when you see it broken down it’s worse. Like I said below dessers isn’t picking himself or picking the role.

Doogz

Same here mate have defended him to the hilt in the face of abuse by some supporters, but it was clear last season he’s lost a yard, and the thing that made him an asset going forward has gone, for his own good he should have gotten a move in the summer.

C. J

The Europa League will be the death of Clement IMO. He’s gonna take some absolute hammerings against Spurs and United, without a doubt. It’ll destroy the already faint morale we have left.

C. J

He has become a disgrace to the badge with his performances.

Craig Fryatt

They tried until the point where they had to get money back and then Malmo happened

Alastair McGeoch

Clement is our Ten Haag. Almost a year in, and it’s hard to see what the tactics and plan for games is - what hope do our average squad of players have? Relying on players way past their best and sticking with a captain who when the going gets tough goes hiding on the pitch. The pressure will grow on Clement, particularly if Aberdeen continue their form, right now the Aberdeen manager has gone in, implemented a style of play and appears to have bought well. Whilst I don’t agree with the abuse shouted at Tavernier and the players after the game I hope it serves as a wake up call to clement and the squad where the fans are. I saw someone else say Gerrard was the last person at Rangers who understood the fans. If Clement is to be a success he needs to do the same quickly.
