Hamza Igamane looked like he has something about him. I hope he turns out to be the real deal.

Douglas Wright

Sick of hearing from King, still has a personal fued with other investors, pulled his funding when he left, is the opposite of a saviour and can't wait till he learns to keep his mouth shut

Douglas Wright

Also got us into more legal issues than he got us out of, Wouldn't trust him with our club

John Smith

Always loved Return of the King ! And you know something, he’s been proven right about the Parks and the other snakes on this board

Steven L

I might have missed it with being out the country. Does anyone know why the season tickets aren’t being used for the cup game and the Europa League? I sit in CF1.

Andy MacArthur

Dave king has had his time. Yes he played a massive part in rescuing the club, and we are forever grateful. However I feel some of the fans look at his tenure through rose tinted glasses. Do we forget the constant statements , the club throwing Lee Wallace under the bus, his desperation to sell his shares. The Hummel deal etc. He got lucky with Gerrard, but that decision was not just down to him. Thanks Dave King but your time has been and gone. We need new fresh leadership and he won’t bring that.

John Smith

But it’s not just about Dave King Andy. It’s about the other investors he wants to bring to the table.

Richard McLuckie

DK is not the answer imo. As you say, too often we look back rather than looking forward. Time to find new ideas and new answers

John Smith

I think John Halsted would be a brilliant chairman but I think Dave coming back to remind our directors exactly how things are done before handing over the reigns would be pretty damn good

Ryan Stewart

There’s 2 things about Dave King. His timing is always absolutely impeccable and he always says exactly what people want to hear Call me cynical, but if he was genuinely interested in coming back wouldn’t he have went directly to the board to discuss it, rather than running to his man in the media Chris Jack? King said himself two weeks there was no interest from anyone in investing in the club. Now he wants to come back there’s interest from Saudi and America? 🤔 His chairmanship was hardly flawless either. Elite deal that we’ve only just settled and cost the club millions in payouts and legal fees to name one blemish

Brian Rae

I'm hearing lots of people saying that King is not the answer etc for a short term solution but what is the alternative? A faceless exec that's been recruited by an outside agency? Not for me. People will all have their opinions but the real enemy still has a seat on the board and what King has been saying in the last few days is spot on. The most glaring thing is "investor fatigue". If that's the case, thanks for your efforts and goodbye because that's a major reason why we are where we are. Like many clubs, to progress, it might take someone who isn't a fan taking over long-term and it must be said that not everyone out there is a Craig White, Charles Green or Mike Ashley.

Robert Atkinson

Dave King’s role in saving the club will always be remembered, but his actions in the retail deal have cost the club between £12 and £20 million (we need to see the settlement payment against Elite). The majority of that money has to be found be Park and Bennett after King had run off into the sunset. Painful though it is, we must maintain the sustainable rebuild that Bennett embarked upon. King would go for short-termism followed by a quick sale.

Graham Roy

Completely agree King is not the answer for now. We need stability and freshness not someone coming in who is trying to sell their shares to the highest bidder! I trust Gilligan to start that process and hopefully appoint new chairman and CEO quickly to start the process.

John Smith

What I would say David is, it seems as if 2012 has made a lot of our directors completely averse to new takeover. But I honestly believe in this day and age you need that to progress. Not all risks pay off but I think it’s either permanent safe mediocrity or take a risk at progressing that might not work out. I’d rather live a day as a lion than a thousand years as a sheep myself.

Stephen

Any chance King might be wanting to come back to attract investment in order to sell the shares he hasn’t been able to sell these last few years?

Craig

If King had any serious intent to reconcile with the other major investors and the board, he wouldn't be making his case through the media.

Graham Jones

I wouldn’t object to him returning. Yes, he made some mistakes, but let’s be honest, he’s put his money where his mouth is over a long association with the club. He has been clears that his job is to raise new investment, and I think he’s right, but that’s only half the job. He needs to find someone to run the club properly. I’ve never bought the idea that Rangers can’t be run sustainably and successfully. There are many examples around Europe where we see how you can be both.

William Mcdonald

Thought it was Friday already with the crappy tunes 🤣

Craig Brown

Almost word for word on my feelings with Dave King David. Things need to change and they need to start changing now. It's a pity that perhaps differences couldn't be set aside for the greater good but seems there are some egos at play. Especially if it's only for the short term. It can't be taken away from most of the board and King that they have put alot of money and energy into reviving us when we were at our lowest point. The same people have totally lost direction and we are suffering for it. They need to get the right people into place quickly and allow them to do their job

Barry

We shouldn't be living within our means whilst in 2nd place or could be stuck there long-term. Need to invest until established in 1st place, then can pull back on investment with higher income from trophies, automatic CL qualification, higher sponsorship, higher player sales etc.

Leslie White

King would like to see USA parasites come in and we have Slugs again 2012+ no thanks. I don’t want to be back on the protest marches against slugs King just wants rid of his shares so long as funds are held in the uk and not in corrupt SA.

Heart and Hand

That’s what got us into trouble in the first place. Secondly, unfortunately, you can’t invest above your means anyway due to FFP. A Saudi prince could give us 200m for players tomorrow and we couldn’t spend it.

Ryan Stewart

Also, on the new investors King wants to bring to the table. Would they be buying other people’s shares, ie his own which he’s wanted to sell for some time? (Again, call me cynical) In which case the money wouldn’t actually be going to the club. Or would they be issuing fresh shares which would then dilute the shares of others? Can’t that only be done from a fresh share issue which would would need agreed at an AGM?

Craig Brown

Of course we need to live within our means but you need a plan, direction and structure and need to spend what money we have wisely. If you don't have the first 3. You don't tend to get the 3rd. We have no CEO and no academy director. Two of the most important jobs at the club right now and we don't have either. It's little wonder everything else is going to pot.

James McSween

I don’t get when the manager says it’s a tough place to go to. Only a couple of our players have played there and it’s a full new Utd team. We shouldn’t be fearing going to any away ground. Suggests a lack of leadership and mentality

Heart and Hand

That’s what I mean - we need structure and talent in key roles. But Rangers will need to live within our means for the foreseeable future. It’s up to the people in charge to grow those means as opposed to providing them.

David Campbell

What would be the point in king putting people in charge if we are getting fresh investment. Surely these new investors will want to put there own people in place. The next few years are clearly going to be very difficult and we just need to get through this. I can't deny tho am worried about the future.

John leitch

Dave King will always be thanked for what he did for the club in our darkest times However He has had shares for sale for a couple of years without a buyer He holds a considerable percentage We have to be careful his interest doesn’t go to the wrong hands Also change of share ownership doesn’t mean money comes back into the club

Ecky G

The man who would be King more like. I see so many I think, I believe, he might, he could, I would imagine. People grasping at straws, all I can see is the usual division tactics by DK to get people on side. The short term solution to achieve his sole aim to get shot of his shares to whoever and then sidle away exit stage left.

Colin Mathie

Your musical choices are definitely improving David, great tune!

James Anderson

The fact that someone new coming in could be brilliant and they could set the heather on fire however, the opposite could be the case, I shudder at the thought of another Craig White. With the club the way it is at present, I think its better with a known steady hand at the helm for two years.

Rona Bluebell

Would just like some stability and growth structure with vision. A plan and one which includes us and the role we can play. We all want the same outcome. 🏆🏆🏆

Arran Anders

Cheers for the shoutout David!

8luenose1872

I would like Park to sell his stake in the club tbh, im not a fan of his and think hes more of a hindrance.

Barry

True, definately hamstrung by cap on wages/transfers etc. Would like to see any new investors to front-load investment over 2-3 years though, as clubs still able to cover losses under FFP of €60m across three years or €90m if the clubs are judged to be in good financial health, and infrastructure, training facilities and youth development not included under FFP. Personally, with the ST waiting list, I would be pushing to get these bums on seats by filling the corners of the stadium (would be sceptical of club doing this on time again though!) to increase the turnover, to then be able to spend more on players. We really need to start producing more players also, so would like to see big investment in that too!

Stevie park

King may or not be the man to turn our fortunes around, but the policies of the present board( whatever they are) keep us from getting to the top of the pile. Celtic are not just going to wait for a year or two for us to recover then roll over and let us take their position, it happened in 2021, I doubt it happens again . We need major investment, fpp places restrictions on our ability to sign players so we need to increase our income. Maybe controversial after this years shambles but we must greatly increase the stadium capacity. Upwards of 60,000 would be the starter. A settled figure of 66,000 would be tremendous for so many reasons. The greater our income the greater our potential spend on players. We need to keep growing and stop the regression of the last few years.

Ryan McMillan

Weird how much King criticised the commercial aspect of the club, which seems like it’s the strongest it’s been in decades. I’d argue it’s the only area we’ve shown consistent success in.

David Innes

Overtaking them in this way would be a long term project (5 years minimum) - I just don’t think enough of our supporters have the patience for it. Having a 60k seater stadium that locks in a significant commercial advantage over us every season is a major factor in why they are so far ahead of us now

David Gardner

Question for David or any patrons - why have the club not activated smart cards for the Europa league games this season? Seems bizarre

Tommy

I think we’re well within FFP rules. The likes of Edmiston House + Copland development are infrastructure costs. I don’t think that’s an immediate issue. However I agree with your point, there’s no magic way out of this. We just need to be run properly at every level

Tommy

King has been trying to sell his shares for a few years. This remains his priority above all else. I’m sure he’s got good intentions but he’s not here to be chairman (you don’t bad mouth the board and expect them to appoint you) he’s throwing stones to put pressure on Parks to sell up, conscious a bigger block of shares is more attractive to external parties

Spoon

Can’t see King coming back and streamlining the already too cluttered mechanisms of doing club business. The other shareholders wouldn’t surrender the kind of power he would want or need. While everything is done by this autonomous collective we will struggle. We can’t have an absentee chairman who spends half his time abroad, they need some here in situ making and being present for the big decisions. I don’t mind Dave King and I am grateful to him but don’t want him back in charge regardless of how appealing his Hank Scorpio type nonsense might be for a bit.

Martin Sutherland

This. Others have been guilty of this as well. Losers behind the scenes advising. The biggest issue we have is appointing managers who are pragmatic and play the opposition.

Spoon

Always been a fan of the autonomous collective to be fair, although farcical aquatic rituals form no basis for government.

chris smith

Catching up a day late, but TUNE! ;-)

Apropos the daily tale, I recall the hype about Celtic’s youth products - Burchill the new Michael Owen, Simon Donnelly the new Kenny Dalglish, Steve Fulton the he new Roberto Baggio - all trumpeted by their fawning lapdogs in the SMSM. Our youth system has been compared unfavourably to their’s but if you look at the career paths of each club’s products there is often not much difference.
