Good to hear the sage being serious and keeping us level headed, his usual gig now is providing hilarity on a Friday morning. He’s good at both we all need more McGowan at the moment 😊

John Smith

Donald & Elon as co owners would be the ultimate dream but the least we could do is bring back Sir Dave

JimGLW

I'm not sure it is possible to think we could have something special from this. But I admire the optimism...

Russ

Brilliant lads, cheers. The age of the team is a valid point - we were far too slow and old in recent seasons. Look at how Madrid have gone young and reaped the benefits! Also just on the Arsenal comparison - if there's one aspect of their play I'd like us to incorporate it's their desire and work ethic OOP. The way they get back into shape after losing the ball is phenomenal tbh.

Jim McCutcheon

Thanks David & Andy good listen again guys 👏

Absolutely, I was so impressed yesterday by that. They clearly do the boring shape work in training. Contrast with Man Itd who obviously don’t.

Russell McGhee

The reason it's being played out in public is the resistance he'll face from the current directors. He has no option but to play the public game. He'll galvanise the support and that will be a powerful force for change.

See Chris Jack reporting key investors committed to their shareholding and funding plans . Dave king on the surface is being blocked . The funding plans from the key investors is extremely modest short term loans . How is the club , escaping from the quagmire these individuals have created? We won’t have appropriate transfer funds , to compete , without significant investment . I have asked this previously . The personal wealth of the Rangers investors , presently doesn’t benefit non FFP expenditure for the club. So a “ Rangers investor” could be making £10 billion a month in their own businesses , it doesn’t benefit Rangers football club at all. The sponsorship generated by this board is paltry . So the business insight they used to galvanise their personal wealth , is not transferable to a successful Rangers. This present board doesn’t communicate, with the supporters, and seem more interested in maximising record profits for their business portfolios. The Rangers will remain risk averse , and we will struggle to win trophies . But , hey we have Rangers men running club .

Hendi

Some decent rational analysis. Too many fans are being taken in by Kris Boyd's ramblings about "Rangers football club are not a project, they need to win games". We mostly all accept that we won't win the league this season. So just "winning games" doesn't really mean that much. It's short termism and largely irrelevant in the grand scheme of things (does it really matter whether its 6 points or 12 points behind them we finish?) What does matter is being financially sustainable, and building a younger, dynamic side with potential for growth and generating future income. There are signs that we are getting that. As for performances, look back at Fat Ange's side when he took over. Even in October and November they were only playing well in 20-30 min spells.

To be honest, there are as many who don't want him back as do so I'm not sure that will work. I don't think coming back is his endgame.

David Innes

Totally agree with Andy - it is better the devil we know and anyone even entertaining the idea of a US investor led takeover has clearly not learned the lessons of our recent history

David Simpson

Great show - as always. One wee extra plus about finally getting back to Ibrox, for most of us, it will be the chance fo finally see the Walter statue in real life!

Graeme

Excellent content gents.

Martin Boyd

Thanks boys excellent pod , more Andy please.

Graham Roy

That’s why I am surprised so many fans want him back?! He has said he wants to sell his shares so let’s say he comes back and then in November he sells them!

Steve Clark

Andy was spot on again in his analysis of the board.

Graeme Glennie

Great pod guys but I knew that it was coming. The slight nod to the rangers support being the cause of Bennetts health. I'm sorry but that is an absolute nonsense. You cannot consistently make mistakes for 2, 3 years (which has been consistently talked about on this podcast) and not expect a blowback like we have had. And I'm pretty confident no one is going to protest or voice there anger in the hope of wanting someone to fall ill. Supporters can absolutely try to show more patience on certain matters, and I put myself in this category, but there's absolutely no question the board deserve an anger put towards them for the way they have handled most things.

Angus Mackay

Fantastic pod. Word perfect contribution, Andy, especially on Bennett and the need for patience as exciting young players develop. Top listening, thanks guys. Also, if the Brighton guy wants into Scottish football, should we not be talking to him?

Angus Mackay

People have a right to criticise, that’s fair enough as long as it’s constructive and reasonable. But for me at least this summer’s criticism of a man who actually helped save our club in the recent past was miles over the top at times.

Graeme Glennie

This summer could arguably be the biggest problems he has given himself. The nonsense with the stadium, our inability to recruit football intelligent people within the club which results in shambolic results we have had since July and our inability to act fast and be ahead of the problem with staff replacement and players. Morons posting on twitter horrible things is ridiculous as we know, but it is not equivalent to the anger at ibrox where people are absolutely done with mistakes being made consistently which lead to us becoming embarrassed in old firms consistently. I wish him all the best on his recovery, but for anyone naive enough to think this wasn't coming and doesn't have some justification is either lying to themselves or are deluded.

Andy McGowan

I think there needs to be a maturity from sections of the support to allow us any chance of recovering ground. Bennett has done far more good than bad and remains pivotal to our financial good health and there were elements intent on chasing him. He had been chairman for just over a year and for all we know may end up the man directly responsible for correcting our operating loss year on year and initiating a Koppen led revival of our recruitment. Patience is low, but there is a need for emotion to be trumped by logic at times. And part of that logic is balance, tempered criticism and not making key roles at our club impossible to succeed. Ask not what your club can do for you, but what you can do for your club 😁

Ricky

Thanks guys, great pod.

Angus Mackay

💯, Andy. Not only is patience low, but understanding of what’s required to actually build sustainable success is scarce too. It’s suffocating at times.

Jamiedfa

Good flagship, spot on with all said and done and good to hear Andy after a victory 😁

Paul McCabe

Andy, I live in that wee area beside the ground and how the hell do you miss the massive signs at all the entry and exit points 😂

KMc

King is exactly what we need at the moment, even if it is short term imo.
