Really interesting listen. It sounds like there is a real chance we don’t have Euro football after August unless we get through the qualifiers over next few years. Reinforced what we all know - the Malmo result and then not creating a gap with them the following season when they had an awful start and then Gerrard left were huge turning points - 2 years of Champions league money would have been transformational

We have been unbelievably unlucky since Gerrard arrived with not reaping the rewards from our European successes while our rivals pretty much directly have reaped these rewards. The news on the money split for UK teams in CL vs EL this year another kick in the teeth. We need to get back to winning the league regularly.

Seems to me that the new format is being dressed up as more like a "true league" but it's really skewing towards the lottery of a cup draw Say there are 2 teams in pot 4 that are absolutely honking and everyone smashes them, and another 2 teams from pot 4 that do pretty well If you are lucky and get the honkers, you're almost qualified but if you are unlucky, you're right up against it straight away Group stages are also limited - some groups can be much tougher than others - but at least all the teams competing against each other have the same fixtures Sounds a bit like we are on the precipice of a dark age for Scottish teams in europe

This makes the way we went into the season and lack of early business or investment mind boggling. It’s a dereliction to have not had a squad and players fit and ready for the CL qualifiers simply to tap into the cash on offer.

An interesting and depressing analysis in equal measure. I think we need to put patriotism before partisanship now, however hard that may be. That said, with the Yahoos looking certain to win the league this year, it is a relief they won’t have automatic qualification next year. Am I being hypocritical? If so, guilty as charged!
