If I’m honest, I’m slightly disappointed that we’re continuing with a gambling sponsor - I guess it’s maybe a last hurrah before legislation will block it?

Daniel Ward

What are the targets the club have to hit to get the bonuses?

Russ

I reckon we'll look back in 10 years at this era of betting sponsorship for football clubs and cringe. Still, pleased that we're starting to charge top dollar!

Russ

Also just on the FFP shout, I think it'll be the squad cost ratio that we'll be working with. Might be wrong but it'll be 60% of revenue? Every penny counts.

John Smith

Not a fan of partnering with gambling companies. Poor form.

Peter Hosie

Dependent on targets does that mean we need 2 million shirts sales and make the CL Final otherwise we get two balloons and a lucky bag 😂

Russ

Last one, when you mention the fan base and our passion - would the board go after a similar % increase for the next kit deal guaranteed or would you be tempted to take a lower guarantee but higher royalties/commission (idk if that's the right wording, basically a more incentivised deal through what we shift) ?. I'd always be conservative with that type of thing and we need the security but we are unique in that we do do huge sales.

Russ

Or even something like how many viewers we get on a match day, we get 100's of thousands..surely we could leverage that in the deal? Interesting stuff tbf.

Rose Mcloughlin

I have met Rangers fans all over the world...and we greet each other like life long pals..best feeling in the world...funniest one was in Barbados..diving with turtles..the guy pulls on his rangers top afterwards me with the biggest grin...then we discovered we were in the same stand at Ibrox....small world 💙

David Campbell

Enjoying this September heatwave cracking weather. Will be missing this game on Saturday down at Wembley for the boxing instead 👍

Gregor Anderson

80% increase on the current deal!!! How bad was the original deal if that is the increase?

David Clapperton

Well done young Stallion McCallion. Another young Ayrshire bluenose making his way for the Gers. Good luck young man. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Graham Roy

I don’t think we will after all we play in a league sponsored by a betting company. I don’t cringe at the thought we were sponsored by alcohol firms. What I would cringe at is if we were the same as our rivals at one point and had to use tape to cover up a sponsor on your shirt!

Russ

Sorry Graham but I disagree mate. Pointing at a rival and saying 'rather us than them' isn't an excuse for moral ambiguity. Tobacco ads died out, then alcohol sponsors and now so will betting sponsorships. I'm just surprised it's still happening. I'm also a filthy hypocrite and am pleased to take the money! Flash some money or success our way and fans will gladly turn a blind eye. It's still not good though imo.

Russ

I think Maguire said the previous one was on a par with a lower EPL side.

Gregor Anderson

I guess the Devil is in the detail seems like a massive increase. I was thinking we must of been on a low deal due to our historic issues similar to the kit deal. Thanks for the reply Russ 👍

Niall MacKay

Is the revenue from shirt sponsorship amortised in terms of FFP? This seems like a right big step forward for us. Wondered if Those Pretty Wrongs/Big Star song would appear today.

Niall MacKay

Are they support? Fuck sake, I was going to can it tonight as all my usual gig goers have gone on holiday. Might just have to go now.

David Kiltie

The annual sponsorship will be part of revenue so this will lift the upper limit of player costs (wages plus amortization) which is 70% of annual revenue, so more wiggle room for the manager. Good news along with the Elior deal. Add to that two major pieces of nonsense now put to bed with the Elite deal settled and our return to Ibrox this weekend. Whisper it but things seem to be looking up for our club 😀.

stefan strzelecki

Glad to hear the club are delivering on sponsorship. Does anyone recall the actual monetary figures we accrued from the last deal? So that we can get a better understanding of the progress being made.

Alan Waugh

Massive backwards step not updating smart cards for these matches! Any idea on a reason why David?

Richard Callanan

Little late in the day, I’m stuck at work and have a spare Dundee ticket in the Sandy Jardine rear. First come first serve, just donate a £10 to the Rangers Charity Foundation if you can, I’ll not check.

Graham Jones

Gambling bankrolls football so I doubt it’ll happen. I’m not sure what level this ban is being sought, but it seems like something that is preferable from an image point of view, but is simply impractical in reality. Football had this whole thing with alcohol as well at one point, so it’s nothing new. Let’s face it, if escort agencies were willing to pay more to football the clubs would be more than willing to advertise prostitution on the front of the shirts.

stefan strzelecki

Previous deal £1.5 million. New deal £2.7 then , perhaps rising to £3 million a year , with conditions being achieved.

Iain McHolm

I work with McCallions old youth coach says he is a real talent and actually has his head screwed on

Iain McHolm

Could it be we are moving away from smart cards and your season ticket will eventually be a QR code?

Owen Scott

Just catching up with the updates. Gambling sponsorship gets unjust criticism in my opinion, well those from reputable and mainstream companies. I've seen the changes and progress these companies have made on Safer Gambling over last 20 odd years.
