Hoggy is back to discuss your views on a quiet week in Planet Rangers...... with the Patron's focus being very much in the here and now.

A win at Tannadice followed by more boardroom news with John Bennett standing down due for health reasons, then Dave King entering via the media.

And, of course, back to Ibrox on Saturday.

If you want to get in touch, hoggy@heartandhand.co.uk.

Looking forward to listening to this by the pool in a wee while, Hoggy! A cool 33 degrees in Sharm El-Sheikh this morning! 😎

I feel for both camps in the Dave King issue... but feel whenever we are trying to stabilse the club thats when DK raises his head...we need to move on..if we went with DK then what happens in 2 yrs when he wants to leave....and are we getting pulled into his never ending fight with the Ibrox Board...will us fans ever get to know what truly hapoens at the club.

Apropos the post 55 malaise, I don’t think the board were guilty of complacency. We had pushed the boat out financially to achieve 55 and were hitting the limits in terms of FFP, so a major spend after 55 depended on major sales, which Gerrard vetoed (as I understand it). The club in summer/autumn 2021 had a rights issue, entered new commercial partnerships, relaid the Ibrox pitch, upgraded facilities at Auchenhowie, added to the back room team, negotiated loan deals and contract extensions and secured the B team’s place in the Lowland League. There have been mistakes in abundance over the last year 3 but the specific criticism of a club resting on its laurels after 55 I don’t think is fair. The filth were a binfire in the 55 season, but Postecoglou was given a huge budget to rebuild the team. Our own Craig Moore warned against dismissing this “rotund Aussie bloke” - he had shown ability as a manager in Australia and Japan. Once his players got used to his system they were, sad to say, a powerful force. Remember that on the park from August till Gerrard’s departure we were hardly sparkling - 3 draws at Ibrox, defeat at Tannadice, papped out of CL qualifiers by Malmo, scraped past Aleshkert, lost first 2 Europa League group games. Time now to fill the key vacancies in the club. The trickledown theory in economics is much derided, but a cliche which is true - a fish rots from its head. Getting our club on the right path at executive level is vital if we want a successful team on the park. End of rant.

Great pod as always mate 👍🏻 regarding the city group I would like money and access to players but would struggle with being a minor asset within that pyramid. Ultimately if we were winning things I doubt many would complain. I fear we are trying to walk before crawling, we need CEO in place and then the rest of board formed. A period of time has to pass to allow them to do their work before we see results.

Great points Hoggy , as ever on the strategy , recruitment of executive personnel to deliver on the potential for growth within our club. It seems there is a great big melting pot of commercial opportunity out there, that a great many supporters assumed was being investigated , by our executive owners . The fact we as a support, keep having to recalibrate the post designation to revenue failings to them, is due to their incompetence at running the club. Perhaps Dave King has been listening to the hamper . Is there anyway you would consider making contact with him, should he succeed ? If not, Perhaps, could David organise a meeting John Gilligan? I’m sure the club requires an honest professional appraisal of the strategic decisions required , to get us out of this mess . On the subject of Dave King , I think the present board seem content to keep emptying the boat from water, rather than leave the boat , and move into a safe commercial cruise ship , out of fear being bitten by sharks . They are risk averse , and damaging the club for it. In order, to take on the scum , we need as much cash as our club can attract . Perhaps king listened to Ibroxonia , and has decided to leave his mark on the world , by not just safeguarding his wealth, but, the club that means everything to him and us.

I said this under another post here but Saudi investment is boycott territory for me. We have enough political nonsense around the club without inviting soft power sportswashing exercises from petrostates.

I am going to have a rant but thank you Hoggy! You have hurt the nail in the head with the corporate governance begin the biggest issue at the club causing the club to be completely dysfunctional. Fundamentally the club is still ran like it's the 90s and 2000s. We are an organisation, a for profit business. You have reviewed the issues at the top level but think about it at the lower levels. I work in analytics in a business, I have been told rangers have 5-10 members of staff (this could be nonsense but I could believe it) who are work in a analytics capacity. At salaries below market. Compare this to Brentford. They have an analytics team of over 30+ plus members of staff covering a wide range of different expertise. The roles range from analysts to data scientists to data engineers. Ofcourse the club can't scout for shit compared to other clubs . We can't compete with clubs in terms of player recruitment, so we need to maximise our corporate structure and internal staff to ensure we can be as efficient as possible when it comes to recruitment and spotting players, the academy and training since it's literally the cheapest way we can make gains

Great listen but I despair at what has happened to our Club. Dave King wants his money back first and foremost. So far he hasn’t found a buyer so how will him coming back change that. He could bring investment to the table without being chairman. Usual shit stirring. We need the executive sorted pronto then we can start to tackle the other many issues.

Thanks for answering my question Hoggy. Appreciate you don’t know about Copland rear but hopefully it will be next Sunday. I Wii enjoy today for sure 💙❤️🤍

Kirk Guthrie

Thanks Hoggy, that was the exact reaction I was hoping for 😂😂 always enjoy the hamper

Tom

You being made the chairman would be a lolfest! The Scottish Government would need to set up a national summit to appease the perpetually offended though.

Barry Kerr

That comment about the current people being like the spivs is absolute nonsense. On the whole King argument and what happened after 55 is just him trying to continue his issues with the Parks in public. Financial results since then tell you why we didn't kick on and yes the current board have made mistakes along the way but to compare them to the spivs is as I say absolute nonsense. Last time King was chairman he couldn't commit to the role and Stewart Robertson ran the day to day activity of the club. He wants back in without providing the investment himself and it's simply not going to happen wish he would just go away.

Barry Kerr

On the Euro squads front the most you can register from other clubs in Scotland is 4 any others need added to the 17 that don't meet the criteria. The club trained you can have upto 8 players over the age of 21 without the need to add nation trained from other clubs etc. The clubs problem is bringing or giving the talented youngsters at that stage an opportunity in recent times we've had the likes of Josh McPake, Kai Kennedy and Stephen Kelly as examples who just didn't make it through either not being good enough or having the correct attitude. We're now close to that stage again like Lowry, Devine and McCausland who are all criteria met next season. The club has to get better at bringing younger players through means less reliance on the Scottish market as well.

We should put together a consortium Hoggy
