You just know we are going to stuff this up … and you just know that there will be absolutely no consequences …

John Smith

Is Popescu a player we should be looking at bringing to the club ?

Simon H&H

Please no Cyriel Dessers tomorrow. Just a nothing player

David MacT

Can someone break down the guts of £30million comment?

Stewart Robertson

This is going to be (another) tough listen.......

John Smith

Want to throw a couple of names your way. Kjetil Knutsen, that’s an obvious one. But also Eirik Horneland, really really good manager

David MacT

I really like the preview but please, please, please stop using Follow Follow as a source. Its literally wall to wall of absolute idiots.

Vanb bryceter

Well the comments so far are a joy just like the cesspit thats follow follow. Dessert will play get over it. Clement needs to show some form of clear thinking and actual tactical astuteness tuned to our opponents. Unfortunately I fear another doing of Leon proportions if not ill be delighted and astounded in equal measure. We live in hope that a corner is about to be turned

Alastair Thomson Mills

I agree with every word guys. On a side note? Alex Rae should be no where near rangers . Mcinnis probably best bet at this time. stop buying second rate foreign players we should have went for shankland last year . Lennon Miller also and that would help . When I watch Celtic I seeI a pattern of play a plan but when I watch us I see a mess its hit it up to that chocolate tea pot dessers and hope something happens . Celtic play possession based game move ball look for gaps ect I don't get that at rangers. This season is gone might as well give it to someone who gets our game. I now wish we had kept Gio as he would have got a good team by now

Jamiedfa

Great show , my favourite on H&H Kev and Steven are legends!

James McSween

Only point I don’t agree on is adapting to other SPFL teams. We should have a team more physical and skillfull than nearly every team. Our players should know that every game we play is a cup final and should be ready for it from get go. But unfortunately we don’t at present. I’ve said numerous times this rebuild won’t start until Tavernier is removed from the squad.

Spoon

The idea the midfield don’t run because of another player is a joke and reflects on them not Dessers. The obsession with one guy as he is the bogeyman prevents honest critique of the wider issues. We all know what Dessers can’t do, so the manger and team need to stop asking him to do it. The idea that anyone on that team can take the huff with a player and not pass or play around them is farcical and speaks to the utter lack of leadership or desire. We have absolutely nobody in that team who is in a position to criticise others or decide not to run because they are petulant. Terrible take. The hatred some have for Dessers is blinding them to the far far wider issues. Igmane could have won the game but screwed a great chance wide….its ok though as he isn’t Dessers. If Dessers isn’t doing exactly what the manager says then I can’t believe he stays on, if he is doing what the manager wants then blame the guy for not brining out the best in a player. The point I do agree with is the lack of buying a proper striker, We should have bought Shankland and paid the money to get a proven physical forward. More importantly we should have gone to 352 or 442 as this system is setting us up to fail. It doesn’t work in Scotland and it won’t ever work regardless of who he plans or buys as the level of quality needed to make it work is beyond our budget. This is 100% on the manager now, too many guys have come here, started well and been dumbed down by our coaching or tactics. If you want to obsess on Dessers why when he goes off does nothing change, your letting the other 10 off with being similarly gash to create a bogeyman.

Heart and Hand

No, it IS an issue. They don't run on because he can't hold it and if they do run on they will leave a big gap when the opposition inevitably win the ball back. So it's not because they don't want to, they just know there is no point. Also Igamane would have provided an equaliser, not the winner. Your defence of him is now entering theoretical levels rather than actuality mate. I'm afraid we can all see the emperor is in the buff, it's not everyone is wrong and you aren't I'm afraid.

Latimer

Tav fan boys have pitched their tents on Dessers lawn now 😩

Ian w

Regarding the manager, he has been talking nonsense since things went tits up last season. The week after the draw at Dens park he said our XG was higher than Celtic, who won at Dens, but they scored the chances. After that stopped listening to him, comes across as a bullshitter.

Ian w

We have too many players who aren't interested in games at Rugby Park, Dens Park etc. You look at Tom Lawrence, he wasn't bothering his arse same as Tav and Dessers. I've always said Scottish football always brings you down once the honeymoon period is over and especially in the situation we are in regarding the supports thoughts on the players.

jamey Carruthers

See if Alex wants to call it a transitional season? Tell him to come on and point to where we’ve improved and where the signs are of improvement. Because the stats say we’re getting worse and regressing. So id love to know what he can see that everybody else can’t.

Hendi

The wage bill, the age of the squad, the potential resale value of players within the squad.

Spoon

Utterly misses the point. A professional football team in the huff with a player is untenable and speaks to madness. I’m not defending Dessers I’m saying the idea you take him out and it’s all sorted is a myth. With the best will in the world you can take him out tomorrow and zero changes bar the fans will get on Igmanes back, a guy who looks like a cart horse but benefits from simply not being Dessers. There are probably still guys talking about when Danilo get fit how how will be the answer or hoping Roofe or Kent might come back. We have had an absolute shit show of dire strikers over the last ten years. You can slate Dessers on here every week and it misses the wider point, that’s my view and to be honest I’m not looking for permission to hold it. The actuality is we have a £6m striker who hasn’t played more than an handful of games and when he hasn’t his numbers are bang average and the other option is a lumbering semipro who needs babied at 21 despite costing us £2m. If folk want to have a go at me for pointing out the obvious that Dessers isn’t the issue here so be it. He isn’t good enough but in our position swappping him out doesn’t solve the far more deep rooted wider issues. Nothing theoretical here, the new truth people don’t run now because he might lose it is the wildest theory I have heard but I’m sure it will be group think soon enough. Have players been saying that ? If they have they should be sacked? What next don’t go forward as the defence will ship a goal ? Don’t cross in case the team break, ridiculous comments.

Heart and Hand

No need to be defensive, nobody is questioning your right to hold that opinion, just that they disagree with it. If you think it's a wild theory, with respect, you are refusing to acknowledge reality. Ex-players are saying it, coaches are saying it. Football these days is a highly tactical game with off the ball work vital. If players run out of their position it creates a gap other teams can expose. It's a basic tenet of modern football. Now, it's risk v reward and obviously you have to pick your moment properly. The others in the team are weighing it up and deciding - correctly - it's not worth it as he won't hold it. Also, there you are getting stuck in to Igamane, a youngster with few minutes, to defend Dessers. That's as unfair as you say criticism of Dessers is.

Spoon

Professional players do hard yards, our prima donnas deciding when to run or if to do their job is the start of a mutiny and never flies for me. I have zero time for player power; I detest the same mentality that got Gio emptied and then their mate Beale when they used him to deflect from their own deficiency. Not for me bud, players do their own work then look to others and ask them why their aren’t doing theirs. Suggesting I am defending Dessers is just miles off, my critique is with the set up and squad no more no less. I am saying that putting all the focus on a person and playing the man in a flawed role is wrong. There’s nothing theoretical in that. Said it many times no lone striker shines in our setup, the wingers are poor including the much vaunted, in some quarters McAusland, who is miles off the level required. The attack is powderpuff across the front 6 and midfield is becoming raggged. Every one of the squad now has a sob story but most pods spend about 30 minutes slating dessers as if he is the root of all ills, he’s not he’s just a bang average striker in a rubbish team with poor coaching: Dessers like the first 11 in this system aren’t performing, even those who started with a bit of buzz are being dragged down, it’s systemic not individual.

Heart and Hand

I don't disagree with that at all, and I enjoy your posts. I just think you feel Dessers gets unfairly blamed by other fans and it sometimes leads you to go too far the other way. McCausland - and by the way, I haven't seen him vaunted - is a youth product who cost nothing and is only in the team because there are no other options. Dessers cost 4.5m and is supposed to be a key player. It's logical he'll get more criticism. If Danilo has a poor month, he'll get it too. It's just reality.

Campbell Maclennan

I genuinely can't get my head around a manager who came in and seemed to fix so many problems from October to March. However, Aril, May, Aug, Sep and now Oct, a complete bin fire. The one thing I don't know is to what level was he bcked in the summer. On deadline day I felt we needed a CB, a 6, a winger, an AM, a RB and a new striker (even on loan). Out of those 6 positions we got an AM and a back up RB. The squad is so far away from where it needs to be, and until the 1 out 1 in policy is in place I don't see what a new manger at this stage does, apart from eating up more money we don't have. Don't get me wrong if it doesn't change there's only 1 outcome.

Hendi

If he's here to build in long term sustainability then it's critical.

Hendi

I never said any had a "high" resale value. But they do have a resale value, unlike all those that walked away in the summer, or we had to subsidise to leave.

Spoon

I appreciate that and apologise if my response seemed touchy perhaps it’s being called a fan boy! I do feel the weight of critique he gets is unfair but I don’t dispute the substance of it, he isn’t good enough at our level. My issue isn’t the rightful criticism he attracts it’s that for some it lets others off the hook and the reality of our squad is he has to play for the foreseeable future, the set up by pure logic must change or we are blindly just doing what we know doesn’t work. I do rail at the any one but….crowd as to me as others have mentioned it’s about the sum of our parts, the way those parts are laid out and used much more than individuals. If we had a CR7 then you put all the expectation on one guy and the rest are a supporting cast we don’t have that we need industry and togetherness. I will say it again bud, Dessers cannot be our striker long term in this set up he isn’t good enough, but I cannot accept that a professional player gets to do another’s legs by not doing their own job or not putting in the hard yards, that’s not on and if it’s happening it has to stop. I’m not convinced we had an abundance of runners at any point recently and seem to remember Gerrard talking about needing more of that when he was here. No harm no foul, I also enjoy the chat, don’t like being misrepresented though and certainly not defending Dessers beyond the limits of reason simply putting the argument that he isn’t available tomorrow for whatever reason what changes ? In this set up, with these tactics and wider squad issues not a lot for me.

WILLIAM JACK

Just about to listen to the pod, but the point about rebuilds and transitional seasons is that they don't tend to follow straight line progression. There will be bumps along the way. This is the real world not a computer game. Not saying PC will last but whether he does or not these kind of dips were always likely given what he inherited and the bin fire behind the scenes.

Heart and Hand

As we said in flagship, he’s being asked to do things he’s not good at which is exposing his flaws rather than highlighting his strengths. That’s not on him, it’s on the manager. I’d be sticking a partner up there with him to spread the load.

Simon H&H

Cold light of day, this isn’t really a rebuild. Thats an excuse Clement has trotted out to cover his failings. It is a downsizing however I will say that. A rebuild with the type of players we are recruiting, Cerny, Propper etc can’t be taken serious in my view as they’ve no long term future at the club. There’s an argument he’s been dealt a bad hand, but he went and spent money in different areas than needed addressing such as centre forward. Thats all on him.

Spoon

Which I totally agree with and he does absolutely have flaws, can’t get with guys not doing the work around him though regardless of the end result. Huge part of our issues is players not being positive, not expecting or anticipating opportunities to come and being negative in play, runs or passing. The individual players must do their part and expect the rest of the team pull their own weight or to come up to the required level they don’t get to phone it in or use others performance as an excuse not do their bit. That was drilled into me at a young age in the army and has been the cornerstone of my working life since, so your job first and foremost then ask others if they are performing. He shouldn’t, but if we accept he does need more chances to score than some then while he is here we need to try and make them, I can’t have the excuse that we aren’t bothering as he might not hold up or miss a strike. Despite his flaws his lay off play when on his game is good if people go beyond or run the flanks, he won’t ever be the answer but he does have strengths that we could at least try and use while our options are limited and the manager won’t change shape. Like others I’m frustrated David but where I might disagree is with how long and how deep rooted the issues are, it’s beyond individuals for me. I I see the latest focus on small elements as papering over the much bigger cracks and it is annoying to see the same mistakes being repeated again and again chasing a vision that I don’t even believe will work. Let’s hope I’m totally wrong. We signs striker and it’s all fixed, can’t see it though.

Jim McCutcheon

Thanks again guys another great listen, I personally agree 💯 with the universal views on the pod , the fans are on the edge if not over, this can't go on imo 🤦‍♂️

David MacT

That is an utterly mental take. Are you for real? You think the age and wages of players doesn't have an affect on the overall quality of a squad the manager has at his disposal?

Angus Mackay

Inflation is mental, last week people were saying £20m, which I still can’t get close to when I add up the publicised numbers and generally accepted guesses.

John Davidson

No need for the hyperbole - we were shite but to say 'we dragged Kilmarnock down to our level' is demonstrable nonsense that makes me want to stop listening.

David MacT

I was trying to quickly work it out earlier. Diomande £4mil, Propper £1.5mil, Igamane £1.5mil, Jefte £800k, Bjarami £3.5mil and the loan fees for Cerny and Kasanwijro say another £1.5mil. That's a spend of about £12.5mil. Absolutely no idea where the guts of £30mil comes from.

Hendi

If everyone he brought in was a youngster and nobody with any experience (proper/cerny) was in the starting line up you'd be calling him a fool and saying you can't just rely on kids. He brings in a couple of older players and it's then used as a stick to claim it's not a rebuild. At least try and pretend to offer a balanced perspective....

Angus Mackay

Utterly depressing listen, boys - sorry. I get that things look tough right now, but what’s the purpose of torching the manager and players right now when we don’t even have a structure in place to replace Clement if he gets binned? Also, the player trading window doesn’t open for another two and a half months, so what’s the point of tearing apart guys we need at least until then? Also, it’s all good and well saying that you were all demanding a striker last January, but the player you were demanding was Shankland who has scored far fewer goals than Dessers since then. 🤷

Kev Armstrong

Not all about goals. It’s about being the main point of our attack. Linking the play and helping get us up the pitch.

Hendi

It's desperate stuff and completely undermines any credibility in the rest of their arguments. It's been clear for months that they're desperate to potray issues in the worst possible light and wont let the truth get in the way of their story. Never hear any acknowledgment of the millions of pounds of wages that walked out the door to offset that spend either

Hendi

Who you playing instead? Let's hear yer solutions instead of your constant problems.

Simon H&H

😂 For a start I’d look to use Igamane more, and if that doesn’t work I’d look to deploy a false 9, with you know, the players who we have on the books that have actually played that role. Bajrami, Lawrence etc. Imagine that, using a new tactic and formation. That good enough pal?

Hendi

🤣 Aye sounds fool proof. Start a young boy with no European experience and no goals. Then if/when that fails, have a team that's just been put together and trying to learn how to play together, try and adapt, mid game to a new system without a recognised striker, in the hope that would get us more goals. What could possibly go wrong?

Simon H&H

The question should be, what could go right. We are stuck on this failing formation, with a big haddy up front, who when the goals dry up, there’s nothing there. I’ve offered my own personal solution. And this is for any game, not just tomorrow. Plodding on with Dessers but, nah.

David Tod

Couldn’t be a positive outlook guys.Just telling it like it is.

Simon H&H

Club have spent around £30m over the last three windows. Thats perhaps the point that was being made.

Rick Swan

A word of caution. Fans need to be careful what they wish for. Get rid of Clement and get McInnes, a move that would firmly place us behind both Celtic and Aberdeen in terms of coaching quality and credibility as a major side in Scotland. This is where I do believe in playing the entitlement card. We need the best we can run to. If we can’t, stick with what we have until we get people in to run the club effectively.

JimGLW

Spot on lads. I'd rather hearing it like it is even if negative rather than an endless stream of excuses or hear some forced positivity for the sake of it. We're sadly a mess right now and everyone can see it.

Angus Mackay

Shankland was the player the majority in the support wanted and was repeatedly suggested on here.

David MacT

It wasn't, whoever said it was discussing the manager and how he's spent the guts of £30million, he actually said it twice.

Angus Mackay

TBF, Kev, as I recall the discussion about Shankland it was overwhelmingly about the goals.

Andrew Broadfoot

Folks, you're behaving like someone who has commissioned a full house reburshing and, while you're still living in the house, is complaining about the dust, noise and general mess. Well, yes of course there's a mess now. You could always sack the builders bring in others and then complain that they're making a mess too.

JimGLW

"Transitional season" is now being used as an excuse for any old shit. There's no progress. £20million and a year in and Clement isn't improving anything at all.

JimGLW

Yes. But then you find the renovation is just an expensive demolition with no signs of actual progress.

David Kiltie

Whether it’s termed a rebuild or a downsize, the wage bill over the last few seasons has been ridiculously high for what we got in return. We need to be on a sustainable footing financially and stay the right side of the line on FFP.

James

Totally agree with you. A lot of exaggeration these days. If Aberdeen weren’t unbeaten there might be a bit more sense but that and THEM out in front seems to have pushed some over the edge. Incidentally if we do sack Clement I have zero faith this board will get anyone better in.

C. J

Anyone glossing over Clement’s record and calling for him to stay is a genuine threat to our club’s standards in the game. He’s a complete dud of an appointment and he is cracking, quickly. Time to go.

Steven Harvey

Superb stuff boys. Anyone thinking PC is doing a sterling job really needs to take stock. Yes, he’s had some challenges but to waste money on a bunch of players with no or limited physicality in this league is a complete dereliction of duty! His most recent press conference is nothing short of embarrassing. 🤷‍♂️

C. J

Sterling, Balogun & Butland are the three leaders in that team. They’re the only honest men in there. This is why Hagi was pushed by Beale, he’s a similar type. Arfield as well. These players are smarter than the boss and the boss knows it.

Graeme Homer

Majority of you lot would be better going to the garden centre at the weekends and come back when the trophies return. Aye it’s bad but if you’re at the point of spouting nonsense or it affects you so badly give it up!

Billy Forrester

Do u suggest Hendi that we keep playing the same players and the same formation? If so u must be happy with the performances for most of season. We need to change it, stevie wonder can see that ffs 🤦‍♂️ it isn’t working and we are shite to watch, so what do u suggest we do?

JimGLW

Tbh Alex was fighting with everyone to say Beale must stay because he was doing fine. And tbh that every previous player or manager was doing fine. And it's all the fans fault. He seems a nice fella but that's just the constant analysis that will never, ever change from him. Just let him be.

Mark Boyd

Stevie that opening monologue with talk of turd sandwichs and nothing rangers do you can take your pants off to was Shakespeare. Great pod gents

Mark Boyd

Also for what it’s worth we are exactly where I thought we would be. We gutted the squad and we have banked on the younger players we have signed being good players in a seasons time, Dio, Barron, jefte, kasanwirjo, Cortes, igamame. And the experienced players we have are just of no standard. Dessers is duff but there is no other viable option till now but he has to now come out anyway. I would not bin the manager. if he had brought in a load of guys at 27 and 28 and this was the standard I'd agree but i think more patience is gonna be required

Nikky Cairney

Stevie at the start of the pod was 100% right with everything he said. Agreed with every single word he said. I find it inconceivable that anyone can still defend Clement. Alex Staff was mentioned at the start as still being in that camp and I can’t understand why. The only argument I ever see is we can’t keep sacking managers? That makes no sense if that manager in place is so far out his depth it’s unreal. His team selections, his subs, his tactics. His signings, his lack of ability to change shape or try something different. His press conferences, his arrogance towards fan media when asking fair questions. Get him out.

Gareth Williams

Great pod lads. It's an absolute travesty the state we find ourselves in. I fear for the future and think we'll be through more pain before it gets better unfortunately.

WILLIAM JACK

We are in a tough spot and the manager may or may not survive but some of the apparent confusion over issues in the pod baffles me as they have been covered extensively elsewhere on the network. PC got an extended contract to send the message that this is a long term project and that the board wanted to get off the sack-the-manager-in-October merry-go-round. Results will dictate whether or not he is around for the length of his contract and the compensation should he be fired will be written into it so there is unlikely to be any additional hit to us. Pretending we don't understand this is, again, baffling. Likewise, Sterling's contract extension. He has, on the whole, looked a useful, adaptable player. His contract has been extended to protect future value. A four year contract effectively gives us 2 years of the player's career before the balance shifts to him and resale value starts to diminish. We all agreed this aspect at the club had been mismanaged previously as player-after-player walked out the door at the end of contracts. You can disagree with the decision but there's no mystery and it makes sense. As for the notion that a transitional season involves, as suggested: being title contenders, beating Celtic twice, winning a cup and taking the title race past the split...well that sounds a lot like a competitive season against an opponent with CL money to spend rather than a transitional one. Criticism of the manager's recruitment is also unfair as we were linked with players and positions during the summer that he clearly wanted to fill but the club through bad luck, bad management, lack of funds or FFP were unable to deliver. If you want to dig a hole and ask for a shovel but get given a garden trowel that hole won't get dug as fast, even if you go hell for leather. I understand that a defeat at Pittodrie may well do for PC but can't help feel we have somewhat shafted a capable and committed manager.

John leitch

Our play just now is turgid and predictable We play one system and we don’t alter it It’s time for a change of system

Andrew Mundt

Unlistenable. Audio quality absolutely shocking.

Bob MacCallum

Igamane's wasn't a "great" chance but he got a shot in. Dessers wouldn't even have got a shot away. He would have tried to take a hundred touches before that. No killer instinct. We have to see what Igamane can do/ not do, not at the end of games but starting and playing for 90 minutes in a series of games. With Dessers up front and Tav at the back, we're doomed to failure.

Bob MacCallum

A " young boy"? He's older than many of our opponents who play against US in league games yet we can't give him a go against so-called inferior teams.

Spoon

Not scoring a goal is not scoring a goal, it’s quite immaterial how the chance isn’t taken. I agree on seeing how someone is from the start and not at the end 10, a pet hate of mine is judging a guy trying to break through at the end of a game when the second string come on and the game breaks down. I won’t change my mind however that any striker in this system is being asked to score too many goals and convert too many relatively poor chances when the rest of the team aren’t doing near enough. We aren’t missing lots of clear cut chances and we don’t create danger in the box as much as we should for our level. My argument isn’t that the guys who get stick aren’t very good it’s that I find it hard to single them out as worse than the others. If we had a guy on the bench for any position better than the normal starters then I haven’t seen them to date. Danilo hasn’t impressed me and Igmane is too old to be treated like a kid regardless of how many games he has played or not, it makes spending the money we did on him more bizarre given how much we needed established striker with a track record. The boy may be a hidden gem but do we have the time or patience to let him find his feet ? Possibly for those who just want any change just a different guy missing is ok. Some, not all by any means, of our shortfalls or weaknesses could be taken out by improved tactics or balance in the team. I haven’t heard much to change my mind regardless of who peoples heroes or villains are. None of the players for a number of years have inspired me to rave about them, liked plenty but only David of recent pedigree would be what I consider a proper Rangers player. You might be correct Bob that with Dessers and Tav in the team we won’t win anything, I would contend that of the first 11, bar some of the new young guys, I don’t think they are doing much better. Isn’t the real issue, who is performing ? I’m not convinced more of the focus shouldn’t be on the bosses slavish devotion to a system and personnel we can see isn’t working than slating the guys he picks. I get the flak they attract, largely merited but we can’t change them as players we CAN however change our set up, shape and tactics.

WILLIAM JACK

Wow. The only honest men in the team/squad? That's some inside knowledge and pretty disrespectful to the other players. Also these players are smarter than the boss? Wow again. So they have managed different teams to league titles and cups? No? Well never mind. What are we waiting for? Big Jack as manager with Leon as assistant and Dujon helping out. We won't need to pay much extra and all will be sorted in no time. Dear Lord.

WILLIAM JACK

So anyone wanting PC to stay would be what....the enemy within? That's so 2024. We can't just disagree, it has to be that anyone not sharing the same opinion is painted as an existential threat. Once again, Dear Lord. Haven't used the phrase Dear Lord in years and have now deployed it twice in this thread. Feels good tbh. ;-)
