William Donaghy

I watched tavs presser, he looked bored and uninterested. Imagine that guy trying to inspire you 🙈

Latimer

No idea why Rangers allow gutter press hacks into Ibrox

ali t

Tuune......switched off after lol

James McSween

Why’s Clement mentioning 2012 in last 2 press conferences. That’s before him and fuck all to do with him. Also trying to lower our expectations with his constant boring waffle.

Derek Robertson

Clearly the board have explained to him why the cuts were necessary and that we didn't want to go there again. Its obvious

Greg

So, Tav gets slaughtered for "hiding" from the post match on Wednesday and then slaughtered for doing the presser today. I really like Clement I was and still am desperate for it to work out for him but its not going to happen. Also if I have to read or hear the word waffle again I'm going to scream.

Scott Kerr

Captain and manager both talk as much sense as the daily record

Billy McCormack

Tav with the same shite he's spouted for the last few or more years!

David Hanlon

Same old same old rubbish from both Captain and Manager. Sorry tav is never a captain and the Manager can't understand Scottish Football. He can't get the team up for the league games. Sorry but too many of these players are not fit for purpose. We need to sack the manager and play youth players, at least they can get themselves up for a game.

Fraser Wells

Tav - “9 points behind isn’t good enough for our standards” He has an absolute cheek to speak about standards!! 3 trophies in 10 years, consistently shitting the bed and yet he’s talks about setting standards!!!

Glyn Davies

Glad you said it Colin, I'm also sick of these bland, regurgitated responses from our players & staff during press conferences. You nailed it on the head regarding Tav, the money he is on etc, why would he leave! He's happy with the way it's going because it's miles better than he would do or get at any other club in any other league! WELL it's not good enough for US 😡

James McSween

That will never happen again, so no need to mention it, he’s saying stuff like that to save his job and to lower our expectations.

Greg Cameron

I know you said go and watch the press conference for full context but I just canny listen to him any more. Hearing the text from it was enough. He is so full of shite it's unreal.

Latimer

No injury updates for Sunday I take it?

Billy Paterson

Hang on. We've heard from numerous podders on H&H that PC says too much but now you are criticising him because he's not divulging all in how he's going to turn the current shambles round? Don't get me wrong, he's made plenty of mistakes and needs a complete rethink on what he's doing but you can't have it both ways.

Andrew Stewart

At least Clement was showing a bit of fight in his presser, which is something that cannot be said about Tavernier. He looks defeated already. He must be bored saying sorry all the time, hes done it most of his career. Clement will continue to trust poor, out of form players and it'll be his end.

Andy sawers

If we don't win on Sunday is that worse than getting embarrassed in the final off Celtic or Aberdeen? Does anyone really believe that we could turn any of them over in the final?

Colin

I’m not slaughtering him. I’m just saying I’m sick of hearing the same excuses and soundbytes from him. Another sign that he has sadly been here too long. Like I said on the pod it’s sad seeing this version of him and I don’t want this to be folks memory of Tav.

Colin

I’m criticising hearing the same old sound bites about the story, and things that happened last season etc. We will never hear anything of substance in a press conference but something new shouldn’t be too much to ask.

Ben

Nice of the captain to lament missed chances rather than touch on his own brain fart which gifted them their 2nd goal.

Gary Q

You can stay in a job too long regardless of your profession. That includes footballers. He did a great job for us at a particular time but this is a painful decline for us all!

James

Did anyone ask how Aberdeen have managed to turn things around so quickly with lesser players and less money? I’d like to hear his answer on that….

Linda Mackay

Excruciating but the manager did not ask the questions! Yes he has his faults but some of the questions are ludicrous!

Jim McCutcheon

And the storm continues the fans will decide as it should be 🤷‍♂️, thanks Colin 👍

Graeme McLeod

The board and this dud of a manager want to use 2012 to scare fans into silence. And they ignore that their poor decisions - including giving this manager a contract extension when he wasn't even here a year yet - are why the club's books are a disaster. The only thing that's obvious is that neither the manager or board are fit for purpose.

Billy Paterson

I don't see that way. One thing that's is unifying the support though us the desire to see a change on the park. Formation for me is needing changed asap. But we all know we have fans who want Tav dropped, PC then drops him, we lose and those same fans will then jump on PC's back for dropping the captain.

Pondo Sinatra

That’s the best opening tune you’ve ever picked, Colin! Congrats!👏

stephen

I'd genuinely hate to be a podder right now, everyone's lashing out (I'm guilty too) We're just all frustrated and it appears we're just going to lumber on with all of our off-field and on-field nonsense for a considerable time yet. Thanks for the update Colin, it's a tough gig at the moment.

DRKMN

Hi Colin, any chance you guys can timestamp the DU so we skip past yourself or David reading out interviews if we've already watched on YouTube. Like the guys do on The Preview pod. Cheers. 👍

Tamus

I hate James Tavernier - his inclusion in the HoF cheapens the whole thing A wigan reserve who became a multi millionaire because of our situation with Craig Shite A habitual loser and self confessed coward of a man Ive hated him since his cowardly article in the programme a few years back

John Gow

I do. But to do that we need a new manager who knows Rangers and has heart.

DRKMN

He's media trained mate. They all do it when difficult questions are being asked. Monotone boring answers. The grey man technique. These press conferences are a waste of time anyway. Always the same shite.

Steve Clark

I watched the press conference and it struck me,I wasn’t watching somebody who was worried about losing his job.i just can’t see us changing managers for the foreseeable future.certainly not till we get a new permanent chairman and ceo

James Anderson

Tav was given 3 opportunities to say he was playing for the manager today....he never. His presser today was just platitudes showing absolutely no desire whatsoever Another manager going, who showed extreme faith in this guy.

Bixby Snyder

The Daily Record reporters remind me of the journalist from Season 5 of The Wire who used to make up witnesses who saw the "serial killer". The others are just McNulty's - adding fuel to the fire.

Andy sawers

New manager same players that have shit themselves every time we've played celtic after Gerrard left.

Andy sawers

Should have been here for the banter years before this platform. David's dogs willy being funnier than chris sutton got you through that dross.

Alan Campbell

Another press conference another bomb scare

William George Bell

The manager really talks some guff when he analyses games. If he talks about the story of the transition or those just in the building again he deserves what he gets. Is he blind? He’s lost the players.

Big Ian

What do you want them to come out and say? 🙄

Andrew Ewing

Just a thought. We have spent 13 years unsuccessfully looking for a right winger to fit our formation. Perhaps we could try changing the formation to suit the players we have? Crazy, I know. We play in a horrible little parochial league and maybe in Scotland we shouldn’t even try and play European style? Walter liked a 3-5-2 for a reason.

David Kiltie

A bit of nuance is needed. Tav is well past it at Rangers and should definitely have left over the summer. On the other hand a player who lead Rangers to our first title in a decade and in a European final deserves better than to be disparaged as a “Wigan reserve”. Several players from a similar background arrived at around the same time as Tavernier who did nothing and have long since been forgotten. What Tavernier has contributed to the club for a player costing £200k has been incredible, especially when we recall the long list of flops on which we have squandered countless millions for nearly 4 decades. This is what makes the current situation so tragic. What happens with Clement is anyone’s guess - he may be gone on Monday, he may be here long term. Either way he needs to make bold decisions starting on Sunday, and that means dropping Tav.

David Kiltie

If we win on Sunday then for sure we would be massive outsiders for the final but we still desperately need the win on Sunday to lift the gloom around our club, even if only for a short time and to a small degree.

Tolmie

Just listened to this pod, genuinely depressing how mental clement is, needs sectioned, maybe do pods without his interviews because it’s a really hard listen

David Kiltie

If he was having private discussions with the board those discussions would stay private so one of many silly questions from the hacks. He is hardly going to say , “I am dead man walking and waiting for my payout”, even if that was true.

Andy sawers

I agree we need a win but to be pumped in the final again or off aberdeen at hampden again renders getting there mute.

WILLIAM JACK

Colin, I appreciate your work on the daily update and really enjoy your editorial/commentary elements. I have to be honest, though, and say I don't hear the same triggering interview from Clement that you and other fans did. He is under a world of pressure at a club where he has almost zero corporate support. He was mis-sold what the project was and subsequently offered more time to implement a different project. He didn't get the players he wanted in the summer (eg a midfield organiser such as Thelin brought in at Aberdeen) and on a reduced salary budget he is building almost from scratch. What else can he say but try to focus on the long term, any positives he can find and the complicating issues at hand? I didn't hear a manager comfortable that his job is safe. I heard a manager with very little support doing his best to project a calm image when he is the figurehead for the club. I don't know if he will survive or be successful but I just don't hear in this interview a lot to get riled about. I only pipe up with this because there are people like myself that see the guy's track record, see what he did with a slightly better squad last season and aren't sure that giving him the hoy wouldn't be jumping from the frying pan into the fryer. Anyway, keep up the good work, it's a pleasure to listen to you a Friday. :-)

Jim Milne

Clements answer would probably be that 90% of Aberdeen's team have been together for a few years, without realising it's the same for 90% of the starting 11 he put out at Pittodrie.

Jim Milne

I'd say it's got to the point a large percentage have tuned Clement out, and no matter what he says now it doesn't matter to them.

John Breen

Gaslighting at its finest by both of them

Stephen

Ridiculous comment. If everyone had contributed the same stats as Tavernier has in the past 5 years we would have won the league most years. He is past it now but he has contributed more than most. If Ray Wilkins can get in the Hall Of Fame Tavernier definitely should be too

James Anderson

I am sick to the teeth of hearing that players are only can only play a certain amount of minutes, we hear this every week. Sports scientists rule this nanager.

JimGLW

Pure pish from the boss

Martin Sutherland

Thoroughly depressing to hear the board are happy with him. They are on their way to being as damaging as the Mike Ashley gang.

Ross

The aberdeen gaffer built his squad on a £2m budget mate, it can be done, we have spent millions and am not sure if its been spent in the right areas on the right players. clement sanctioned £5m for Diomande who didn’t play against Aberdeen, Propper a £1.7m signing benched, surely that money could of been spent better? Cortes another signing we’ve committed £4m towards is out with a long term injury, again could we of not used those funds to sign guys more robust more suited to the scottish game?

8luenose1872

Our womens team seem to play on a different day to celtic women alot and anytime a game conflicts with the mens team it always seems to be us, might just be a coincidence but i wouldn't be surprised if its not

8luenose1872

I have been so annoyed at clements pressers lately but that one today i wasn't, i mean what was he supposed to say differently really, i actually felt for him for the 1st time, he clearly does love the club and is desperate to get better. He just needs to change things up badly and stop rewarding players with so much game time when they are playing awful. When he benched tav and dessers v st mirren they both came on and did well so he should take note of that coz maybe they are better as impact subs atm. Just to be clear im far from convinced he has what it takes to fix it!!!

WILLIAM JACK

At least we have yet to lose 6-0 to Celtic. Not saying it's not possible but our ceiling seems higher. Recruitment has only been partly under Clements's influence. How much of that is mismanagement by us and the limitations of FFP who knows? Diomande has looked a decent player and can take the ball on the half-turn unlike most of our midfield. He has certainly dipped and may not have been the manager's choice for Pitoddrie - that happens. Pröpper was not a first choice buy and will either learn from his rag-dolling versus St Mirren or not - time will tell. Cortes had zero injury issues before joining us so didn't look like a waste of money. If he proves to be made of plasticine that will be a blow as he looked technically good and pacy (something we miss). We could have signed more robust domestic players but I doubt we'd be winning the league with them. My point is that Clement has a proven record of turning young/developing teams into title winners. Everything else is conjecture. I'm not saying the he is the magic bullet, nor am I convinced that binning him will help. As for an alternatives such as (bottle merchant) McInnes? Maybe he has a managerial giant hidden in there but he seems more likely to be a competent middle (table) manager who does well with a limited squad/budget and knows that's his level. FYI, I don't take your response as any kind of antagonism. We are all scrabbling around for the quickest way to improve things, I just think that given the hole we sank into post-55, there may be no short-cuts. I'd be happy to be proven wrong.
