Oooooh perspicacity

Another day, another injury. Is it the SAS that run our training sessions using live ammunition?

Richard McLuckie

As the jokes goes .."If you don't know what a thesaurus is, get a dictionary & work backwards from there" Interesting comments regards the new CEO, personally think it's a coup of an appointment. We all said we need someone who operated at the highest level of football, well, he has that experience in spades. Just as long as he has the authority & autonomy to put his plans in place.

Granters

Totally agree on giving young Curtis (and others) a chance at 1st team level. We have got to get much better at bringing our own talent through. They all seem to get stuck around the stage Curtis is currently at, tread water, then fade away. We seem way too risk averse with this stuff. The league is how gone so turn it into an opportunity to give these guys a shot.

Call me auld fashioned but... Find your formation. Play the players in the positions they play in that formation. If 1st choice is out, 2nd in line steps up and if he is also them out, the B team lad comes in. Playing players out of their natural positions is hurting us. Sterling has played everywhere, Bajrami never at 10 and so on... Anyway. Win on Thu and drop points Sun 🤣

Probably the Auld man in me talking here, but does anyone else find it disrespectful that people are climbing up on Walters statue to put a scarf round his neck?, this isn't no Duke of Wellington on Queen st we have here.

WILLIAM JACK

Seems to be the modern trend of inveigling yourself into the story. I'm sure it's well intended but I'm with you on this. Sadly, well-intended or not it's open to abuse. Would it be a surprise if some Groin Brigade member climbed up pretending to be a Bear then produced a CFC scarf (or worse) or defaced the statue in some other way? Statue itself is a wonderful tribute to Walter.

David Kiltie

I notice Curtis and Rice were subbed just past the hour mark - are they on the plane to France today?

Heart and Hand

I don’t think it’s disrespectful, I think it’s intended as the opposite of that, but I do think it’s unnecessary. The statue is the tribute.

Another failure on Clements watch. He stated he would give the youngsters a chance. Looks like no chance. I could understand if we were flying but we are utter dugshit and need an injection of anything that's different to the turgid grind we are being subjected to just now

Paul Kerr

100% with you on development David. The 'pathway' at Rangers is a joke. Curtis is on fire and been ready to take a chance if given it for weeks, we're crying out for goals and the lad can't stop scoring. Instead we've players out of position both starting and as subs. Why not use a natural player with bags of confidence? Even 30/45 mins to see what he can do for a few games. We could even free up Bajrami, a player who looks shackled out wide. Plus supporters would get a boost if he came on rather than rolling our eyes at a Dowell sub.

James McSween

Not a hope in hell of any the B team players getting a run out under Clement. To much pressure on team to win at moment. Also if we were good enough to be winning comfortably then we could bleed them in but that’s not happening with this current team.

James McSween

Totally agree, only way our good young players get a chance this season is with an interim manager taking over.

Stephen

These young guys just go to make sure there are enough home grown players in the squad. No chance of ever getting any game time

David Kiltie

Our dearth of players to fill the club-trained and association-trained player quotas is another indictment the recruitment. Injecting some youngsters into the first team would at least give supporters a lift.

Calum Robertson

Got to give the youngsters some game time when appropriate more beneficial in the long run not saying play them in the cup final but we should be able to get 5 - 10 appearances from the bench out of them over the course of a season. If not then why would any youngster take a youth contract at the moment when there is more chance of getting into the first team at Motherwell or Kilmarnock rather than next to none at us

Angela Frater

I didn't realise how involved Walter Smith had been with Variety Scotland. It's a fabulous charity, their buses bring kids to my Riding for the Disabled groups down in Ayr, if it wasn't for the Variety coach they wouldn't be able to come 🐴💙

BlueJay

Clement is working his ticket. There's no way a guy who has the intelligence, knowledge, and experience he has to refuse to change his approach. He knows the outcome and will be happy to blame the dearth of infrastructure at the club as the reason for his failure.

Neil 55

That's a great song David. 🤩

Craig Mitchell

Not only was David's choice of language weak, it was also on second listen, really weak.

Jim Lamb

He already has started it with his line that he’s taken on stuff no manager in the world should be taking on

Robbie McCarroll

My tastes lend themselves to a preference of the Friday music but thats a tune added to the Spotify playlist!

I’ve noticed the boy Curtis scoring a lot, ands he’s where he needs to be right now, or he would be in the first team. The next step may be a short loan. It’s easy for us to sit and tell the manager that he should throw him in, because when he does and we don’t win the first thing some will say is sack the manager. That’s the reason he isn;t being thrown in right now. When the side finds more consistency, or when some fans get their way and we sack another perfectly good manager, then maybe we will see him included. The thing about changing managers is that new managers often have a different idea to which young players should be getting a chance. From Gerrard to Gio there was a difference in who was rated, the same from Gio to Beale , and the same was true from Beale to Clement. If he gets his chance it’ll be when the time is right to do so. Look at it this way, had the board found the money to rebuild properly in the summer then maybe he would be getting some minutes by now. Then again, maybe we wouldn’t be bothering looking so closely at these youngsters in the B side. I’ll judge him when he does play for us, not based on how he answers questions.

Fergie

That was a glowing reference for our new CEO which sounds very encouraging. No idea why the person wished to remain anonymous - I thought it was going to be something controversial or damning when I heard that.

Rose Mcloughlin

Just catching up with my daily pods...nice to get you back hope you enjoyed your break...100% agree with you about the young team players prospects..we need a wee mix of them in our team to bring them on...and even if they become really good and we cant keep them and with a certain 2 young players in mind we can make good money from their sale...we are not going to get any of these happening if they are not on show ....plus they could give more than some of them we have in the 1st team just now.
