Hoggy is back with Graham Roy to discuss the agenda set by you:

  • Rangers draw with Dundee United and then we dismantle Nice (who saw that coming?)

  • Hamza Igamane (new R9?), Dessers and what next

  • Unexpected European results from the past

  • 28th November 1956 - Nice v Rangers

If you want to come on the show or get in touch, hoggy@heartandhand.co.uk.

I demand that the audio of Hoggy's goal celebrations is made a regular feature of the Hamper. You sound like me!

Andrew Whiteside

Not sure you can say Celtic are a better team than us and then say the manager should be sacked if he does not beat them but n the cup final. That mob have out spent us 3 to 1 in the past two years. Changing a manager is not the answer. You say he has had a lot of money to spend. In my opinion we have had nowhere near enough to spend to guarantee the level of performance we demand.

Graham Roy

The reality is if he doesn’t lay a glove on Celtic then he will lose his job. I just don’t see him lasting but hope I am proved wrong. Gio is perfect example took us to a European final but as he couldnt beat Celtic in the league lost his job.

Andrew Whiteside

I think it will be closer than it was last time out. But I think they have too much for us. I thought sacking Gio before he had the chance to sign players was a mistake at the time. I think we need to replace, dowell, Dessers, Matondo and Lawrence with experienced players before we can be serious title contenders and being confident of beating that mob.

David Herd

Thanks for sharing my story of 1956 Hoggy. As for 2024, your celebrations at the goals sounded just like me!

The draw against Barcelona 2007. Left the stadium on a high thinking we went toe to toe. That phrase; you can’t see the wood for the trees. I do not remember any specific detail (trees) just the overall feeling. I remember Ronaldhino’s smile being 30% or am i making this up. Great game, good result and one of the reasons Europe can be enjoyable.

Start wearing all blue in the domestic games!

Moody Marco

It’s an undeniable fact that there are a LOT of entitled cry babies in our support. And the vast majority of them know absolute hee haw about football

David_Davy_Dave

Re Dale Gordon, a player of that quality from the EPL who could be signed and immediately contribute (which was the question) probably costs £20m+ hence we can’t make moves like that

Graeme Burns

Superb coverage of the first ever European tie

Tom McDavid

Remember Dale Gordon’s East End Park debut very fondly. I had £5 on 5-0 at 40/1. 👌

Rona Bluebell

Love the reaction to the goals 🥳💙

Graham Roy

I don’t disagree about signings but if you compare this with Gerrards 1st season then you can see the difference against Celtic. No one really expected us to challenge at start of the season but we should be competitive in one off games against Celtic. This month for me is make or break if he can get us into 2nd place and defeat Celtic at Ibrox then he might survive. We also need a performance in the cup final if it’s a repeat of the previous ones in tactics and attitude then he is done.

Andrew Whiteside

It took Gerard three years to get a winning side together. This manager knows what he is doing. I think now we have fit and mobile strikers the performances will improve but to say the manager is done given the circumstances is unfair. I’m f it was me making the decision you wait till the end of the season.

Hendi

Agree, they adopt black and white positions and speak with absolute certainty on every topic. They never acknowledge when they are proven to be wrong or let their past misjudgements lead to any doubt in the their latest view...

AndyK70

Excellent pod Hoggy. Really enjoyed the account of the Nice games in the 50's

David

Fans are entitled to their opinions and can you blame the fans for being negative with the amount of dross we have watched this season

Moody Marco

I don’t blame them for being negative, but I do blame them for some of the absolute shite they come out with

Graham Roy

He beat Celtic in his first season and the games we lost against them that season there was nothing between the sides. PC has so far shown he hasn’t learned anything about how to play against Celtic which is concerning. Results will dictate how long he gets. I hope he does prove me wrong but I am not seeing enough to convince me he is the guy to take us back to the top. The forwards in general need improvement so hopefully Igamane and Danilo can start to improve us

Hendi

They are entitled to their opinions. But they should recognise that that is all they are - opinions, and usually pretty ill informed ones... But too many present them as if they're unarguable facts.

Andrew Whiteside

I appreciate your point but Gerard had more money and was not saddled with reducing a wage roll that was out of control while your rivals are outspending you 3 to 1 on transfer fees for the past two seasons.Have a look at the comments Souness made recently about the manager. Last year he had a squad of injured players and guys who were on the way out and came close to the title. Let him build a team and I believe he will be successful. It’s not about scabbing a win over them it’s about building a team and style of play to win a championship.

Jim Milne

Great pod as always Hoggy. Loved the recording of you as we scored and the Nice story at the end. Absolute quality.

Rose Mcloughlin

Great pod..the history of the european football was brilliant....thanks guys

Graham Roy

Can’t disagree about the money Gerrard spent but can’t also downplay the financial advantages Celtic had over us at that moment in time. If anything the gap was larger then and still Gerrard was able to beat them. However money doesn’t win games otherwise Newcastle would be winning everything in England. We should be able to compete in one of games imo. If he doesn’t win on the 2nd and at least compete in the final then realistically he is gone.
