Like Kev says, we’re not asking our striker to do anything out of the ordinary, but when we’ve got someone who can do it, it makes the world of difference

Thanks again guys really enjoy this pod 👍, hopefully we can use this win as a jump in domestic performances 🤞

Im not sure the gaffer can adapt his team formation for our domestic league imo

Agree with Steven, Kiev are a poor side and it grates we lost that tie Vs them despite our euro form being good since then.

I'm just about to listen, always impressed by the level of research and quality of information you have about any of our opponents. 👏

Craig Guthrie

First time listening and really enjoyed it. Cheers guys

I’m feeling surprisingly optimistic about tomorrow mainly because I think Dessers won’t be starting

Good analysis as usual about Sunday. Steven always amazes on how he has the sheer willpower to be interested enough in our opponents to give us that level of detail and insight. On Thursday glad not to hear the churlish stuff from elsewhere about it not being more convincing. Hope everyone gives Igamane space to grow. Real potential but no doubt there will be howlers to come as he learns his trade. As said maybe 22 isn’t young but experience is everything. He needs to develop that to complement undoubted talent. Raskin was outstanding. Looked like the player we all thought we’d got when he signed. Big John was really solid also and you could see why Propper fits well into a football playing league (maybe not ours admittedly). Drop off when Tav and Dessers entered the field was noticeable. They’ll be needed in a long season no doubt but must be when needs dictate rather than the default as it has been. Good winter transfer window needed now for he manager, whoever it is, to build on. Keep saying I’m not doing it but clambered back on the rollercoaster.

I have defended what I think was OTT criticism of Dessers not on a belief he is great but purely as I still don’t like the single striker formation and I remain sceptical this system works domestically, but Sunday may prove me wrong. Dessers should be the back up to Igmane if he can show even half that level of hold up and finishing domestically as that is indeed miles better than we are getting from Dessers. That accepts the boy might dip or need a rest which I have no issue with but I would still much prefer a two up front set up in our own league as the mistakes from Nkce worked to our favour, on the night though the team and players deserve tremendous credit. I still don’t believe domestically Clement has it. For all we got the maximum we can ask from the team in Europe there was no real tactical nous shown and my own feeling is we saw the same game plan as always, mostly the same people and even the same like for like subs they just clicked this time. I still want more from him before I think he’s learning or we are properly moving forward and not back. Agree with Iain that Raskin was outstanding however my pick of the bunch is still Jefte who for a boy of 20 has everything you would want from a modern defensive or offensive wide man in terms of attitude, aggression and ability. Real enjoy watching the boy and excited to see him kick on. Sadly I don’t really take much from Europe which is a shame, I think in Gerrards title win the midweek stuff settled, inspired and motivated us to kick on in the league but since then it’s almost like we see it as a thing to justify the poor domestic stuff, that has to change. You can get credit for the team for their efforts but reality is the league matters far far more and winning it is probably more important than a decent run in the Europa just on money terms. We could even go totally off script at some point and be good in both….. Gaffer can be proud of his Euro record but he has to know and accept it’s a sideshow and only the league keeps him in a job. Enjoyed the pod gents as always great comment and very fair, just stop playing those bongos you lot keep hitting !!
