Gordon McCool

Fucking hell, had to stop at the ballooning joke. 😂😂 just managed to compose myself and I think I’m ready to go again. 😂

John Johnston

That opening tune has colin all over it.

Alan Weir

In life we accumulate a variety of tenuous and rather minor “claims to fame”. In my collection is a Viz article all about me winning a rude word Wordsearch and not receiving my prize from the film company who had offered a new TV to the winner. The article was a hoot and included a colour photo of me in the Viz offices in full disgruntled pose. My late mother even bought a copy of the edition: don’t think she has ever been prouder😁. And, of course, I still have a copy!

Gary Q

Been looking forward to this one!

Angela Frater

One copy of Profanasausus 45th edition ordered for my step dad's birthday (Christmas day 🙄), I never knew such a thing existed,he would love this. Tune in to RBR for top shopping tips, thanks lads! But how will you know who listened all the way to the end this week?!?!

Rob Erskine

Brilliant show. Started buying Viz in the late eighties as a teenager. Loved the cartoon strips and letters/tips. Some standouts for me l, aside from the ones you mentioned, 8Ace, Mickey’s Monkeyspunk Moped and Buster Gonad. Later graduated to the articles, my probable all-time favourite being when Britain’s serial killers were asked to put a value on Radiohead’s new album (the one where fans could pay what they wanted). Genius. Might treat myself to a subscription.

Rona Bluebell

Bless you, Angela. I gave up after 10 minutes. 🤷🏼‍♀️ Men are as daft as dugs sometimes 🐕 Bring back Andy!!!!!

Graeme

Not laughed that hard in ages, lost count of the amount of times I nearly crashed my lorry this morning, appreciate you 🔴⚪️🔵

Simon

Love the adverts. Neighbour Troubles, burst his fkn tires with tyre nails. I’m sure there was one for window bricks as well.

Jordan McKay

That *might* be the best AI intro of them all

Andy mccrorie

Electric soup was another phenomenal magazine like viz 😂😂😂

Gary Staff

My son recently cancelled his Viz subscription, the letters they send you asking you to come back, gradually get more desperate, until they are begging because they borrowed a lot of money and someone is coming round to break their legs.

Gary Staff

Once of the artists on that now draws for DC, a guy called Frank Quietly. He used to do a parody of the Broons in Electric Soup.

Gary Staff

Also wasn’t there a strip called “The Incredible Vibrating Bum Faced Goats”?

Angela Frater

I can't imagine Andy getting involved in such gutter humour - far too conservative for that! I'm also surprised at David who is well documented as having staunch presbyterian values (the reluctance to get involved with the Manscaping nonsense...)! In fact only Jack didn't surprise me - I would have thought that content would be too politically incorrect/anti-woke for Colin too!

Colin

Wait until you hear the one for the Christmas episode

Colin

I try to be a man of the people so occasionally I lower myself to such nonsense. Usual high brow stuff will be back next week.

Jordan McKay

Those Strange Planet comics are superb “The ancient ritual persists”

Jay

Grew up reading Viz. Favourite ever RBR episode. Thanks gents

Alan Ryder

I thought the video of the girl from Bellshill having relations with her dog would be the worst thing inflicted on me this week, but then that awful theme tune came on at the start of the show!

Danny Underwood

Sitting in an airport waiting on a delayed flight. This was just what I needed, hilarious.

Paul Kerr

Excellent lads. Had a right good laugh at that. I actually didn't mind that AI tune. Very clever lyrics Colin, whatever you fed into it worked, but the original is still the one that gives you the ear worm, you just can't get it out of your head all day.

mark wyper

I not sure how many times I had to skip back as I was still in tears from the previous one 😭

Ben

One of my favourite letters was: Dear Steve from Burnley, Thank you so much for not going travelling with your girlfriend this Winter. Donna is a great shag. Best regards, Brad Bondi Beach

Caroline Morrison

What a show! Jack’s laugh is the best thing ever 😅👏🏻

Sharon Craig

Excellent show x loved it 💙

Rona Bluebell

Oh no, don’t say that. I’ve got you all on a pedestal as erudite men of wit. Andy stripped naked and singing ‘rabbit rabbit’ next Thursday could be the final nail in that coffin 🐰

Jonny McGuffin

It’s the Viz Top Tips that get me. “Increase your life expectancy by expecting to live longer”

Kirk Guthrie

Never heard of the Viz as a Canuck but reminds me a lot of Deep Thoughts with Jack Handy 😂 enjoyed this one boys

Jim Milne

There is no way that Mary Whitehouse had known of The Viz. Wouldn't have lasted this long if she knew about it in the 80s.

Phileas Fogg 55

Downloaded to listen again and again . Too funny !!

Ross Mcfarlane

Disgusting. Will be writing a strongly worded letter to the Home Secretary. Anyone got a discount link?

KennyY

Give us the original AI tune back please that was v dire

John McDonald

I made the mistake of listening whilst driving! That was wonderful, I love the anticipation we have when someone telling you something funny is laughing as they read it. Great episode!!

Angela Frater

If I'm honest my sarcasm levels are such that this type of humour is just up my street. But the thought of Andy, naked, singing Rabbit Rabbit may yet be enough to send me over the edge. And not in a good way...

Lynsey

Fab stuff lads! My Dad bought the Viz when I was a kid in the 80s. I’d get him the Annual every year as part of Christmas right up until he passed away. He had a Roger Mellie says ‘Bollocks’ T-shirt which he loved much to my mother’s annoyance.

David Clapperton

That was tremendous. Well done boys. Really funny. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Never read Viz in my puff but I’m going to ask Santa for it now. What do think, just start off with the 2025 annual?

Alan Spiden

I started buying Viz around 1987 and bought every edition until the mid 2000’s…as it obviously wasn’t as funny as it used to be 😁 Does anyone else who read it remember a short lived story (perhaps two or three editions) called “Mickey’s Monkey Spunk Moped”? As the name suggests, it was the heart warming story of a young lad and his simian spooge fuelled moped and the scrapes and capers they got themselves into. They weren’t the funniest characters to appear in the publication but the name is still a great source of amusement to this 59 year old! I still have three boxes full of old copies somewhere in the loft and I’m now going to try to find them 😁

Simon

The Radisson Red hotel room walls are covered in his artwork. He’s from Rutherglen I think.

Angela Frater

I remember having a wee sly look at copies lying around at home when I was a kid, in much the same way a teenage boy would look at their dads scud magazines 🤣🤣

Damien Stubbs

F*ck me I hope I don’t have to hear that theme tune ever again 🤣

JimGLW

Superb

Craig Fryatt

Very good and I say this as someone who bought the Viz for my most recent trip to sea

David Gilhooly

I listened to this pod going home on the bus. I was Helpless with Laughter for the duration of the journey. Just when i thought i could take a breath, one of you would read something else and i was off again. We always had Viz in the office and it was always a source of conversation with all of us. I remember the Sid the Sexist and Roger Mellie VHS tapes. Life was so much simpler back then. We must have a Viz sho on the network.

Craig Fryatt

We seafarers are a crazy breed; half in love with death, gobbling up danger like ordinary men eat peanuts

Brian Hodgson

Lads. This has been one of the best shows. I felt like I was on the pod with you all. Viz letters. Hope you all find a Pikeys bonus this weekend.

TIMMY TURTON

Awesome Guys… Never read VIZ before but that brighten my mood and got me through part of my shift in work. Absolutely howling at you 3 trying to hold it together reading through it. 🤣👏🏻

John Johnston

You should do a pod about the Sunday post readers letters page would not look out of place in Viz.

Chris Pryde

Can I just say that’s the worst into tune I’ve ever heard and David needs to have a word. I’ll excuse Jack cos it sound like Colin is being influenced by his blue sky leanings

Paul Dunnachie

I’ve been inspired to get my soon to be 17yr old the Viz 2025 annual for Christmas! My introduction must have been around 1988 - absolutely loved it, proper stomach-hurting laughter.

Tamus

If you want on of those backwards skip hats that the kids wear but can't find one..... ..... Simply buy an ordinary one, cut the skip off with scissors and sew it on round the back

DrumFace

I've been having issues with the audio for the last month across many of the heart and hand podcasts. I thought it was just on my end but in RBR today, again Jack and Colin sound crystal clear, but David is cutting in and out and robotting constantly, I'm finding it really hard to listen. Never had an issue with audio quality before, its always been excellent. The Roundtable has been especially bad with multiple people on the pod cutting in and put. Love the pods guys, any help would be appreciated! Feels like a post processing issue, that's a total guess :) but obviously its not audible at the time of recording.

Colin Gardner

Had a lady friend from Newcastle who would send me The Viz every month.Actually looked more forward to getting that than hearing from her.😂 The early characters were icons and still use the Viz in my patter(sad I know)

Lewis Wardrope

Instead of trying to commit suicide as a cry for help, simply cry “help!”. I nearly crashed my car I was laughing that much😂

stevan castrissios

Viz also did the one off stories. Like, ‘The Germans’. Which involved a nudist beach and the muckiest of interactions. It made me laugh as much as this pod. 😂😂😂

CGG

Genuinely hilarious 😂

Heart and Hand

I listened and didn’t find that so it is genuinely weird! What player do you use to listen to- could be that?

David Scott

Walking round Asda pissing myself laughing looking like an escapee, proper funny stuff in the Viz , i have the profanisorus great toilet reading.

Alan Shaw

Regarding the new tune as blackadder said to Charlie Chaplin in a telegram please please please stop

John Johnston

There was a big thread in the lounge on follow follow a few years back about it not sure if it is there or not still.

Craig Guthrie

Brilliant listen and you’re right David with making sure we support the likes of Viz. Be buying the annual tomorrow

Jack Shaw

David is ever so slightly quieter on Apple Pods but no drop outs or glitches I can hear

DrumFace

Thanks for getting back to me man. Yeah the issue may well just be on my end, not seen anyone else comment on it. It's a weird one though as some people sound perfect and others just keep cutting in and out constantly across multiple pods. I'll have to try on different devices to figure it out. Cheers Jack

DrumFace

Sorry I missed your reply there David. I'm just using a Samsung s10 and I'm not having the issue on other podcasts. I use podcast Republic player, which has always worked fine, but it could be the culprit. I'll experiment now I know for sure it's just me thats having the problem! Thanks David

Stephen

Twisting on 19. Attempting a risky fart when suffering from diarrhoea

Alan Stewart

Thanks lads. That has brought back some great memories. Just purchased the annual for 2025 off the back of this pod.

Owen Scott

Just went and bought Viz for the first time in must be 20 years after this

Craig Murray

You had to put a warning in the heading not to listen while driving, i was driving down to the game last night v spurs, and had tears rolling down my face, the letters were hysterical especially the once about wrapping potatoes in tinfoil absolute superb, the best old character in the viz was Paul wicker the tall vicar, and big vern.

Graeme Lawson

One of the best pods needs a regular show 😄
