You can't beat a corrupt var setup

Francisco Villena

I really admire the podders following sore results like this. Usually the last thing I want to do for the next week is think about the match.

Francisco Villena

Do we think there will be a call from the club to release the audio around the lack of penalty review?

David

Muir and Connors are cheats and everyone needs to call it out as often as possible.

Neil

If we'd been awarded a penalty at such a crucial stage of the match, even a 100% correct stonewaller, the absolute wall-to-wall outrage from the media would have lasted months.

Scott Stewart

I’ll pose a controversial question… does butland ever save anything straight at him with his feet. He’s lost so many goals in the centre . Ones that mac and goalie used to save with there feet! Just an observation, I actually like him but have noticed a weakeness there

Andy mccrorie

Beaton famously gives us fuck all against them so his windows don’t get smashed and Frank the Wank has always been a cheat whether running the line or on var. The story was set as soon as the officials were announced . We had to beat them aswell as the Tim’s

stuart wood

"Controversial" decision are only ever thus when they go in Rangers favour. I am sick to the back teeth of the complicit Scottish media (which is a given) but I really wish our players harried officials and developed a bit of a nasty streak (see Dio sitting alone after being tripped for their 3rd which we accepted meekly)

Martin Boyd

Well said about the non penalty keep it going. I sat here and watched it and was quite calm thinking VAR would sort it out but to be honest I wasn’t too surprised when they didn’t even look at it . That is two cup finals in a row we have been cheated by officials but unless we make a noise about it it will be forgotten. Media will not look at it through unbiased eyes the game up in Scotland is corrupt.

Peter Hosie

The club need to ask for the VAR voice recordings

Ewan Christie

Simple fact is that if the exact same penalty situation was repeated in our box they would 100% have been given it. We also need to be more street smart and start hassling the ref about these things, as we get fucking nowhere by being meek and accepting it.

Kenneth Mackay

Scottish football is a pathetic sham. Is it worth spending thousands of pounds a year on it if it is effectively rigged? Two cup finals in a row we have been cheated by the refs in their favour. Rangers have a responsibility to the fans to nail them on this now and forever. We must never let this go.

Colin Gardner

I hope your right David that the 16th December will hopefully go down as significant day in our history...just happens to be my birthday so I will remember it forever😂🎂

Charles McIntyre

Sore though it is today we are definitely seeing some signs of hope that PC can bring us success. I think we should get behind him 100% for the rest of the Season and see where we are in May. Good tune again.

Stuart Turnbull

It's just another instance of shite officials in charge of our game. There needs to be an overhaul of the refs with them being full time and better training being implemented.

Graeme Smith

We’ll talk about it for a few days like every other situation and then we move on until the next one. Not a criticism but the refs/SPFL know it just blows over. They have no track record of demoting refs or fundamentally changing anything. By the way, Callum McGregor would have been all over the ref to try and make him review that decision.

Bixby Snyder

Don’t think that’s controversial, Scott. I notice things like that where I can see why he didn’t make it at the top top level. I still think we’re punching up to have him though. A bigger concern is that he has to make way more saves due to our defense giving everyone tons of time to shoot way more often than previous Rangers defenses.

Andrew Hind

Huge thanks to John Gilligan for sorting the mess in the boardroom

David Herd

Your song should have been either The Card Cheat by The Clash, or Your Cheating Heart by Hank Williams. Because those in the VAR room couldn't possibly see that still picture and not intervene to award a penalty unless they were dishonest. It's as clear a factual image as possible. Interested to see what the club now do with the new CEO and chairman only in the door today. They have an open goal here to get the support behind them by not accepting any apologies or excuses and only accepting dismissals.

David_Davy_Dave

The entire game It’s not just the penalty or the trip. At Balogun’s booking you clearly see McGregor run over shouting and Beaton said “No, first foul”. What changed? I suspect over reach from the VAR in his ear

David_Davy_Dave

None of us want to believe there is refereeing bias. I don’t believe someone puts in that much work over the years to not focus on doing their best and making the correct calls It then must be incompetence right? Except the decisions are all wrong in one direction Either way, bias or incompetence I see no easy fix I personally think they are terrified to give decisions against Celtic. It may be unconscious and referees would all refute that. Reviewing those incidents it’s clear. The failure to deal with Schmichael at penalty spot and encroaching twice speaks volumes to how they deal with Celtic players I cannot reach any conclusion therefore other than we need foreign referees and the club need to say as much. I understand that harms Scottish refereeing development but this cannot continue and in the absence of an alternative has to be our demand

Dennis Macdonald

Davie what is the rule about the opposition goalie standing in the box when the spot kicks are being taken?

Peter Hosie

The players on field need to do more like pressing the ref and making the tv sign and point for him to go watch it

Brian Rae

Looking at the game again, it's clear we still need to strengthen all over the pitch with the priority being a CB or 2, a CM and a striker. We also need (fit and robust) wingers for the Clement system to be effective. That's all well and good though, because if we're going to be cheated in every close-run old firm game then what's the fucking point? We've been saying for years that the club needs to make a compilation of every dubious decision in the last 5 seasons or so and take this all the way to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, UEFA and any other sporting anti corruption organisation. Then the club must install/employ a competent PR department and bombard with the corruption/cheating narrative. It's the only way and we all know what they would be doing if the shoe was on the other foot. Looking back, the foul on Diomande is every bit as bad as the penalty incident and what comes to mind is the efforts made by VAR on the Lawrence foul last season in order to rule out a Rangers goal. My understanding is that the phase of play prior to a goal being scored is always checked by VAR? Was it checked or ignored? I don't think it's even debatable if this is a conspiracy theory now as they've been intimidating officials for years and it's clear this is giving them an advantage. Their yellow card to foul ratio is simply outrageous and when it's compared to their stats in Europe, it shows a clear bias. The club needs to go all in on this and the only way for it to stop is hitting both the SFA and SPFL financially.

James McSween

Can’t see anything changing under Clement. Not past a big test yet. Lost 2 cup finals to them, last one from a winning position. Also lost the league last season when it was in our hands. I wouldn’t let him have the January window. As no faith in him to beat them in January.

Dennis Macdonald

It must have been the giggles and chit chat before during and after the game that gave him the license to do what he wanted then.

chris smith

We know why those ghouls in the VAR box were given the jhob. They did their jhob perfectly. “Absolutely nothing to see here” is their motto presumably …

Graham Hendry

We ARE far too nice a team. There’s no spite or shithousery in any of them.

Jim Milne

Scmickel or however you spell his name has previous. He did it in the Euros and nothing happened. In truth after Argentina's goalies antics in Qatar FIFA and UEFA should have made a new rule for goalie behavior in penalties. Although in saying that our players aren't mentally strong enough to overcome it. That's the bigger issue.

Billy McCormack

Manager and board need to continually come out and call these refs and var out, play their fucking game, cause it's worked, refs are shit scared to make a call that'll upset ladyboy lover Rodgers and that Pedo covering up board of theirs!! That's 2 cup finals against them now where refs and var have helped them!!!

Jim Milne

As per the refereees the so called top 2 of Nick Walsh and John Beaton are not good referees. Walsh likes to make the game about him and talk to our players like they're children, and Beaton isn't strong enough to make the calls that need to be made. The rules that Collum changed for handball, jersey pulls with regard to penalties just gave more options for refs not to award them. It didn't tighten the rules, it made them easier not to apply. When the SFA appoint an atrocious referee who flat out lied when Alistair Johnson wanted to play volleyball as the head of referees, this is what you get. Did anyone think last year when he got the top job it was good for the game? Another job for the "bhoys", and as ever the SFA reward failure and incompetence.

Jim Milne

Thinking of you David, and anyone who knew and loved Stuart. Football takes 2nd place to the loss of friends and loved ones. ❤️

Alan Weir

We want: a captain to highlight the shocking VAR cheating and indicate that it’s one of many incorrect decisions against them. We get: “No point in speaking about it now. It’s one of those things.” I agree, David, we need the manager to mention this incident press conference after press conference. However, does someone with press conference access - you or other podders? - not need to call out our captain on such a lame response?

Andy sawers

Just on the penalty incident, it's over shadowed the fact celtics 3rd goal should have been pulled back for a foul. Think tom lawrence at the half way line and why that goal was ruled out. khun trips dio so it should be a freekick.

Roderick Boyle

Failing to score when four vs one defender sums it up , no excuses for that , never mind the penalty that wasn’t given .Had we scored then I think it would have been enough to win , you can’t deflect that bit of ineptitude by our players with the goal at our mercy .

Graham Roy

In fairness to Tav he’s just played a game and probably not seen the replays. And what difference would him talking after it make? The club should be organised and have a targeted approach to this!

Alan Weir

My “in fairness to Tav” credits have long since ran out. It his job to know what happened on the pitch, particularly if we’ve received another dubious decision. Sitting there full of cliches and a sense of “aw well, what can you do?” simply isn’t good enough. And finally, what difference would it make? Well, it would make this fan feel that we had a captain who was on the ball and cared as much as I do, rather than a bloke (after a terrific career) who doesn’t really seem that bothered any more.

Niall MacKay

I know you have to watch the game back, you poor fucking man. Do the commentators even comment on it being in the box? I don't recall but I was in a heightened state.

David Innes

I’m slightly disappointed the club haven’t issued a formal statement yet. Does the new CEO not want to rock the boat on his first day ?

Graham Roy

The club should be requesting the audio for the conversation between Var and Beaton.

Peter Hosie

From FB: Corruption! Looking back on yesterday, cheated again in another game against Celtic... the foul from scales is 100% a penalty on Cerny! Every single pundit and ex referee Bobby Madden says it's a pen! John Beaton wasn't asked by "Francis O'Connor" on VAR to go and have a look at it... I wonder why? Celtics third goal there is a foul on Diomande in the middle of the park by Kuhn by standing on his ankle preventing him getting into the box to defend the attack. Again, not asked to look at it and bring it back for a foul. Lagerbielke kicked dessers foot and fell at ibrox the referee never seen a foul which it wasn't, rangers scored but VAR asked him to go and look at it then brings it back for a foul. Tom Lawrence fouled Hetate in the middle of the park at ibrox referee never gave it, rangers scored from the attack but VAR got involved after the goal and brings it back for a foul. Alistair Johnston blatant hand ball in the box at Celtic park rangers should have been awarded a penalty, VAR never got involved and collum took 9 days to come up with an excuse for it. The audio Rangers asked for was never released.. Rangers got a corner at Celtic park Morelos uses strength to get infront of Johnston and put the ball in the net, perfectly fine goal but gets chopped off. There's nothing to see here tho eh? It is blatant cheating and the sooner these corrupt cheating bastards see it and get it sorted out it will be for the better. F the SFA 🖕🏻

GAZ1872

We were cheated yesterday but not only yesterday last season as well the spfl sfa referee association Celtic. They all have agenda’s against us there was no way on this earth that we were winning that cup yesterday all hell would have broken loose . The tackle on cerny is a classic example of corrupt officials it’s plain for everyone to see 🔴⚪️🔵🇬🇧🇬🇧

John Smith

All VAR audio should be posted on the SFA or SPFL YouTube Channel automatically. It should be mandatory

Paul Kerr

Most would say it's the ideal time, as he's coming in from the outside. There is no history only the observation.

Spoon

Not as buoyant as others from another defeat against a pretty average team which I am sure will attract stick. Bar flashes I thought the game was low on quality and vast parts of the second half, certainly extra time we looked dead on our feet and hanging on. Strange decisions continue with Clement, Barron not brought in when we were desperate for energy, Igmane left to run a pretty lonely channel (again) while leggy and Danilo left on the bench where all our recent positivity came from playing a pair up front. For me we had a punchers chance but sort of elected not to punch. Not disputing that we got graft but the set up with Hagi who is already slow in a tired team was strange. Sadly like many games recently they didn’t have to be particularly great to get a trophy. The game in January is now at best a pyrrhic victory, it might get Clement a win but in the wider context yesterday was far more important and meaningful. A chance missed for him to really kick on, to properly go for it and take it to them but for all the huff and puff we put in it was business as usual for them.

Chaz Laird

Let’s be honest Phil can bring this up at every press conference from here until eternity and they’ll still spin in a pro Celtic manner…. If I was Clement/Club/Players I would make his next press conference the last….we’ll just get on with it…..but shut them out…..if need be send out boys from the academy to plug the sponsors and do a little media training…..it would be fitting for the level of journalism in Scotland.. This would be a statement and half….weigh up how hefty the fines are and be prepared to pay them….

Latimer

Club need to clear out the deadwood like Dessers and Dowell as quickly as possible. Wrong mentality and it affects team morale.

Graham Leatherbarrow

Feeling cheated yet again David, we should prepare a full compilation of the incidents that have occurred in six of the last 7 old firms, it’s very consistent all iffy decisions go against us, disallowing goals, handballs, re-checking build ups, defenders collapsing when not touched, we should be screaming it.

Graham Leatherbarrow

If the bent decisions continue a VAR official will end up getting sorted out, it’s proven that Tim’s attacking officials has worked they are frightened to give decisions in our favour, or is it simply very corrupt. Either way keep screaming about it.

Tom

Yesterday was a real stinker, I wasn't expecting much when I seen the lineup but when Danillo scored I thought, we're doing this. Ditch these journeyman players and guys that can't stay fit and we would have the bones of a decent team to build on IMO.

Graham Leatherbarrow

By Friday our new CEO and chairman should be meeting all parties to sort out officiating of future old firm games, need truly neutral EPL officials and VAR teams for these games, no more part time cheaters allowed to continue cheating.

greg sutherland

If ever there was a day for "it's a motherfucker" by the Eels, it was today

John Buchan

Geogre Letham & John Gilligan once more they stepped into the breech all of us will be forever in their debt

Duncan

I don’t agree with Tav saying “there’s no point speaking about it now, it wasn’t given, it’s one of those things.” Look at all the wrongly disallowed goals we’ve had over the last few seasons. This is why this keeps happening to us, because we don’t speak about it. We can’t change what’s happened but we can let the officials know that they can’t keep getting away with the continual mistakes. VAR ha gone back looking for fouls in previous stages of play to disallow our goals in the past, how hard was it for them to look at a potential penalty yesterday??

Steven Tait

That's 5 Cup Finals I've watched where refereeing decisions against Celtic have gone there way and we were robbed. 1977 SCF, 1989 SCF, 2019 LCF, 2024 SCF and now 2024 LCF.

David Innes

We should be prepared to threaten to boycott the next game at Parkhead - a line in the sand must be drawn

Gary Mckendry

Don't agree with the players saying there's no point talking about it, that's why we are on the end of these decisions all the time.

Phileas Fogg 55

VAR should have intervened in their 3rd,goal Khun clearly catches Dio before going into the box. TBH, I was at the game so only saw this in highlights but you can clearly see contact which bring Dio down and gives Khun a free run into our box and lots of time to stroke the ball into the net. I was disappointed walking out the match but after watching the highlights back, I’m fking fuming at the officials with the aforementioned and the penalty we should have had in injury time 😡

Gordon Watson

As much as this result sucks, if we were to look back over the two games with Spurs and Celtic, there’s positives. First, ignoring the penalty kicks, we didn’t lose to either over 210 minutes, we went toe to toe. There was no capitulation or downing of tools, in fact, there were more than a few individual performances where players stood up to be counted. How many times have we accused the team of lying down and accepting defeat? Too many, but not this week. I hate losing, I hate losing to Celtic, I especially hate losing a cup final to them, so that remains the bottom line, but in terms of picking ourselves up and moving forwards there’s something there. We’ve got a window coming soon so let’s see what we can add and where that takes us next.

Jim McCutcheon

Thanks David feeling a lot more optimistic that we are going in the direction we all want to see, obviously a lot of hard work required but let's build on this going forward 👍

Scott Duncan

If the first thought of a match official is not what have I just seen and it's what will happen if I give this decision to Rangers, then they are compromised and are ultimately cheating. The club has to grow a set (finally) and challenge this all the way, even if we have to go down the legal route. It's that serious now. What a tune today, and what an album btw!

Gary Shaw

Can’t really disagree with any of that……Thought Barron actually should have started but should have been on miles earlier….I thought Igamane looked heavy legged from the get go….As for Hagi,I can’t fault the boy’s effort but it still flabbergasts me when people talk about him as “special” and “something differen”…His distribution, passing, pace, shooting, set pieces are all absolutely atrocious, always has been…..Yes we were unlucky yesterday but it’s the same old story again for the umpteenth time.

Spoon

Spot on bud, when you’re always just unlucky…..it’s not luck

Donald Mackay

Rangers have been groomed. That’s the reality. We have been conditioned to behave in the way Celtic and the authorities want us to.

Scott Stewart

Now that the dust has settled I think even the biggest fan of dessers needs to admit his time is up and he should move on preferably in January. There’s a ready made replacement as back up in Shankland ! Shanklands a leader and will step up and be counted . The move is possibly 18 months too late in terms of winning a title , but on reflection get him for buttons. Recover some money for dessers and won’t cost much in wages . He’s more proflic than dessers and would bang a barrow load for Gers On another note it’s the level we’ve reached celebrating two draws and performances. We have every right to do so based on where we have came from but it’s not the rangers standards I was fortunate enough to support most of my life! Sad times .

Stewart Robertson

I don’t blame the VAR officials. They’ve maybe just had new windows put in. 💥

Stewart Robertson

I’m always the last to turn, on managers or players - but when your number 9 isn’t taking a Pen, he has to go.

John Smith

I think so but I feel in general all of these tapes and recordings should be made public

Graham Jones

The club need to get their finger out, and this should be a priority for our media department to make sure the issue is pushed from now on. We can’t let it go anymore, because it simply isn;t going to change. The referees live under a climate of fear created by Celtic supporters, who have been encouraged in their behaviour by their club to intimidate the officials. This has to be attacked constantly, and it has to be asked in public by the club, in legal language through a statement, whether this is part of the issue. Then it has to be campaigned until we see a drastic change in behaviour from officials when the referee Celtic. As for the new chairman, him being supporter is an expectation, not a bonus. He will be judged in how he does the job, but let’s face it, he doesn’t hold the power at the club. The CEO has to be that person. He might have all these qualifications as a chairman, but that does not mean he can interfere with the CEO’s decision making. If he wants the power at the club, then why didn’t he put himself forward for the CEO position, because he would’ve been qualified. So, it will rest on whether he offers the right level of guidance going forward to the board. Let us be in no doubt though, the CEO is the one who pulls the levers.

Rose Mcloughlin

Lets put pressure on the ### officials..we are sick of these bad decisions..proud of ALL the team.

Ross Guild

Completely agree with the stupid Cup Final date. Looked at that earlier in the season and you could pretty much predict the outcome that we would be knackered after a tough Euro game. Just another example of the league organisers being clueless. I wouldn’t want them to organise a raffle!

Graham Roy

So it might have made you feel better but another fan would have criticised him! The fact is Tav saying something changes absolutely nothing and anyone that is mentally and physically exhausted will not react the way we would in the cold light of day! You might not like him and that’s fine but at least understand that moment isn’t the time to start a discussion about refs in Scottish football!

Alan Weir

Graham, your comment that it wasn’t the moment for Tav to speak out about a shocking decision makes me smile. Will Tav ever have a moment where he speaks out about a questionable decision in a voice commensurate with that of a Rangers captain? In his near ten years, I can’t remember him ever making much of a fuss about anything. Maybe in the coming days?😁 I have nothing against Tav as a man, and consider his contributions over his time at Rangers to be outstanding. It’s a shame his time didn’t end a year or two ago, offering an opportunity to get a more demonstrative character in the captain’s role.

Graham Roy

Your comments suggest you do however each to their own! When the manager comes out the last time the club made a fuss about a referee mistake why would Tav leave himself exposed?! The guy was exhausted and you expect him to launch some sort of organised attack on a decision he has literally seen a 5 second clip! The manager needs to lead the club on this not the captain!

Alan Weir

We’ll need to disagree, Graham, and your last sentence is a starting point. It can’t be left to Clement - again! - to have to do the ‘heavy lifting’. In fact, the CEO has already chipped in; the club needs to be presenting a united front of dissenting voices…including playing staff. The fact our wee debate has carried on for a few days has given the “exhausted” Tav several days to get some rest, re-watch the incident and offer his thoughts. As far as I’m aware: not a dicky bird from him. I can’t imagine the same response from the likes of Greig, Gough or Souness (or Wille Miller or Roy Keane…name your great captains). In fact, I think they would be in the referee’s ears and face during the match rather than too exhausted or timid to fight tooth and nail for a bit of justice and equality. I don’t think we’re going to agree, but it’s been nice to hear your opinions👍.
