This wasn't A person, this was 2 persons. 2 very, very dodgy persons.

chris smith

Rangers must come out and bang this ‘error’ narrative on the head straight away. It wasnt an unfortunate ‘error’ or an inadvertently ‘wrong’ decision. It was cheating plain and simple. Either the VAR boys looked at it and thought … “lets not tell John” or they didnt look at it because they knew if they did, protocol demanded that they should tell John it was a penalty. Either way they cheated and at an absolute minimum they should both be fired … and they should be open to civil claims against their conduct.

Alastair Thomson Mills

David can I ask you a question about Celtic including War titles in their honours list please? I understand why we don’t and they do. It’s obvious. But how about this? Either they like us don’t include their War titles or we like them include ours? Is this possible?

Andrew Rennie

I think what annoys me more than the pen is the foul in the third one. Cos 9 times out of ten that third goal would have won the game. And the fact our goals get combed over and they just get to celebrate goals like that with no anxiety just winds me up

Vanb bryceter

This is huge for me. I can't celebrate a goal against them like I used to. The dogs used to leave the room along with my missus now she actually has to ask the score. We really need a result with this latest cheatfest. I just can't help compared and contrast with our European escapades against the fuckwittery we are up against in Scotland

Graham Roy

We should be allowed to listen to the audio would be interesting to hear what Muir did say!

David Campbell

Rangers cannot rest until that var team are sacked. That is the only acceptable outcome here. That was blatant cheating all those officials involved on the park and watching on TV and not one of them seen it. That's incomprehensible. They must be chased Rangers

Allan

Can we not just call it what it is? It's cheating.

Martin Boyd

The usual suspects were out deflecting a couple of headlines in my newsfeed were laughable. Scales apparently thought the foul was outside the box as if what he thinks is worthy of a headline but as usual his point of view was given credence. SFA especially the mouthpiece they rolled out are cowards.

David Herd

In WW1, the league continued, it was only the Scottish Cup that was put on hold. There were guest players and many regular players away with the services but the competition was still officially recognised by the Scottish League. In WW2, Scottish football was officially suspended by both the SFA and the League. The league set up was split into regions for the duration, we played in the Western then the Southern league (along with Celtic and most of the bigger and better teams). Football was still competitive, albeit again with numerous guest players, but it was unofficial. The fact that the 7 WW2 leagues we won were all during a time of unofficial Football competition, and in leagues that were not national but regional, is why WW2 don't count in Scottish national titles. We can argue it, but let's be honest, we only worry about it now because that lot have overtaken our trophy count. My take is that appearances and goals count as they were competive matches in front of crowds with trophies for the winners, but we can't claim league titles when the league wasn't for the whole country.

Andrew Hillis

I get mistakes can be made. However the sheer volume of mistakes in this fixture in recent years that only benefit the other team is more than just mistakes! Replay the game or let Tav take a one off penalty! 🤬🤬🤣🤣

George Baxter

If the sfa is admitting it was a penalty, their admitting the VAR panel is cheating. Anybody looking at that and saying it wasn't in the box is cheating

Kirk Guthrie

Not a single "make it so" in his interview, just sad really

Martes

Regarding those mentioned attacking players returning from injury David. The jury’s out on Cortes. Still not sure he’s robust enough for our league. Matondo was a lost cause long ago. He’s just another waste of a wage we need to rid ourselves of like Dessers & Dowell. Lovelace has shown enough that he can contribute & hopefully he can add to our attack for the second half of the season.

Glen Kane

Muir & Connor must be dismissed. The SFA are complicit in the corruption if they are allowed to officiate again. (We know that to be true).

stephen

David, is Lovelace's deal up at the end of the season? And if so are we likely to extend this do you know? I still think there is a player there but concede injury has been an issue. I'd love to see if he can shake that off and contribute.

Stillsaw

The massive worry for me is that we get a pen or a 50/50 our way come Jan. A game they know “probably” doesn’t really count for much as they have most likely won the league anyway. They could then say aye but you got that pen in Jan it’s not rigged.

Roslyn Hutchison

They are laughing at us now. We need to take them to task. That decision could ultimately cost Clement his job and don’t get me started on how much our fans invest in the game to be denied an even playing field. Heads need to roll.

Jim Milne

When Jordan Pickford snapped Van Dijk's ACL he didn't get any card and people put it down to "human error" on VAR. David Coote was on VAR that day. 🙄 What would we hear from Frank Connor if there was a hidden camera ala David Coote? It's all human error until it's not. Connor has previous "human errors" with us. It's blatant biased cheating. Collum needs to release the audio, forget if it was human error. We need to know if it was even discussed or if it was deliberately missed. If Beaton called a foul VAR should automatically be checking it. They also seemed to have human error in missing Kuhn trip Diomande and stop him getting back, yet called Roofe & Desser's goals off for the similar. Watch, we will get a dodgy call on January 2nd in a game that doesn't mean much for the league and it'll all be the same bullshit everytime they feel an injustice.

ally keith

We need to fight this…I’ve said for a few seasons I don’t think the officials are corrupt ..just not very good… well that’s now changed they are corrupt as fuck and we as a club need to fight it.. If the clubs stand sit back and accept this shite off honest mistake then I’m sorry I will be giving the club no more money…They will be sitting back allowing us paying fans to be screwed over by cheating…

Dave Fleming

Saying it was an error is not enough. Rangers need to ask why the error was made, to prevent it happening again.

Rose Mcloughlin

Well done to the b team....good to see 3 more players nearly ready to join the team again....thanks David for your pod.

David P

I have to say when I hear Rangers fans, podcasters and media pundits still come out with the "I don't buy into conspiracy theories for me it comes down to incompetence" line I just think what's the f'ng point?? We self sabotage our own argument before the scums PR puppets even need to react.

Alastair Thomson Mills

Thanks for clearing that up David. Oh well we shall just have to start winning trophies again. I am going down bookies to bet us to win the league this year. They will drop points. We need to win and win again.

Craig

If nothing else, is that smug, sleekit, evasive response from Maxwell really the face the SFA want to present to people? The exact same as when Mulraney was out in the summer telling everyone just qualifying for tournaments was good enough for Scotland and that Hampden was a perfect stadium.

James McSween

We should be calling for foreign referees with no Scottish allegiances to be in charge for future OF games.

William Hughes

There is certain officials who are simply incapable of refereeing Rangers fairly. Just look at the long list of goals chopped off or decisions going against us in this fixture in recent years.

Graham McCallum

There can be no mistake. It’s an objective decision. Was it a foul is subjective but since everyone is agreed on that, then it becomes objective so it then becomes was he in the box? Everyone is now agreed on that as well because we have photos to prove as they did. The VAR team then made a decision not to tell the ref. That’s what happened no human error because there’s no reason for there to have been human error it wasn’t an opinion

Bryan Watson

Scottish football loves hating itself to death with incompetent senior execs. Absolutely mental that Neil Doncaster has competition for most incompetent CEO operating within the sphere of Scottish football. I see Willie Collum has admited that it was a stonewaller and for whatever reason it was not awarded - he really had no choice. That blows the narratives Celtic were trying to set "none of the Rangers players complained" "Beaton had already blown the whistle" out of the water. I imagine they will now go out on the offensive with their comms to try put the focus on every single ever so slightly arguable decision that Rangers have ever had to make it a matter of equivolence. Eventually folk will get fed up with the tit for tat and stop talking about the horror show of Sunday's decision. I have been banging on about this for a while but especially since Sunday, Rangers need to majorly buck up their ideas when it comes to strategic communication - we need to be the ones setting the narrative and maintaining it. Hope its something Patrick Stewart can address with the appointment of an experienced strategic comms and PR professional.

Bixby Snyder

I’d like to see them trial this. Only issue is I think we’d have more people getting sent off as we’re still behind that lot on pace. Balogun would have walked on Sunday and Raskin would have been booked earlier than he was.

David_Davy_Dave

There is a VAR (Muir who is a specialist) PLUS a VAR assistant It’s not credible neither of them watching thought “better check that’s outside the box it looks close”

John Davidson

So, what was the process then? What, precisely, was the dialogue between Muir and Connor? Can't simply say, 'it was an error', we need an investigation to expose how the error came about, to help mitigate the prospect of the same 'mistake' happening again.

G Calder

My guess There will be ‘ threats’ made by a mystery Rangers fan - then that will be the story .

David_Davy_Dave

I had the misfortune to hear Peter Grant on Go Radio for 5 mins last night He was quite literally shouting at a Rangers fan. Put a hypothetical question to the guy about fouls outside the box It was deranged He ticked every box bringing up mistakes from the 90s, also insisting Jefte should have had a red card and finally just giving it “you are all making excuses, errors happen” Justified or not after we beat them next month they will be screaming the house down about each and every decision

Doogz

Agree with David we need play them at their own game keep the pressure on re: Muir and Conner, ex players should be discussing it in every interview they do, Kris Boyd seems to be fighting a lone battle. Heard Craig Moore yesterday and after half an hour he was fed up talking about it, sorry Oz simply not good enough, Rangers were done over and it simply cannot be allowed to be repeated.

Colin Carstairs

Club has to be demanding the audio from the Var chat.. it won’t happen but we most definitely should be asking the question.

David P

Have to say on this particular issue whilst I agree it's irrelevant what people believe and the outcome being the same (No Penalty) I can't agree that it's irrelevant what people say. From my pov I've watched a concentrated and well orchestrated campaign from the other side of Glasgow over many years that has played out through the media designed to put pressure on referees when it come to giving decisions against that club. From club, to fans, podcasters and media puppets the narrative was clear and concise. They wanted a particular outcome (Decisions to go in their favour) so they coordinated their efforts to achieve it. I don't ever want Rangers Football Club to act like them in any way but when we've got the club demanding clarification and the recordings from the Old Firm game at the beginning of the year on one hand and our manager completely undermining it in the other. We cut our own balls off before we even get into the fight every single time. I was watching another Rangers podcast and honestly the guy spent a good while prefacing basically apologising for having to bring up the Penalty incident. Then it always leads to ultimately the refs aren't good enough, should we have full time refs discussions and a week later it's all forgotten about. We all can do better is what I'm trying to say. Cause I too have the Rangers thing of looking at what we as a team could have done better. It's a mentality thing perhaps, they're victims, we aren't. Anyway that's my moan for the day 😆 Merry Christmas everybody 🎅

David_Davy_Dave

Was that on Go? I caught about 10 mins of Peter Grant howling at the moon totally unchallenged. At one stage he was literally shouting at the Rangers fan who called in. It was appalling behaviour

Mike Sim

Demand a replay. Another cup gone to the beggars in suspicious circumstances.

Heart and Hand

No, I apologise because I wasn't clear - what causes it is irrelevant, we can debate that endlessly and we'll never prove it one way or the other. So for me, it's a dead end. Instead the thing we can all agree on - that it happens - is what we need to focus on fighting.

Bryan Watson

Ex-Celtic players in the media are always on message, always aligned with their core narrative. Only one I've seen stick their hand up and say an error has been made here is Mark Wilson on OG. Thats something about Celtic's comms that are far better than ours is not only do they set the narrative through their media opportunities with managers / players, they have that narrative reinforced and peddled by their friends / ex-players in the media. Even when they had their horror show season in 20/21 they ex-players never turned on the club publicly. Always united and always on message. Contrast with Rangers, our most prominent voice in the media is Kris Boyd who is an absolute meme and easily swept aside on air by likes of Sutton etc. Neil McCann seems begrudged to say anything remotely positive about Rangers and Kenny Miller who is as passive and forgettable as it comes in terms of a media presence. Fair enough McCoist is out there but he has built his broadcast / media career up to well beyond this nonsense which is fair enough.

Robert White

If the club and RSCs dont demand the audio and a replay im done. Every game vs them, its not sport its cowardice or corruption. Ive had enough and i think a lot of others have too

Steven Links

Oh goody. Jan 2nd - Can’t wait for a decision to either go for us or against them to ‘even things up a bit’ which will have little effect on the League. Cunts know EXACTLY what they’re doing.

David P

I get you, think that was on me not reading properly tbh 😅 Tbh I think I was just looking for an excuse to pontificate on these frustrations 😆 But yeah I agree with you Davy. Of course I do I'm a David Edgar fan boy 🤣🤣🤣 But then who isn't??? and if there are any that aren't they aren't to be trusted in my book 😁

Jim McCutcheon

💯 David, incompetent or what 🤔, PS can he stable the ship 🤦, thanks David 👍

John Myles

Hi David can you or any of the Patreons who watched the cup final on the tv let me know if the to commentary highlighted the penalty did they show replays of it. I know you were at the game David but you also watch it back your a better man than me far too painful.

chris smith

Agreed. But that is assuming that something WAS said. The other option is ofc that Muir and Connor said nothing … (snigger) etc.Tge fact that 3 days on no audio has been released, no commitment has been made to release any and that Liewell’s biatch as the SFA has come out quoting Shakespeare … “ to err is human” … kind of suggests that there was indeed no meaningful audio

Simon Botterill

We and all would adapt to the actual rules. If it's the first minute and it's a yellow card offence, it's a yellow card. I would prefer the ruled were actually enforce the rules.

Graham Jones

I don’t think the club will push this with the SFA, because this board isn’t built that way. I’m glad your optimistic about the new CEO, and I’m sure he is running the club day to day, but the real question is whether he’s making the decisions or executing the ones made for him. There’s a big difference between sitting in the big chair pulling levers, but it depends whether someone is behind you pulling yours. My fear is he’s there as a firewall for the main investors on the board. He could find himself as the fall guy for other people’s decisions. We’ve seen this before at the club from less honest individuals.

Alan Cowan

Lets not let Beaton off the hook here, he isn't blameless. He made a decision to award a free kick almost a yard outside the box, where the initial contact was made and he made the decision on the initial contact even though he didn't blow for a foul until the offense progressed a yard onto the line. VAR to me have made the decision based on initial contact probably not knowing that the rule is when the ref blows the whistle and the conclusion of the offense. So total incompetence regarding the rules would be the outcome and ultimately both should be dismissed. Or if they did roll it on until the conclusion of the offense and then made the incorrect decision, it's not a mistake or an error, it's cheating and therefore a full investigation should be conducted by an independent body to give all a satisfactory conclusion not the SFA marking it's own homework

G Calder

SOME ! ? The SFA will include a mistake that favoured us for balance 😂

Nicholas Dickson

We know it was a “mistake” but what we want to know is how it happened and what they’re going to do about it . A sorry is empty and pointless

Graeme Guthrie

Var have unlimited time to review a decision. Not "seeing" it on the line is wilfully getting the decision wrong. I won't say it's cheating, but its gone beyond incompetence

Nicholas Dickson

If it wasn’t a pen should it not have been a red card ?
