Totally agree on decision making ie squaring we’ve got to maximise those opportunity and getting an easy tap in makes the most sense. Also agree on Cerny, great numbers but doesn’t do enough (similar to Dessers I think). Great pod as usual, merry Christmas lads

Gents this is by far my favourite pod, top comment from you guys all year, great honest, balanced content and it’s been a great listen. Totally agree with you on Cerny, full disclosure I don’t like loans but for me Cerny is vastly over rated as we have a low bar for attackers. Cant deny he has scored goals but I just don’t really enjoy watching him and I think for 79 minutes he can be bang average, tends to be a guy you get a half out of. We do indeed need numbers but I would rather we got them from our own players not someone else’s. You guys know I have defended Dessers, I do not for one second claim he is the answer to our needs but the treatment of Dessers is pathetic. The penalty argument to me is just fabricated excuses to allow people to feel good slating a guy they have projected their hate onto. We have no idea who decided who take the penalties, to pretend he wants one he automatically gets one is just false. Even just logically why do supporters expect Dessers to burst his hump for support who despise him ? He can’t be immune to the constant unfair criticism he gets ? If Dessers misses the chances the more expensive, less available Danilo did in the game he would be getting offers of taxis to the airport, can we just be honest, fans have forgotten what a contributor is, we have favourites who spend months on the bench and guys scoring a decent return being slated. I will be delighted for the guy when he gets a move as the way he has been treated for a guy who has at times been our only striker and has actually scored. Igamane miss was on the line and folk just shrug and cut him slack, there is zero parity with the two in terms of how they are judged. The boy isn’t anything bar a journeyman pro, the hatred towards him is purely looking for a scapegoat. It’s fine to not like him btw, would prefer folk just were honest about it as in terms of return we have had significantly more from him than guys who are lauded like Raskin (hardly played until recently), Danilo (perma injured or ‘coming back’ and cost £6m), Cortes, Matondo etc etc even days like McAusland gets cut slack simply as he likes woodwind instruments as it’s not on output. Anyway, enough ranting…. Enjoy your Christmas and thanks for a cracking year of content 👍🏻

All this time later and the amount of nonsense that's still spoken about the penalty shoot out is ridiculous. According to the manager in his post match interview, they'd been practicing penalties all week and the 5 takers were the top 5. Simple as that. Either you think the manager is lying or Dessers didn't shite out of anything. If he did, then you have to also call the manager a liar.

Greg Cameron

Favourite pod on the network. Thanks for the content throughout the year even though it must be hard graft at times! Have a good Christmas gents 🎄

Kev Armstrong

To play devils Dick Advocaat the manager said Igamane wasn’t injured at the start of the season. Managers can tell white lies to protect their players.

Robert

Indeed, he could have been lying to cover for him "shiting out of it". That's the only two possibilities; the manager lied and Dessers shat out of it or the manager told the truth and Dessers didn't shite out of anything.

Have a great Christmas lads!👏🇬🇧

Personally I've more respect for someone that puts the team before themselves. Aaron Ramsay shat out admitting he didn't fancy taking a penalty and lost us the Europa League!

Andrew Finlayson

Talking about Cerny, what would be the going rate for a winger who looks to be a 15-20 goal a season player? 5 million quid? He’s worth it if he bangs in 20 goals and and a dozen assists for taking sake.

Andrew Finlayson

I think it’s harsh to say Cerny hasn’t turned up in ‘big’ games, he was excellent against Spurs, scored in Nice, put a goal on a plate for Danillo in the cup final, he was also the best player on the park in the SF.

Steven Harrigan

Ramsey has scored 9, missed 1 (for team GB!). I'd look at the player who went off before the shootout in Seville and one who had scored in the semi as the ones who didn't fancy it.

Steven Harrigan

He's never been a 20 goal a season winger. 15, once before in 41 game, then between 1-6 per season, so that's what makes it difficult for me. Is it him hitting a purple patch, or have we found a home for him?

Hendi

In his own words; “I was essentially brought on to take a penalty in the shootout, which I’m not sure is the best idea. “That played on my mind as I went to take it, instead of being clear about where I wanted to put it." Pity he didn't have the courage to raise his concerns at the time and we might have won the trophy. Takes a bigger man to do what Dessers did and put team before individual.

Ross

Great Pod. Fantastic commentary from Steven on the Dessers situation. Does the upturn in the team's form mean Mr. A Staff is considering a return to duties?

Ross Lawrence

Cerny has 10 goals and 6 assists in 26 matches. His goals/assists per game ratio should eclipse Sima or Tillman. Steven said we need an upgrade on him - what does an upgrade on numbers like that look like?! The only drawback with Cerny is age.

Ian w

I agree regarding Cerny a good player but there is something I'm not sure about. Regarding Dessers I was finished with him when he walked off in the huff. All the eye injury stuff was bullshit, just a convenient excuse. Wouldn't boo him right enough.

Hendi

Spot on about the different standard that's applied to Dessers. It's bullying behaviour, one person singled out and everybody else joins in like sheep. A couple of times I've saw short passes played in to him (one from Barron), no chance he could receive the ball, but the crowd blame Dessers for the ball being lost. There is no objectivity, just desperation to view everything he does through the worst lens possible and then trying to justify it.

Douglas Innes

£2-3 million for Cerny we can't be paying circa £5 million for someone who's going to leave for free at the end of his next contract , in regards dessers ( or any forward players) they command high wages for an end product usually goals and a free hit for 12 yds should have them pushing other players out of the way .......

Douglas Innes

Another thing , the thing about Cerny that leaves Kev a bit unsettled is that you don't have the confidence in him to dictate a game or dominate a player in a way that Jota did for them

Charlie Nicolson

Incredibly harsh on Černý. He took the goal perfectly. Who's to say Igamane would definitely have converted the squared ball?
